Box 909 Louisville, KY 40201-0909 Shift: Job Description Summary: Clinical Support Analyst II serves as an integral member of the IT Cerner Support team. Key responsibilities include direct involvement with the development, implementation, training and support of the electronic health record (EHR). This employee will use their detailed knowledge of the electronic health record and their ability to analyze processes/systems to impact the organizations’ strategic initiatives and patient experience. Job Description: • Assists in the development, maintenance and support of Cerner and other clinical systems for the area of responsibility • Provides input and guidance to build and design teams regarding build, optimization, training plans, goals, and implementation within their defined area • Coordinates discussions with hospital department leaders, end users and IT Teams providing expertise on workflows of the clinical applications • Establishes plans for supporting super-user groups • Supports and leads evaluations of IT updates and revisions; establishes priorities and plans for release schedules • Ensures that maintenance releases are properly tested and quality assured prior to production • Supports and leads incident management processes and escalates issues as appropriate • Provides mentoring and training to application analysts I in system analysis & design, specification development and documentation, and end-user training with ULH prescribed methodologies • Completes assigned tasks per defined project scope, timelines, and budgets for implementations; works to prescribed methodologies for all project implementations • May work on multiple implementations at any given time Additional Job Description: Education: • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Information Science, Computer Science, Informatics or related field (required) Experience: • Seven years of prior Cerner Clinical applications experience or other EHR implementation and/or support experience (preferred) • Experience with healthcare IT applications and knowledge of healthcare environment and system configuration (preferred) Certifications: • Certification on any of the following Cerner modules (preferred): • CCL • ESH • Cerner Rules • PathNet

Job Summary: Initiates the appeal process, at the direction of Revenue Cycle management, until the case is overturned, appeal options are exhausted, or decision is made to discontinue process. This position assumes the responsibility for coordinating and appealing technical denials and working closely with the HIM Appeals Specialist responsible for clinical appeals. Ability to review and determine reason for insurance denial of claims Review and appeal unpaid claims daily and submit appeal timely. Develop appeal letters to substantiate overturning denial, i.e. coverage, authorization, non-covered services, contract issue, timely filing limit, etc. Develop and maintain detail denial inventory list Tracks and trends progress and outcomes of denial and appeal processes and compiles reports for Revenue Cycle leadership Completes follow-up work on appealed claims. Works with insurance carriers on appeal issues. Ensure clinical appeals are submitted to the HIM department Monitor the payments to assure reimbursement from third-party payers is accurate based on payer contract. Reviews denials for accuracy. Stays abreast of payer updates for authorizations, eligibility, etc and communicates to Revenue Cycle leadership Documents all activity in Revenue Cycle system. Attends continue education programs Other duties as assigned. MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE High School education or GED required. 1-3 years of prior billing, collection, or appeals KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES Knowledge of medical terminology. Clear and concise written communication skills and development of professional letters. Basic Microsoft Office knowledge. Ability to foresee projects from start to finish.
