Lead end-to-end program management of security initiatives across multiple domains ensuring cross-organizational alignment. | 6+ years technical program management experience in security or platform engineering with strong stakeholder management skills. | Job Description Nordstrom's Security Platform Engineering team is hiring a Sr. Technical Program Manager to serve as the operational backbone of our security engineering organization. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role that sits at the intersection of program execution, stakeholder relationships, and cross-organizational influence. Our team covers a broad portfolio of security domains — spanning endpoint detection, email security, data encryption, network security, compliance engineering, and security assessments — and is in an active growth phase with a new domain launching in Q3, multiple engineering hires onboarding simultaneously, and several platform ownership transitions in flight. This is not a role for someone looking to manage a steady-state program. It's a role for someone who thrives in complexity, earns trust quickly, and can run a program without needing to be the most technical person in the room. What You'll Do Own end-to-end program management across a broad portfolio of security domains — including endpoint detection, email security, data encryption, network security, compliance engineering, and security assessments — tracking deliverables, managing dependencies, and keeping work moving without requiring manager escalation Serve as the primary point of contact for cross-functional partners across Risk, Compliance, Engineering, and Business teams on security program-related initiatives Drive alignment and decisions in cross-organizational forums where the security team does not hold direct authority Build and maintain program rhythms — sprint cadences, status reporting, roadmap tracking, and stakeholder updates Develop and maintain OKRs and KPIs across security platforms — tracking platform health, delivery progress, and team performance metrics for monthly reporting to leadership Support onboarding of new engineering hires by managing ramp plans, platform handoff timelines, and knowledge transfer logistics Identify and surface risks early, with a bias toward resolution rather than escalation Partner closely with the Manager on team restructuring execution, hiring coordination, and leadership-facing communications What You Bring 6+ years of experience in technical program management, preferably within a security, infrastructure, or platform engineering organization Demonstrated ability to manage complex, multi-workstream programs independently — from scoping through delivery Strong stakeholder management skills — you can build trust with senior engineering leaders, risk and compliance partners, and business stakeholders simultaneously Experience driving cross-organizational alignment without direct authority — you know how to move decisions forward in rooms where you don't own the outcome Proven ability to define, track, and report on OKRs and KPIs — translating platform and program health into clear, actionable insights for leadership audiences Excellent written and verbal communication — you can write a crisp leadership update and run a productive meeting with equal ease Comfort with ambiguity — the team's scope is evolving and this role will need to evolve with it Familiarity with security domain concepts sufficient to ask the right questions and understand technical trade-offs Nice to Have Prior experience supporting a security engineering or security operations team Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, or similar program management tooling Experience managing contractor-to-FTE transitions or team restructuring programs Background in retail, e-commerce, or large-scale enterprise environments Pay Range Details The pay range(s) below has been provided in compliance with state specific laws. Design, build, and operate microservices and React-based tools, drive data quality, participate in on-call rotations, and influence architecture. | 7+ years professional software engineering with backend and frontend delivery, bachelor's degree, proficiency in Java, React, and distributed systems. | Job Description NOTE: This position is offered as a hybrid role in the Seattle, WA area. You must be willing to work onsite at the Nordstrom Seattle office a minimum of 4 days/week in order to be considered for this position. This is a rare opportunity to work at the intersection of large-scale data architecture and customer-facing impact. Every product page a customer sees, every filter they apply, and every category they navigate depends on the systems you will build and evolve. At Nordstrom, product data is the backbone of the customer experience — from the moment a product is listed to the moment it ships. The PIM Egress team owns Product Core Service (PCS), the authoritative API and Kafka interface that delivers product data to every corner of the business. PCS is mission-critical infrastructure. It serves 100+ downstream teams — spanning Checkout, Warehouse Management, Data Analytics, and beyond — at 600 requests per second with a 50ms latency target and the reliability those teams depend on to run the business. As a Senior Full Stack Engineer on this team, you'll work at the intersection of scale, reliability, and data integrity — designing and evolving the systems that ensure every team at Nordstrom gets accurate, timely product data when they need it. You'll design, build, and operate services and user interfaces that are central to Nordstrom's product data ecosystem, working across the entire stack — from React-based internal tools used by merchants and data stewards to Java microservices that process millions of product records daily. While this role is Full Stack, the responsibilities tend to lean more toward Backend Engineering. Our UI surfaces are also internal tools built for the people who manage Nordstrom's product data — think operational dashboards, workflow monitors, and admin interfaces that give teams real-time visibility into how millions of items move through our systems. A day in the life... Build and evolve core platform services. You'll own microservices that power product information management. These services integrate with upstream ingestion pipelines (including Kafka-based event streaming and Temporal workflow orchestration) and serve downstream consumers across the company. Design delightful internal tools. Merchants, buyers, and data stewards rely on the UIs your team builds to manage catalogs, assign hierarchy nodes, and govern organizational entities. You'll create React-based applications that make complex data operations intuitive and efficient. Drive data quality at scale. You'll build validation, canonicalization, and entity resolution capabilities that ensure data consistency across Nordstrom's product ecosystem — spanning wholesale, marketplace, and direct-to-consumer channels. Own what you ship. You'll participate in on-call rotations, build observability into every service (New Relic, structured logging, custom dashboards), and drive operational excellence through runbooks, alerting, and incident response. Influence technical direction. You'll contribute to architecture decisions, participate in design reviews, and mentor engineers on the team. Your designs will consider upstream and downstream integration points and balance short-term delivery with long-term platform health. You own this if you have… 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including significant delivery of both backend services and frontend applications. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Engineering, or Data Engineering. Communication skills. Strong verbal, written, and diagramming communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Programming skills. Proficient in more than one programming language. Experience with agentic development and a perspective on how to get the most from agents during the software development lifecycle. Strong backend fundamentals. You're comfortable designing and building microservices in Java, working with relational databases (PostgreSQL), and integrating with event-driven architectures (Kafka). Experience with workflow orchestration tools like Temporal is a strong plus. Modern frontend skills. You've built production React applications with TypeScript. You care about usability, accessibility, and creating tools that people enjoy. Infrastructure fluency. You're comfortable working with containerized deployments (Docker, Kubernetes), defining infrastructure as code with Terraform, and configuring CI/CD pipelines. You don't need to be a platform engineer, but you can provision what your services need and troubleshoot deployment issues without waiting on someone else. Distributed systems thinking. You understand the tradeoffs of eventual consistency, can reason about failure modes in a service-oriented architecture, and have data-driven perspectives on topics like idempotency, schema evolution, and data partitioning. Ownership mentality. You do more than write code — you own outcomes. You think about observability from the start, you write runbooks, and you show up when your systems need you. Collaborative and communicative. You thrive in cross-functional environments. You can explain a technical tradeoff to a product manager, pair with a junior engineer on a complex problem, and contribute to architectural discussions with clarity and conviction. Bias toward simplification. You actively seek ways to reduce complexity, remove bottlenecks, and make systems easier to operate and evolve. Technology stack… Backend: Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, Kafka (event streaming and CDC), Temporal.io (workflow orchestration), PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Redis Frontend: React, TypeScript, Next.js Infrastructure & Cloud: AWS (ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3, RDS, MSK), Terraform, GitHub Data & Integration: Kafka topics (Avro schemas), REST and webhook service-to-service communication, batch and real-time data pipelines Observability: New Relic (APM, dashboards, alerting), structured logging, distributed tracing #LI-CH1 Pay Range Details The pay range(s) below has been provided in compliance with state specific laws. Lead AWS cloud database architecture and operations, maintain on-premises databases, develop automation, and mentor engineers. | 7+ years database engineering with 3+ years AWS cloud operations and expertise in Oracle, MSSQL, and Terraform. | Job Description About the Role Nordstrom’s Database Platform Services team keeps the data infrastructure powering our business running — Oracle, MSSQL, and PostgreSQL at enterprise scale — while actively building the cloud-native database platform that will define the next decade. We’re looking for a Senior Cloud Database Engineer who brings AWS as their primary strength and genuine Oracle and MSSQL operational depth as a non-negotiable foundation. This is not a pure cloud role. You’ll be the AWS subject matter expert on a team of seasoned DBAs, leading our cloud database platform buildout on RDS, Aurora PostgreSQL, and Aurora DSQL while also owning production responsibility for mission-critical Oracle and MSSQL systems through an active migration period. You’ll establish AWS standards from the ground up, mentor experienced engineers expanding into cloud-native practices, and carry accountability across both worlds. What You’ll Do AWS Cloud Platform Leadership Architect, deploy, and operate AWS database services with primary focus on RDS (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL), Aurora PostgreSQL, and Aurora DSQL. Define enterprise-grade standards, governance frameworks, and deployment patterns for AWS database services at Nordstrom. Design backup, HA, and disaster recovery strategies meeting SLA and compliance requirements on AWS. Develop and own Terraform infrastructure-as-code for cloud database provisioning, parameter management, networking, and lifecycle automation. Lead knowledge transfer — run hands-on workshops, write runbooks, and actively mentor DPS engineers expanding into AWS cloud-native practices. Evaluate the broader AWS database services ecosystem (ElastiCache, DMS/SCT, DynamoDB, Redshift, and others) and guide adoption decisions. Monitor and optimize performance using CloudWatch, Performance Insights, and related AWS observability tooling. Oracle, MSSQL & GoldenGate Operations Support Oracle 19c/21c on-premises fleet: patching cadences, OEM management, AWR/statspack analysis, RAC/ASM operations, and performance diagnostics. Manage MSSQL Server environments: HA/AG, backup strategy, performance tuning, security hardening, and P1 incident ownership. Operate GoldenGate CDC pipelines including Extract/Replicat configuration, OCI GoldenGate managed service, and GG4BD delivery to Confluent Cloud Kafka. Participate in on-call rotation and lead P1/P2 incident response across AWS and on-premises platforms. Partner with application teams on schema change management, query optimization, and database architecture reviews. What You Bring Required 7+ years of database engineering experience with at least 3 years of AWS cloud database operations carrying production accountability. Deep AWS expertise with hands-on production experience in RDS, Aurora PostgreSQL, and Aurora DSQL: parameter tuning, HA topology, failover, and replication. Solid Oracle DBA skills at enterprise scale: 19c/21c administration, fleet patching, OEM, ASM, AWR/statspack, and performance diagnostics. Production-depth required, not incidental exposure. Operational MSSQL Server depth: HA/AG, T-SQL, backup/recovery, performance tuning, and independent P1 incident ownership. Production Terraform for real infrastructure — state management, module design, and plan/apply discipline. Proven ability to establish cloud database standards and best practices in an enterprise environment. Experience enabling a team through a technology transition: training, runbooks, workshops, or hands-on mentorship. Strongly Preferred Production GoldenGate CDC experience: Extract/Replicat configuration, trail file management, GG4BD, and bounded recovery. DMS or equivalent CDC experience considered. AWS Database Specialty or Solutions Architect Professional certification. Experience with DMS and SCT for Oracle or MSSQL to Aurora PostgreSQL migrations. AWS observability tooling: CloudWatch, Performance Insights, RDS Enhanced Monitoring, or equivalent. CI/CD pipeline integration for database deployments. Nice to Have Broader AWS database services: ElastiCache (Redis/Memcached), DynamoDB, Redshift, Neptune. AWS data ecosystem familiarity: S3, Glue, Athena, Kinesis, Lake Formation. OCI experience or certifications. Why Nordstrom Be the founding AWS cloud database expert on a team of seasoned Oracle and MSSQL professionals who are genuinely invested in growing their skills — your knowledge transfer work will have real impact. Work on systems that matter: database infrastructure supporting one of retail’s most recognized brands at national scale. Technically interesting work in parallel: enterprise Oracle fleet operations, real-time GoldenGate CDC, and cloud-native AWS database design all at once. A role that keeps you hands-on technically while developing real mentorship and platform leadership experience. Competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and a team that values operational depth over breadth of buzzwords.
