Reporting to the Assistant Director for Accounting and Tax, the Payroll Compliance Analyst provides analytical support and subject-matter expertise to a team responsible for payroll tax processing and transactional functions. Key responsibilities include analyzing payroll data; performing general ledger reconciliations; preparing required filings and reports; developing and reporting payroll metrics; leading the development and refinement of payroll procedures; supporting the successful execution of payroll processes; and coordinating with partners across HCM, Benefits, and Payroll. As a member of a team committed to continuous improvement, the analyst will identify process issues, assess opportunities for improvement, and advance recommended solutions, particularly those supporting Workday functionality and optimization. To be successful, the incumbent must exhibit payroll expertise, including a deep understanding of pay processing and tax compliance; demonstrate exceptional attention to detail while maintaining awareness of broader University objectives; and ensure adherence to all applicable federal, state, and University policies, procedures, and laws. Duties & Responsibilities: Payroll Analysis and Reporting/Filing Analyzes payroll transaction, data, processes and deduction data and reporting metrics Lead multiple federal and state year-end tax reporting/filing processes for Form W2, Form 1042s, 1099R, etc. Develops systems and measurements to support process improvement Supports all data requirements/system requirements for Payroll Tax and Accounting including preparation and remittance of Social Security, Medicare, and Federal withholding taxes on behalf of the University of Washington Analysis data trends to support business decisions and processes including developing and documentation of processes Complies data from multiple data sources (UW systems, Washington State and third party systems) for reporting Uses analytical tools such as SQL Server, Microsoft Reporting Services, Access, Excel and/or similar applications to extract and analyze large volumes of payroll data Coordinates reconciliation for month end and year end close and reporting Ensures completion of assigned payroll transactions including tax and accounting in accordance with established standards Transactional Payroll Processes Supports successful execution of payroll processes as required, including payroll, tax and accounting transaction and processes and related reporting, reconciliations, and tax filings/payments Assist in other payroll activities as needed Analyzes and identifies process improvement opportunities to streamline workflow and deliver enhanced customer service to the organization Supports timely resolution of complex issues/inquiries including customer inquiries Coordinates with other ISC resources to address escalated inquiries as required Contributes to an outstanding customer-service environment, including strong collaboration with other team and subject matter experts external to the ISC as required Assist in training activities for Payroll (internal and external) Utilizes ServiceNow to facilitate management of inquiries/issues in accordance with established protocols Payroll Services Support Supports periodic Workday update processes, including Payrolls testing activities Supports knowledge management processes, including identification and verification of additions/changes to the working repository of knowledge content Supports training activities, including development and verification of relevant content Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Economics, Human Resources, Public Administration or Business Administration, to include 4 years of experience working in payroll, accounting or HCM/HR related role, including working knowledge of University of Washington HR and payroll policies Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration. Under the direction of the Program Support Supervisor for Auctions & Warehouse Operations, perform tasks associated with surplus warehouse operations, receiving, and auction sales. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Advise UW faculty and staff, government agencies, non-profit organizations, and the general public regarding the policies and procedures for disposal and acquisition of surplus property, suggest alternatives when appropriate and ensure compliance with University policies and procedures, WACs, and RCWs with regard to the disposal and acquisition of state surplus property. Provide guidance on special handling procedures for laboratory equipment and hazardous materials when appropriate. Receive, unpack, and sort incoming property. Load, unload, and distribute furniture, equipment, and materials. Inspect for condition, quantity, and type against shipping documents and resolve any associated discrepancies. Make inventory tags and determine disposition of property. Ensure property is correctly labeled, and properly dispositioned and described in the database. Identify hazardous materials, such as sharps, chemicals, asbestos, lead, mercury, radioactive producing devices, lasers, etc. Follow handling and disposal guidelines; submit inquiries and disposal requests to EH&S. Coordinate the pickup of recycling and waste, including that which requires special disposal. Advise clients of inventory updates and changes, materials requiring special handling, and/or materials that are unacceptable and cannot be received. Conduct physical inventories as scheduled and/or directed. Perform ongoing audits of Surplus inventory. Prepare weekly, monthly, and annual inventory reports. Receive, review, and process Surplus Property request forms. Review forms to ensure compliance with University rules and regulations. Advise faculty and staff regarding the status of pending request forms. Send out inventory tags to clients via campus mail. Monitor Surplus email account; promptly respond to customer inquiries and requests. Determine appropriate storage locations and placement of property in warehouse. Safely operate material handling equipment, including forklifts, both within the warehouse and during property loading, unloading and relocation. The main purpose of the Data Analyst position is to provide support to key research projects through database management, data quality management, computational support to multidisciplinary research projects, data extraction and formatting, and providing key inputs for papers and presentations. Data Analysts must develop an understanding of different research needs and analytic functions across multiple projects to best meet research needs. Data Analysts must be able to independently translate requests into actionable results through interactions with research databases, formulation of displays of results, and development of complex code to be applied to a variety of quantitative data. This position calls for dexterity working with complex databases and the ability to assess, transform, and utilize quantitative data using R. WORK SCHEDULE 100% FTE, 40 hours/weekly Day shift, Monday - Friday DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION The Ambulatory Care Population Health department provides comprehensive nursing care management for high-risk patients across all Harborview primary care clinics. Our team collaborates across the care continuum to ensure safe and effective transitions between care settings, including inpatient units, the emergency department, and specialty clinics. We serve patients with complex medical conditions, as well as significant social and behavioral health needs, striving to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care. Approximately 70% of the RNCM’s time will focus on care management and 30% on serving as an expert diabetes and care management resource across clinics for the management of complex patients. This blended role strengthens transitions of care and enhances coordination not only across inpatient and outpatient settings but also between primary and specialty care—ensuring continuity, reducing fragmentation, and improving outcomes for patients with complex needs. POSITION HIGHLIGHTS Conveniently located near public transportation Make a difference for the patients and employees we serve Opportunity to provide career growth PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Ongoing, proactive care management for high-risk, medically complex patients with primary focus on diabetes Use the nursing process of assessment, diagnosis, care planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic, and coordinated care for primary care patients during in-person and virtual interactions Support patient care transitions from recent hospital or emergency department discharges, specialty to primary care, and reduces barriers to care Partner with patients and families to develop individualized care plans, support disease self-management, and improve knowledge of their health conditions.
