The Cloud Platforms & Architectures Department (CPAD) is the center-of-excellence for cloud computing and cloud-related technologies within The Aerospace Corporation. CPAD’s overall goal is to stay at the forefront of cloud technology to enable our customers to effectively leverage it to fulfill their space mission needs. CPAD works with commercial cloud, cyber, and AI vendors to help our government customers understand how cutting-edge technologies can best be applied to pioneering space missions. We are looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager (Senior Project Leader, Software Architecture Engineering & Cloud Computing Architecture) to lead engagements with these mission owners and technology vendors, helping bring together stakeholders from across the tech industry to help the government more rapidly adopt cloud, cyber, and AI solutions. This role will provide corporate cloud, cyber, and AI leadership to develop and sustain a vision for increased engagements between cutting-edge commercial technology vendors and government space missions. This is a fulltime position that can be based in El Segundo, CA, Colorado Springs, CO or Chantilly Va which requires 100% onsite work. What You’ll Be Doing Own the strategy, planning, and execution for engagements between The Aerospace Corporation, government customers, and commercial cloud, cyber, and AI technology vendors. Work with senior leaders from Aerospace, government, and commercial partners to influence space missions and build new partnerships. Collaborate with cloud, cyber, and AI experts and leadership across departments to build cross-functional technical teams to achieve project goals. Lead teams researching cutting edge cloud, cyber, and AI technologies and developing prototypes to demonstrate and benchmark their capabilities for government space missions. Lead deep technical discussions with government customers and cloud, cyber, and AI vendors to ensure solutions are designed for successful deployment in cloud. Work across corporate stakeholders to assess cloud environment needs for commercial cloud, cyber, and AI research and prototyping. Collaborate with mission owners to integrate space-based platforms (e.g., small satellites) into cloud, cyber, and AI research and prototyping environments. Create and deliver presentations to internal teams, executives, and external stakeholders. What You Need to be Successful – Senior Project Leader – Cloud Computing Architecture Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, software engineering, or a related STEM field. At least 12 years of experience working with software, IT systems, and related technologies. At least 5 years of experience working with cloud, cybersecurity, and AI systems. Proven track record of leading engineering teams, coordinating complex technical tasks among team members, and translating customer needs into viable instructions for engineers. Demonstrated ability to initiate and complete tasks, learn new technical approaches, and interact effectively with a broad range of organizations. Successful history of promoting positive team dynamics, mentoring team members, and working effectively with multidisciplinary teams. In depth knowledge of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, roadmaps, and risk management. In depth knowledge and hands on experience with at least one public cloud vendor (e.g., Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform). Experience in designing, developing, implementing, operating, and evolving cloud, cyber, and AI systems to support customers. Willing to travel domestically to work locations, customer sites, and conferences up to 25%, if required. This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
