We strive to create an environment of inclusion—one focused on psychological safety, empathy, and human connection—that will allow employees of all backgrounds to thrive. About the Team DevX owns engineering velocity at Amplitude: build systems, CI/CD, developer environments, and internal tooling. We're building a software factory: automated workflows that remove manual bottlenecks from how engineers ship code. The Role We're looking for a Staff Software Engineer who bridges infrastructure and application thinking and can accelerate how the whole team develops, tests, and ships in the cloud. You'll set architecture for our developer platform, lead our software factory work, and push our development model toward cloud-first workflows. This is a high-leverage, low-oversight role. You'll own initiatives end to end, from an ambiguous problem to production, and set technical direction for a foundational team. What You'll Do Cloud development platform: Unify and scale our existing local, remote, and ephemeral development environments across a polyglot codebase. Make it fast and reliable for engineers and AI agents to provision environments, build, test, debug, and validate changes, with reproducible test data and clear access controls. Software factory: Find the biggest bottleneck in the engineering workflow, automate it, then move to the next one. This increasingly means building the sandboxes and tooling that let AI agents do the work directly, not just assist with it. Developer experience & tooling: Own build systems, CI/CD, developer environments, and internal tooling. Drive down build/CI time, deploy risk, and feedback latency. Technical leadership: Set direction and standards, turn ambiguous problems into roadmaps, and mentor senior/staff engineers through design review and pairing. What We're Looking For Staff-level engineering experience and impact. Full-stack, infra-leaning skills, strong on the backend and systems side. Experience moving a team's development workflow into the cloud (VMs, remote environments, preview branches, sandboxes). A track record of shipping developer tooling or platform infrastructure that measurably improved velocity. Hands-on experience building agentic or AI-powered engineering workflows, used responsibly with human oversight. Strong judgment, clear writing, and the ability to drive alignment without formal authority. Nice to Have Monorepo tooling or large-scale platform migrations. Agent harness infrastructure: eval frameworks, orchestration, or sandboxing for LLMs. Who We Are The Company: Amplitude is filled with humble, life-long learners who are eager to help one another and the company succeed. Our values of growth mindset, ownership, and humility are core to the way we work: we’re tenacious in the face of challenges, we take the initiative to solve problems that drive our shared success, and we operate from a place of empathy and openness, seeking to understand many points of view. The Product: Amplitude is a digital analytics platform—we help companies capture data they can trust, uncover clear insights about customer behavior, and take faster action. Senior Software Engineer, Enterprise Engineering

AmplitudeSan Francisco, CaliforniaFull-time
View Job
Compensation$70K - 150K a year

Manage technical issues for enterprise customers from diagnosis to resolution, design and implement features, and improve tooling and documentation. | Strong software engineering experience with backend and distributed systems depth, excellent debugging skills, and effective communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders. | Amplitude is the leading AI analytics platform, helping over 4,700 customers—including Atlassian, Burger King, NBCUniversal, and Square—build better products and digital experiences. With powerful AI Agents embedded across our platform, teams can analyze, test, and optimize user experiences faster than ever. Ranked #1 across multiple categories in G2’s Winter 2026 Report, Amplitude is the best-in-class solution for product, data, and marketing teams. Learn more at amplitude.com. As an organization, we deliver for our customers by living our values. We operate from a place of humility, take ownership of problems and successes, approach challenges with a growth mindset, and put our customers at the center of everything we do. Amplitude’s Commitment to Diversity Equity & Inclusion (DEI): Amplitude believes that diversity enables the creation of better products, improves the ability to solve complex problems, and drives more powerful solutions. We strive to create an environment of inclusion—one focused on psychological safety, empathy, and human connection—that will allow employees of all backgrounds to thrive. The Senior Enterprise Engineer opportunity Statsig is building an Enterprise Engineering team for engineers who want unusually direct ownership of high-stakes customer outcomes. Like a Forward Deployed Engineering team, Enterprise Engineering works extremely close to customers and tackles the technical problems that matter most to them. The difference is the scope of ownership. Forward Deployed Engineering is often concentrated around implementation or onboarding; Enterprise Engineering is responsible for a customer’s technical success throughout the entire customer journey. You’ll stay close as needs evolve, answering questions, investigating across the stack, identifying root causes, shipping fixes and features, and remaining accountable through resolution. This is a software engineering role with a tight customer feedback loop. It is ideal for a pragmatic generalist, especially someone with backend or infrastructure depth who enjoys ambiguous problems, production systems, fast decisions, and immediate impact. What you’ll do Serve on the engineering front line in Unthread, our Slack aggregation and workflow layer, for key customer accounts. Answer technical questions by reading the code, tracing behavior, inspecting production signals, and building a clear explanation, not by forwarding the thread. Diagnose and fix bugs, then validate the outcome with the customer. Design and implement product or platform features when doing so is the fastest, highest-quality way to solve the customer’s problem. Act as the engineering point of contact for urgent issues in key customer accounts’ Slack channels, coordinating the response while retaining technical ownership. Represent engineering in customer office hours and, for selected accounts, recurring weekly meetings. Partner closely with customer-facing and product teams while maintaining crisp ownership, communication, and escalation paths. Identify recurring patterns and improve tooling, documentation, observability, APIs, and product surfaces so the next issue is easier, or never occurs. Help define the operating model, technical standards, and culture of a new team. What success looks like Enterprise customers get fast, technically credible responses and feel that one engineer owns the problem through the finish line. A meaningful share of customer issues are resolved by Enterprise Engineering without disrupting product-team roadmaps. You ship high-quality fixes and features across unfamiliar parts of the stack while preserving reliability and maintainability. Recurring customer pain becomes durable product, platform, or operational improvement. You earn trust with customers and internal teams through sound judgment, decisive execution, and clear communication under pressure. What we’re looking for Strong software engineering experience and the ability to contribute production-quality code in a large, evolving codebase. A generalist mindset with meaningful depth in backend, distributed systems, infrastructure, data systems, or developer platforms. Excellent debugging instincts: you can move from an imprecise report to a reproducible problem, root cause, and robust fix. Comfort operating in production, using logs, traces, metrics, and code to reason about system behavior. Bias toward action without sacrificing engineering quality; you know when to make the contained fix, when to invest in a broader solution, and when to escalate. Clear, empathetic communication with both deeply technical and non-technical stakeholders. Composure and good judgment in urgent situations. Low ego and high ownership. You enjoy crossing team and system boundaries to get the right outcome. You may be especially excited about this role if… You like learning a broad codebase and becoming effective in unfamiliar systems quickly. You want customer proximity because it makes you a sharper engineer and gives your work a shorter path to impact. You enjoy the mix of debugging, systems thinking, product judgment, and hands-on implementation. You are energized by building a new team and defining what excellent enterprise engineering looks like. Why Amplitude Work on a product used by thousands of companies to make better decisions Be part of a team that’s expanding beyond analytics into a full digital optimization platform Join a culture that values ownership, velocity, and craft Have outsized impact on a top company priority Our values: At Amplitude, our values guide how we show up for one another and for our customers: Humility: We operate from a place of empathy and openness, seeking to understand many points of view.
