(MTSI) is seeking a Software / Network Engineer- Linux Expertise to support the 53d Test and Evaluation Group (TEG) Experimental Operations Unit (EOU) at Creech AFB, NV. Candidate will be responsible for work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment supporting the initial standup and follow-on experimental operations of the Air Force’s first Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA) unit. This position has the primary responsibility of assisting in the experimentation and sustainment of software for CCA flight simulation including air vehicle and mission autonomy systems as well as additional CCA related software projects. The successful candidate will be able to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including engineers, operators, maintainers, and analysts, and will have strong problem-solving, adaptability, communication, leadership, and attention to detail skills. Major Duties and Responsibilities: Candidate will work in a collaborative environment focused on experimentation, iteration, and sustainment of CCA flight simulation and autonomy software. Essential job functions will include but may not be limited to: Provide overall software engineering support to the 53d Test and Evaluation Group (53d TEG) Experimental Operations Unit (EOU) Coordinate and collaborate with multiple outside agencies including US Government (USG) as well as air vehicle and mission autonomy contract vendors Ensure flight simulation software meets requirements and performs as expected through unit, integration, and system test and experimentation Use software tools to process and analyze collected data to assess simulated aircraft performance and identify areas for improvement Troubleshoot and debug software issues- identify and resolve software problems during development, integration, and simulated flight experimentation Gather feedback from pilots and other subject matter experts to identify areas for improvement in realism, usability, and training/combat effectiveness Manage software configuration and version control- ensure proper tracking and control of software changes to maintain stability and traceability Generate clear and concise experimentation reports that summarize the test results and provide recommendations Collaborate with a multi-discipline experimentation team consisting of operators, maintainers, engineers, analysts, and other support personnel Install, configure, and maintain servers and workstations Perform system hardening and security audits to ensure compliance with established security policies Be familiar with security scans on SAP networks using tools like ACAS and ClamAV Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls Automate routine tasks using scripting languages (e.g., Ansible, Bash, Python) Establish and maintain container engines like Docker and Podman Required Skills: Minimum of 5 years’ experience working as a Software Engineer CompTIA Security+ Certification Proficiency with Linux OS Working knowledge of Windows Server administration Experience with system monitoring and performance tuning Strong scripting skills (Bash, Python preferred) 6+ years of experience administering Linux systems (e.g., Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu) Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities This position will require a strong ability and willingness to work in a team environment, with demonstrated leadership, customer interface, and organizational skills Desired Skills/Experience: 10+ years of recent experience with Software Engineering duties 3+ years working in Software Engineering/Development roles in a military environment 3+ years working in Software Engineering/Development roles in Developmental/Experimental or Operational Flight Test 5+ years working in a classified environment (Secret level or higher) Experience in any of the following technologies is desirable but not required: Experience with Special Access Programs (SAP) within the last 3 years Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, KVM, Docker, Podman) Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef) RHCSA Certification Linux+ Certification Experience with data formats like: DIS, GRID, JSE, LINK-16 Educational Requirements: Master’s degree and 4+ years’ engineering experience, or Bachelor’s degree and 6+ years’ engineering experience, or Associate’s degree and 8+ years’ engineering experience. Security Clearance: Secret clearance required. Ability to obtain and maintain TS SCI/SAP clearances required. Current TS/SCI desired. All hires will be contingent on candidate meeting requirements for and gaining required security clearances. U.S. Citizenship is required for this position. Travel Requirements: Occasional travel is expected based on mission requirements. Expectation is that work will be performed onsite. Personnel shall be experienced and motivated engineering professionals with the necessary skills to support the ATEA FPO by accomplishing highly technical tasks in a classified work environment. Personnel shall apply knowledge of and expertise in DoD, AF and common engineering and scientific principles, criteria, and procedures to improve planned and existing weapon system manufacture, operations, re-manufacture and de-militarization operations and oversight. Your essential job functions will include but may not be limited to: Assist in translating user requirements into system requirements, which will be used to design, develop, fabricate, test and evaluate systems, subsystems and equipment for deployment. Apply engineering principles and technical understanding of subject matter material into initial development, modification/updates/revisions, and maintenance of technical Anti-Tamper Security Classification Guides (SCG) using technical writing skills. Assist with the development of requirements and technology needs into action plans and policies necessary to improve and retain world class manufacturing, operations, re-manufacturing and de-militarization of weapon system capabilities. Perform technical/mission analyses of existing and potential operational requirements, assist in developing system concepts, and perform technological/trade-off study assessments of proposed designs. Review specifications, including system, system segment and equipment specifications, and Interface Control Documents (ICDs) involved in programs. Support and conduct engineering performance, effectiveness, cost effectiveness, cost performance, lifecycle cost, producibility, maintainability, supportability, reliability, technical and schedule risk assessment and scheduling trade-off studies. Support and conduct systems analyses to include, but not limited to, system design/design feasibility and state-of-the-art assessment. Provide systems/subsystems integration support for the acquisition, development and verification of systems and equipment. Teach learning modules within Anti-Tamper courses to industry and Government participants, and assist in curriculum development, as required. Qualifications Required: Minimum of 20 years of relevant DoD work experience (years of experience may be waiverable with customer approval). No less than three (3) years’ experience in an SAP and/or SCI environment within the last five (5) years (SAP/SCI experience may be waiverable with customer approval). Education: • BS and MS degree in Electrical, Radar, Software, Microelectronics, or Computer Engineering (Master’s degree may be waiverable with customer approval). Desired skills: • Evaluating current fielded weapons systems to determine anti-tamper and reverse engineering susceptibility based on vendor design. • Identifying susceptibility of critical protected information from exploitation and reverse engineering. • Identifying methodologies to improve resistance of current and future electronic circuits to reverse engineering and exploitation. • Supporting development of industry and DoD standards for future weapons systems to improve resistance to reverse engineering exploitation. • Working with industry to assess tamper resistance of current weapons systems within the acquisition development cycle. • Experience or having familiarity with state-of-the-art exploitation equipment and instrumentation to evaluate current and new processors, memory units, and electronic circuits to exploit weaknesses, identify improvements to design, and develop new standards to deter technological exploitation.
