Design and build reliable full-stack features collaborating with cross-functional teams and leveraging AI tools to enhance productivity. | 4+ years full-stack JavaScript/TypeScript experience with React and Node.js, production API and AWS experience, and use of AI coding assistants. | US Based Salary: $100,000 - $135,000 DOE About Us Bonterra exists to propel every doer of good to their peak impact. We measure that impact against our vision to increase the giving rate as a percentage of GDP from 2% to 3% by 2033. We know that this goal is lofty, but we are confident that the right technology and expertise will strengthen trust in the sector, allowing the social good industry to accelerate growth and reach peak impact. Bonterra's differentiated, end-to-end solutions collectively support a unique network of over 20,000 customers, including over 16,000 nonprofit organizations and over 50 percent of Fortune 100 companies. Learn more at bonterratech.com. About the Role Join a mission-driven engineering team passionate about helping nonprofits drive real impact. You'll work on meaningful software alongside a collaborative team that values creativity, autonomy, and continuous growth. Beyond the technical skills, we value people who think critically, collaborate openly, and bring fresh ideas to how we work and what we build. What You'll Do Design and build thoughtful, reliable features across the full stack. You'll work on backend services and APIs just as much as the frontend, and we need you to be strong at both. Bring strong UI and UX sensibility to your frontend work. Good enough isn't good enough when clients are depending on it. Proactively evaluate tradeoffs and speak up about them. We want someone who thinks about business value and client impact without needing to be asked. Own your work from sprint planning and ticket refinement through implementation, peer review, and demo. Use AI tools as a normal part of how you work, whether that's coding, debugging, or researching. This is table stakes for us. Think critically about where AI can create real value for our clients and help shape features that deliver on that. Partner closely with product managers, designers, and QA to ship things people actually want to use. Give and receive code reviews in a way that makes everyone better, not just the code. Share what you know. We grow together here. Requirements 4+ years of full-stack JavaScript/TypeScript development on production systems. Strong React experience including component architecture, state management, and performance. Solid backend experience with Node.js and TypeScript, including building and maintaining production APIs and services. Solid grasp of REST APIs and GraphQL on both sides of the wire. Production experience with MySQL and/or PostgreSQL. Familiarity with CI/CD practices using GitHub Actions, CircleCI, or similar. Comfortable working in AWS or a comparable cloud environment. Strong problem solving skills, high EQ, and the ability to communicate and collaborate well across a team. Active daily use of AI coding assistants like Copilot, Cursor, or Claude. This is expected, not optional. Preferred Qualifications Hands-on experience building AI-powered product features, whether that's LLM integration, agentic workflows, or AI-assisted UX. Mobile development experience as a nice to have. Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or infrastructure as code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation. Familiarity with nonprofit or social impact technology. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience. At Bonterra, we’re building AI-powered tools to solve real human challenges—and we want teammates who share that enthusiasm. We value people who will champion AI and bring diverse perspectives from different industries, backgrounds, and cultures. Together, we create AI that breaks down barriers, empowers communities, and delivers better outcomes At this time, we are unable to consider candidates who require current or future sponsorship for employment authorization. ____________________________________________________________________________________ Our Culture At Bonterra, we’re innovating with a higher purpose: to increase giving to 3% of US GDP by 2033, creating $573 billion more in global impact every year.
