Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for executives, operators, and the field. | What we’re working on: We’re a team of startup engineers working on a new product within Amplitude. Here’s what drives us: It’s crazy how little software has changed over the past 20 years. It’s gotten a lot more powerful, but users still mostly do the same things - find the right page, find the right button, google how to do something, etc. We believe software should flex to meet users where they are rather than the other way around. We’re building an AI-powered personal chaperone for users, embedded into websites and apps. | We’re building AI interfaces that don’t suck. The AI Team at Amplitude is creating new product experiences powered by intelligent agents — but we care just as much about how they show up in the UI as we do about the backend. If you’ve ever used an AI product and thought, “Why is this so unhelpful” you’re in the right place. This role is for a fullstack engineer who leans frontend, has a strong product sense, and cares deeply about quality. You’ll own experiences end-to-end, from system design to pixel polish, and help define what “usable” AI feels like. You’ll be part of a small, scrappy, high-context team working across the entire LLM stack — from prompt design to infra to monitoring to customer-facing UX. We move fast, own our work, and prioritize quality + learning over throwing models at the wall. It’s ambitious, but we think this team has the potential to build something that becomes bigger than Amplitude’s core business in a short period of time. And we have the support of the company to do that. What you’ll do: Build fullstack features with a bias to frontend and UX ownership Craft thoughtful, fast, responsive UI components that interact with LLMs and agents Work closely with backend engineers to build bridges into orchestration and infra Pair with PMs and designers to rapidly iterate on new ideas and prototypes Help define best practices for AI UX — what does great prompting, feedback, and fallback look like? Own the end-user experience and obsess over polish You might be a fit if: You have 6+ years of fullstack engineering experience You care deeply about design, usability, and building products people love You have strong product intuition and proactively identify improvements without being asked You’re comfortable moving fast and making smart tradeoffs You’ve worked in early-stage or zero-to-one teams before You’re curious about AI and excited to shape how it gets surfaced to users Bonus if: You’ve built LLM apps, agents, or tools before You’ve been part of a small startup or skunkworks team and thrived in uncertainty You’ve been a founder or early-stage at a startup Why us? Scale — We’re a $300M+ ARR business and are working closely with our customers to co-develop this next product. Data — the existing analytics infra we’ve built puts us in a unique position to build useful AI products Org commitment — We are all in on this and devoting lots of company $ to it. This isn’t a sideshow research project. Tight team — We’re keeping the team intentionally small and insulating it from org bloat — no roadmap review, etc. Work closely with the Amplitude co-founders We’re betting the next chapter of Amplitude is AI-native — and this team is leading that charge.
