Stayner Architects Employer Los Angeles, CA, USLocation: InternshipType Sat, Jan 24 '26Posted on: About Stayner Architects Stayner Architects is a design and research firm dedicated to creating high-performance buildings that positively influence their communities. We utilize extensive expertise in circularity, mass timber, and inclusive design to foster meaningful change for non-profit, educational, cultural, and public-sector clients. About The Role We welcome interns from community colleges, undergraduate, and graduate programs, as well as those without formal architecture education or who have already completed their studies. This summer internship provides exposure to many aspects of the design process. We do not expect candidates to have prior work or architecture experience, but strong design skills and excellent communication abilities are essential. You will likely work on design iterations and massings, develop plans, sections, and elevations, coordinate with rendering consultants, create diagrams, engage with community members, build models and mockups, and participate in other early-stage design activities. Location We are based in East Hollywood, just a short walk from the Metro stop at LA City College (Vermont/Santa Monica Station on the B Line/Red Line). Hours Our schedule is a modified Friday-off system, typically starting around 8-9 am and ending around 6-7 pm, with a one-hour lunch break, depending on project deadlines. Wednesdays may be remote, based on workload. Compensation This is a paid position, available part-time or full-time during the school year and/or summer. Specific details, including start date and duration, will be discussed with the candidate. Key Responsibilities You will be responsible for producing design materials under the supervision of the principal and staff, working both independently and collaboratively. About You You are a talented designer with an eye for form, material, color, texture, and composition. We seek proactive, personable professionals who are passionate about mixing experimental research with technical precision in a studio environment that values engaging with human culture as much as aesthetic innovation. Skills Needed Required Technical Skills: Proficiency in Rhino3D and Adobe Creative Suite. Additional Skills: Experience in graphic design, publication layouts, physical model-making, and familiarity with Revit. Skills in website design and publication layout are also valued. Additional Considerations Applicants must provide proof of US citizenship or authorization to work in the United States to be considered. As an LGBTBE, Stayner Architects and its affiliates are equal opportunity employers that promote diversity throughout the organization. All qualified applicants, regardless of personal characteristics, are encouraged to apply. We consider candidates with criminal histories in accordance with the Los Angeles Fair Chance Initiative for Hiring, Ordinance No. 184652, and California Fair Chance Act (AB-1008). We aim for transparency. Application: Please submit a cover letter, resume, and a brief portfolio (less than 15MB) via our employment portal: https://app.smartsheet.com/b/form/24e60ffc60274a1aa463ec98d72b82b1 No phone inquiries, please. We will respond to questions by email, but may not reply individually to all submissions. Applications will be reviewed immediately. First Round Interviews: Expected in early February. Second Round: We will request references at this stage, with timing to be determined. Reference Checks: We may contact some references. Offer: We prefer to start the position in April or May, but are flexible.
