Essential Functions • Independently produces finished plans, specifications and approval of materials and construction on moderate to large scale projects • Provide professional consultation and coordination of the planning and development of construction and design document production and provides technical expertise to ensure coordinated and high-quality documents. • Perform construction administration duties, such as site visits, RFI responses, submittals, and punch list reviews. • Create and review projects reports, estimates, calculations, specifications, and compile/analyze relevant data. • Responsible to monitor billing efficiency rates and work at maximizing team’s quality and efficiency in assigned tasks. • Proactively coordinates meetings with client, project team, consultants, and contractor meetings to ensure trust and confidence. • Provide technical guidance to less experienced project associates and interns. • Involve explorations of subject area, definition of scope, selection of items for investigation, and development of complex or novel concepts and methods. • Contribute innovative design ideas that consistently capture the intended design vision. • Contribute to bold design solutions that balance scale, aesthetics, and context to maximize the impact to the individual and community. We utilize extensive expertise in circularity, mass timber, and inclusive design to foster meaningful change for non-profit, educational, cultural, and public-sector clients. About The Role We welcome interns from community colleges, undergraduate, and graduate programs, as well as those without formal architecture education or who have already completed their studies. This summer internship provides exposure to many aspects of the design process. We do not expect candidates to have prior work or architecture experience, but strong design skills and excellent communication abilities are essential. You will likely work on design iterations and massings, develop plans, sections, and elevations, coordinate with rendering consultants, create diagrams, engage with community members, build models and mockups, and participate in other early-stage design activities. Location We are based in East Hollywood, just a short walk from the Metro stop at LA City College (Vermont/Santa Monica Station on the B Line/Red Line). Hours Our schedule is a modified Friday-off system, typically starting around 8-9 am and ending around 6-7 pm, with a one-hour lunch break, depending on project deadlines.
