Assist classroom teachers in supporting student learning and behavior, supervise students, and participate in staff activities. | Requires completion of at least two years of higher education, passing scores on specific assessments, and proficiency in Microsoft Office. | Summary: U Prep Paraprofessionals are responsible for assisting the classroom teacher in the educational and social development of all of the students. Duties and Responsibilities: The primary duties and areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to, the following: • Works under the guidance of a certified teacher • Provide instructional support to individuals or small groups of students identified by a certified teacher • Provide intervention tailored to individual student needs, under the guidance of a certified teacher • Supervises students during non-academic times (i.e. lunch, choice time, recess, teacher planning periods, arrival and dismissal, etc.) • Helps maintain an orderly, attractive classroom environment • Participates in all staff meetings and professional development • Maintains flexible daily routines that accommodate changing responsibilities and schedules • Supports teaching staff in any way that promotes the goals of U Prep Schools • All other duties as assigned Education and Certification Requirements • Completion of two years of study or more at an institution of higher education (equal to 60 semester hours) • Obtained an associate's degree or higher • ETS ParaPro Assessment with a passing score or 460 • Michigan Test for Teacher Certification - Basic Skills (MTTC) • WorkKeys® through June 1, 2017. After June 1, 2017, MDE requires the use of the other credit or assessment options. Anyone that has passed the Reading for Information, Applied Mathematics, and Writing portions of the WorkKeys® prior to June 1, 2017 will still meet the state requirements. • Must provide an official transcript • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Mac or PC platform (as applicable to location) Skills • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Mac or PC platform (as applicable to location) • Strong communication skills, verbal and written • Strong time management skills with attention to detail • Must possess a disciplined work style with the ability to show comparable urgency with proactive work as with deadline-driven work • Willing and able to adjust to multiple demands and shifting priorities while demonstrating flexibility and resilience • Proven ability to thrive in a self-directed, fast-paced environment with constantly changing priorities
