Platforms Engineer

StoryblocksAnywhereFull-time
View Job
Compensation$70K - 120K a year

Build and scale AWS infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines to ensure reliable software delivery while partnering with engineering teams to improve observability and platform tooling. | Experience with AWS, infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD pipelines, scripting/programming, and observability tools. | Who You Are: The Platforms team builds the foundation every other engineer at Storyblocks depends on: the pipelines that ship their code, the tooling that tells them when something breaks, and the environments they develop in. When that foundation is solid, the whole engineering org moves faster and sleeps better. This isn't a back-office infrastructure role. The work you do here shapes the daily experience of every engineer at the company. We're hiring a Platforms Engineer we're genuinely excited to invest in and grow. Maybe you've been writing application code and kept getting pulled toward the pipelines, the deploys, and the "why is this broken in prod" problems. Maybe you come from a cloud or ops background and want to own systems end to end instead of just closing tickets. Either way, if you're comfortable in AWS, you care about the experience of the engineers around you, and you want more ownership than your current role gives you, this is built for you. You'll work across CI/CD, observability, infrastructure-as-code, and local development environments in a fast-moving microservices world where resilience and scalability really matter. We'll start you on well-scoped, real problems and hand you bigger, higher-autonomy projects as fast as you can take them. This is a team that treats developer experience as a product, not an afterthought. We care a lot about learning here. The platform space moves fast, and the tools you'll master in a year probably include a few that aren't on this page yet. We want someone who stays curious, enjoys picking up new skills, and shares what they learn with the team. We also expect you to use AI to supercharge your work, not to replace your judgment. Our best engineers lean on AI to move faster and go deeper while owning the decisions and the quality of what ships. What you will do: Build, operate, and scale AWS infrastructure that supports our microservices platform. Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines that make shipping fast, reliable, and safe. Build reusable, templated configuration (Helm charts, CircleCI orbs) so teams get consistent, standardized deployments and pipelines instead of reinventing them. Manage infrastructure through code, treating infra changes with the same rigor as application code. Improve observability and monitoring so teams can understand and debug their systems in production. Partner with product engineering teams, translating platform concepts into practical guidance and cutting friction from their day-to-day work. Make and document thoughtful technical trade-offs, and grow into leading complex platform projects end to end. What you bring to the table: You don't need to check every box here. If you're strong in most of these and curious about the rest, we'd love to talk. You're comfortable working in AWS and know your way around its core services. You've used observability or monitoring tools (like Datadog) to understand what your systems are doing. You're handy with at least one scripting or programming language. You've worked with infrastructure-as-code such as Terraform, or you're eager to. You've helped run and scale infrastructure, and you're excited to grow into bigger, higher-traffic systems. You've built or maintained CI/CD pipelines. How you work: You care about doing right by the engineers who depend on your work, and you keep developer experience front of mind. You can explain a gnarly platform concept to someone who doesn't live in infrastructure all day. You think through trade-offs and can walk someone through your reasoning. You take ownership of your work, and you're ready to grow into leading bigger, more complex projects. You're curious and love to learn. You pick up new tools and skills on your own, and you use AI to sharpen and speed up your work. Storyblocks' engineering and company values resonate with you. Nice to have: Experience with Helm and Kubernetes (or other container orchestration), and tools like ArgoCD, Argo Rollouts, and Istio. Hands-on with CircleCI, GitHub Actions, or similar CI/CD platforms. Experience with Datadog or another APM/observability tool. Working knowledge of databases (relational or NoSQL): provisioning, tuning, or operating them. Experience designing and deploying microservices. General knowledge of security, release engineering, or QA. What We Bring to the Table: Competitive and fair compensation: We believe in fair pay, meaning equal pay for equal work. For each title, we consistently apply competitive salary bands based on market data and benchmarks, reviewed twice a year. What you've been paid before, fear of conflict, or willingness to negotiate does not play a part in determining your pay. The annual base salary range for this position is $122,000 - $129,200. Placement within the range is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to: knowledge, skills, years and depth of experience, and equity with internal team members. 401(k) retirement plan: We offer both a Traditional and Roth 401(k) with a company match. Company-paid medical: Our medical, dental and vision premiums are covered 100% for you and your dependents. Paid parental leave: We support all paths to parenthood. Birthing parents receive up to 12 weeks of paid medical recovery leave plus 4 weeks of paid bonding leave (up to 16 weeks total). Non-birthing parents receive 4 weeks of paid bonding leave. Parents welcoming a child through adoption, surrogacy, or foster placement receive up to 12 weeks of paid bonding leave. Unlimited vacation: At Storyblocks we take vacation seriously. That means take the time off when you need it. Don’t worry about tracking hours or accounting for partial days. Typically, employees take about three or four weeks each year. Plus, two company-wide week breaks in July and December. Workplace benefits and perks: We are fully remote and have company and team events. Company-sponsored mentorship and growth: We encourage attending meetups and are happy to host them as well. We also have a leadership coach, on staff, available to all employees to enhance your professional development. Employee perks: We help employees maintain work-life balance and honor their contributions to the organization by offering resources such as a financial wellness program, a subscription service that offers unlimited deliveries from thousands of eligible restaurants with $0 delivery, and a recognition and rewards program that celebrates their accomplishments. Casual Work Environment: Sure we all get dressed up once in a while, but in general we want you to be comfortable at company events – whatever that means to you (flip-flops, jeans, etc.). Who We Are: Storyblocks is a different kind of content company delivering a fresh approach to meet the creative needs of a new generation of storytellers. Built on the belief that all stories deserve a chance to be told, Storyblocks provides video, audio, images and easy to use creative tools through its unique subscription model. By offering unlimited downloads and continually adding fresh content, Storyblocks challenges the paradigm that your ambitious vision requires deep pockets. We are committed to empowering storytellers by removing creative barriers and democratizing video creation. Driven by a set of six company core values, our culture is shaped by a love for data, empowered communication, community, telling authentic stories, an embrace of ownership, and everyone emptying the dishwasher (both literally and figuratively). A remote first company, Storyblocks has been recognized as one of Washington D.C.'s Top Workplaces by The Washington Post, among the Best Places to Work by the Washington Business Journal, and by the Washingtonian as one of DC’s 50 Great Places to Work. We encourage you to apply even if your experience is not a 100% match with the position. We are looking for someone with relevant skills and experience, not a checklist that exactly matches the job description. We want to help you grow and in return, you help us grow into a stronger, more inclusive organization. Storyblocks does not discriminate in employment matters on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, national origin, age, military service eligibility, veteran status, sexual orientation, marital status, disability, or any other protected class. We support workplace diversity.

Senior Design Engineer

ChipAgentsCAFull-time

Compensation$180K - 350K a year

Own and drive product experience across multiple interfaces including CLI, web, and desktop for chip design AI platform. | Strong experience building user-facing software with excellent frontend and product engineering skills, and ability to work directly with users to shape product. | About ChipAgents ChipAgents is revolutionizing chip design and verification with agentic-AI workflows. Founded by experts in AI and semiconductor design, we partner with top-10 semiconductor companies, hyperscale cloud providers, and cutting-edge startups. Our platform accelerates RTL development, functional verification, and simulation, unlocking new levels of productivity and design quality. Role Overview We are looking for a Senior Design Engineer to own and drive the product experience across ChipAgents. This is an engineering role for someone with exceptional product judgment and strong opinions about how technical software should work. You will identify user problems, define workflows and interaction models, and ensure that the final experience is coherent, intuitive, and effective. This role designs experiences across CLI, web, IDE, desktop, and other agent-native interfaces, not simply implementing designs or requirements created by someone else. It involves working directly with users, engineers, AI researchers, and company leadership to shape the product from problem definition through launch and iteration. While you may implement major parts of the experience yourself, your responsibility extends beyond the code you personally write. Key Responsibilities - Own the product experience across CLI, web, IDE, desktop, and other agent-native interfaces. - Translate complex chip design and verification workflows into clear, efficient product experiences. - Define how users interact with AI agents, including task creation, progress, review, approval, interruption, recovery, and failure handling. - Work directly with customers and domain experts to understand their workflows and identify the right problems to solve. - Develop prototypes and production interfaces when code is the fastest way to explore and validate an idea. - Review and influence product work across the engineering team to maintain a consistently high quality bar. Qualifications - Strong experience building and shipping user-facing software. - Excellent frontend or product engineering skills. - Exceptional product, interaction design, and information architecture judgment. - Comfort making decisions under ambiguity and driving alignment without formal authority. - The ability to reason through complete workflows, including edge cases and failure states. - Experience working directly with users and translating technical needs into product decisions. - The ability and desire to quickly learn unfamiliar technical domains. Nice to Haves - Experience building AI-native products, agents, copilots, or systems with probabilistic behavior. - Experience with developer tools, command-line products, IDE integrations, or technical enterprise software. - Familiarity with semiconductor design, verification, EDA tooling, or hardware engineering workflows. - Experience designing products across multiple interfaces rather than a single web application. How We Think About This Role - This is not a traditional product design role centered on producing mockups or Figma files. It is also not a conventional frontend role focused on implementing specifications. - This role owns how the product works, not just how it looks or who writes each line of code. Why ChipAgents - Shape the interface for a category-defining AI platform at the intersection of the two biggest technology waves of the decade, AI and semiconductors. - Have real design ownership at an early-stage company, not just a seat on a big design system team. - Work alongside a world-class technical team and an advisory board of EDA legends, with real product, real customers, and real scale already in production. Equal Opportunity ChipAgents is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applicants of all backgrounds. What We Offer - $180K/yr – $350K/yr base salary + equity. Open to above-scale compensation for exceptional candidates. - Unlimited PTO and full benefits (medical, vision, dental, 401k). - Two engineering-centric offices with free parking, private gym, and free lunch, drinks and snacks.
