Compensation$90K - 130K a year

Develop full stack cloud-native SaaS solutions with balanced front-end and back-end responsibilities, focusing on Angular and Java on Azure. | Strong Java and Angular skills, experience with Azure cloud and microservices, ability to write own tests, and some data background. | Senior Software Engineer – Full Stack (SaaS, Azure, Data & Analytics) About eNGINE: eNGINE builds Technical Teams. We are a Solutions and Placement firm shaped by decades of interaction with Technical professionals. Our inspiration is continuous learning and engagement with the markets we serve, the talent we represent, and the teams we build. Our Consulting Workforce is encouraged to enjoy career fulfillment in the form of challenging projects, schedule flexibility, and paid training/certifications. Successful outcomes start and finish with eNGINE. About the Role: We're looking for a true full stack engineer to join a team building cloud-native SaaS solutions in the data and analytics space. This isn't a back-end-heavy role dressed up as full stack — we need someone genuinely comfortable on both ends, roughly 50/50 front and back. If you're an 80/20 developer in either direction, this one won't be the right fit. This is a 100% remote position. You'll need to be comfortable working East Coast hours, since the team collaborates and overlaps on EST. What You'll Do: • Build and maintain modern UIs using Angular, JavaScript, and TypeScript • Design and develop APIs and microservices on Azure • Work across a cloud-native stack, contributing to both application and data layers • Write and maintain your own tests — this team doesn't have a separate QA function, so developers own quality for their own code • Collaborate with a team that's currently stronger on the back end, bringing solid front-end skills to help balance things out • Work with data pipelines and contribute wherever your data background is useful What You Need: • Strong hands-on experience with Java • Solid Angular experience, plus JavaScript/TypeScript • Experience with cloud platforms — Azure strongly preferred • Hands-on experience with micro frontend architectures (e.g., module federation, independently deployable UI components) • Experience building and working with microservices and APIs • Comfort writing your own tests, even if testing isn't your specialty • Some background working with data — this team sits within data and analytics, so any exposure here is a plus Nice to Have: • Experience with Snowflake or other cloud data platforms • Experience with AKS, Azure Functions, or Azure DevOps/CI-CD pipelines Next Steps: No C2C, relocation, referral, or sponsorship candidates for this role. Staff Software Engineer, Groups Shopping

EngineAnywhereFull-time
View Job
Compensation$90K - 150K a year

Lead technical architecture and AI integration for Groups Shopping team while mentoring engineers. | Extensive TypeScript and Node.js experience, AWS and CI/CD expertise, AI-first development background, and leadership skills. | About Engine At Engine, we’re transforming business travel into something personalized, rewarding, and simple. For too long, managing travel and spend has been overwhelming and fragmented — we’re here to change that. We believe the future of travel should be seamless and powered by technology that delights customers at every step. That’s why we’re building a platform that brings together corporate travel, a powerful charge card, and modern spend management in one place. To make this vision real, we’re looking for exceptional, mission-driven people to help redefine how businesses manage and experience travel. More than 30,000 companies already rely on Engine to support over 1 million travelers and billions in annual bookings each year. Cash flow positive with rapid growth, we pair exclusive Engine-only rates, industry-leading rewards, and intelligent automation to help businesses save money while delivering world-class personalization and convenience. Backed by Telescope Partners, Blackstone, and Permira, Engine has been recognized as one of the fastest-growing travel and fintech platforms in North America, with honors including the Deloitte Fast 500 and Built In’s Best Places to Work. Your Mission You will be the senior technical leader for Groups Shopping at Engine — the team that owns how group travel organizers discover and select hotels. We are building a world class travel shopping experience, and improving our property-ranking system to better understand what an organizer is looking for. You will help drive that work, set the technical bar, and make sure we ship with high quality. This role exists to push three things forward: Property ranking that earns its weight. Hotel discovery is the highest-leverage moment in the group booking funnel and historically the place where ranking has been least intelligent. Optimizing how we score, sort, and present properties — using a mix of behavioral data, response signals, fit signals, and LLM reasoning — is core to what this team is being asked to do. Step-change scale. Groups is heading toward an order-of-magnitude increase in volume. The systems we build this year have to deliver conversion gains that compound, hold up under multiples of today's load, and not get undone by the operational drag of fast growth. AI inside the product. The most interesting UX advances in Groups travel right now come from putting AI directly in the organizer's hands — embedded assistance that helps them search, compare, and decide without leaving the flow. You will help define and ship the surfaces where this happens, including the seam between the product and the AI tools that drive it What You'll Own Architecture for Groups Shopping. The hotel discovery, scoring, and selection surfaces — and the integration points where ranking, search, and AI in the product come together. The technical bar. You are the gate for quality on this team. Code review on hard PRs, design review on every meaningful change, "is this the right abstraction" calls before they become permanent. AI in the workflow. Both the agentic coding posture inside the team (we expect every engineer to be using Claude Code, Cursor, or equivalent every day) and the agentic product surfaces — tool definitions for AI surfaces in the product, prompt and skill design where needed, scoping which problems the LLM should and shouldn't own. AWS and CI/CD. Our backend runs on AWS — services, queues, data pipelines, ECS/Lambda where appropriate. You will own non-trivial infrastructure decisions and be the person who makes our deploy and CI story sharper. Mentorship and unblocking. Pairing with senior engineers, running design reviews, writing the docs that make the next person's job easier, being the named contact when another team needs a Groups Shopping perspective. What We're Looking For Must-haves TypeScript and Node in production at scale. We are open to other modern backend languages on your résumé, but our stack is TS/Node and you should be ready to be productive in it within weeks. AI-first as a daily practice, not a talking point. You are actively using agentic coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor) and you have a point of view on where they help, where they hurt, and how to set the team's defaults. We will ask you to walk us through a real example of how you use them. Deep AWS and CI/CD. Not "I've used Lambda before." Closer to: you can debug a misbehaving ECS service in production, you have opinions on IaC, and you can sharpen a slow CI pipeline. Cross-functional, multi-level communication. You can write a one-page tech doc that a PM can review, run a design discussion with three other staff engineers, and walk a senior leader through a trade-off without a slide deck. Comfort leading and running a team. Not as a manager — as the most senior engineer the team leans on for direction, sequencing, and quality. You've done this before and it's a part of the job you actually like. Nice-to-haves Deep TypeScript / Node — internals, performance, type-system fluency. Product experience — you can wear a PM hat for an afternoon and think from the customer's seat. Travel, hospitality, marketplace background. React Native familiarity Compensation Our compensation packages are based on several factors, including your experience, expertise, and location. In addition to a competitive base salary, total compensation may include equity and/or variable pay (OTE). Your recruiter will share your complete compensation package as you move through the process. Base Pay Range $159,000—$220,000 USD The Engine Edge: Perks & Compensation We believe in rewarding great work with great benefits: Compensation: Competitive base pay tied to role and experience, with opportunities for bonuses, commissions, and equity. Benefits: Check out our full list at engine.com/culture. Environments for Success: Different roles have different needs in terms of the environments that drive success which is why we have a hybrid-hub model. Lead operating cadence and resource allocation to execute strategic initiatives and act as an operating partner to executive leadership using data and AI. | Over 12 years experience in business operations or strategy in high-growth tech or SaaS with strong executive presence and team leadership. ABOUT THE ROLE At Engine, we're transforming business travel and doing it with unparalleled speed, heart, and hustle. We're building the operating infrastructure to support our next stage of growth, and we need a Sr. Director of Business Operations to lead that effort. This person will be the architect who will make the whole company run deliberately. Business Ops at Engine is the strategy and operating arm of the company, not a support function. As the Sr Director of Business Operations, you'll own our planning cycles, resource allocation decisions, and the execution infrastructure behind our most important initiatives. You'll sit at the intersection of strategy, data, and execution, shaping how Engine sets priorities, makes decisions, and moves fast without losing focus. The question you'll answer every day: Is the business pointed in the right direction, and are we executing at pace? You'll report to the Chief People Officer and work in lockstep partnership with the CEO and Executive Leadership Team (ELT). You'll build and lead a centralized team deployed against our top strategic initiatives and biggest bets to ensure that what we've committed to actually lands. WHAT YOU'LL DO Own Engine's Operating Cadence: Design and run the company-wide planning rhythms (MBRs, QBRs, annual planning) that keep the business aligned. Transition reporting to async models so leadership meetings focus entirely on debates and decisions. Drive Strategic Planning & Resource Allocation: Partner with Finance, People, and the ELT to translate company strategy into financial models, headcount plans, and clear enterprise goals. Lead High-Stakes Execution: Serve as the DRI for cross-functional "big bets," ensuring the right resources are deployed against our hardest problems, from initial business case through delivery. Provide Executive Visibility & Analytics: Drive objective visibility into initiative health. Build the dashboards, telemetry, and reporting pulses that give the ELT a real-time look at the business. Serve as an ELT Operating Partner: Synthesize complex data across product, sales, and operations to identify misalignments, unblock bottlenecks, and enable rapid, well-informed executive decision-making. Build the Centralized Ops Function: Scale a high-performing pool of Program Managers and Business Operators, allocating them dynamically to where the organization's friction points are highest. Embed AI-Driven Efficiency: Champion an AI-first approach to operations. Automate the operating cadence and data collection where possible, ensuring the business gains operational leverage as it scales. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR 12+ years of experience in business operations, corporate strategy, program management or Chief of Staff roles—with a proven track record in a leadership capacity at a high-growth tech or SaaS company. A Strategic Operator, Not a Process Imposer: You look at where the business needs to go, challenge assumptions with data, and build minimal structure that enables speed. You understand how to drive operational discipline without defaulting to heavy, rigid planning or dogmatic OKR frameworks. Mastery of Scale: You've owned an annual planning process and cross-functional prioritization cadence at a company experiencing rapid organizational scale. Thrives in High-Performance, Low-Consensus Environments: You excel in a blunt, direct, and high-standards culture. You actively prefer radical transparency, candor over comfort, and making the right call over achieving a consensus. Persuasion Through Conviction: Exceptional executive presence. You can synthesize deep complexity into crisp narratives, debate constructively with the ELT, and earn trust through rigorous logic rather than just process design. People Leader & Coach: Experience hiring, structuring, and developing high-performing, versatile teams of operators. Extreme Comfort with Ambiguity: You thrive when priorities, structures, and systems are in motion simultaneously, creating order out of chaos without slowing teams down. Compensation Our compensation packages are based on several factors, including your experience, expertise, and location. In addition to a competitive base salary, total compensation may include equity and/or variable pay (OTE). Your recruiter will share your complete compensation package as you move through the process. Base Pay Range $225,000—$275,000 USD The Engine Edge: Perks & Compensation We believe in rewarding great work with great benefits: Compensation: Competitive base pay tied to role and experience, with opportunities for bonuses, commissions, and equity.
