The primary focus of this role is to build subject matter expertise in U.S. international tax laws and GAAP reporting requirements for foreign taxes. This position works closely with foreign affiliate teams to collect and review tax reporting information, assists in identifying and resolving tax financial reporting issues, and supports various international tax matters, including transfer pricing and audit defense, as needed. While the ideal candidate will be based in one of our office locations-New Orleans, Oak Brook, or Coral Gables-we remain open to remote arrangements for strong candidates whose experience aligns closely with the demands of this role. Essential Functions: Tax Financial Reporting and Analysis • Collaborates with foreign affiliate teams to compile and maintain foreign affiliate tax provisions for U.S. GAAP financial reporting • Assists with the identification, measurement, and recognition of tax attributes and positions • Develops a working knowledge of various foreign tax laws and reporting positions Tax Compliance • Prepares Foreign Tax Credit (FTC) utilization calculations, including sourcing data and performing other U.S. international tax computations (e.g., BEAT, NCTI) • Prepares U.S. federal tax reporting schedules and forms • Maintains accurate and complete records for all U.S. international and foreign tax-related filings Tax Planning and Transactions • Researches tax implications of new or pending laws, regulations, and rulings • Performs modeling of tax guidance changes to quantify potential impacts • Drafts technical position memoranda Tax Systems and Operations • Assists in documenting current tax processes • Helps maintain and optimize various tax software systems Education & Experience: • Required: A Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) in Accounting or a related field, 0-2 years of corporate tax and/or public tax accounting experience, and an active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license • Preferred: Master's degree in Taxation (MST) or a related graduate-level tax program Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs): • Familiarity with U.S. federal international tax law and reporting requirements (e.g., Subpart F, Forms 5471, 8858, 8992 (GILTI/NCTI), 1118, 8991 (BEAT)) • Foundational understanding of ASC 740 reporting concepts • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Proficiency with Microsoft Office • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills • Ability to learn and utilize company financial systems • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines • Advanced technology skills a plus: Advanced Excel, VBA, Alteryx, Power Query, Power BI, and/or Python • Bilingual Spanish/English a plus What We Offer: • Competitive compensation package (base salary & bonus) • Comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, 401(k), paid time off, and tuition reimbursement • Medical and dental coverage effective the first of the month following 30 days of service • Hybrid work opportunities About Us: Pan-American Life Insurance Group (PALIG) serves the life, accident, and health insurance needs of individuals and businesses across 49 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands through its U.S.-based member companies-Pan-American Life Insurance Company and Pan-American Assurance Company. This position must have strong customer service skills combined with a solid background in desktop operating systems and applications, networking infrastructure along with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to be able to assist both technical and non-technical customers. This position will be based out of our Oak Brook, IL. office. Responsibilities • Technical Point of Contact: Technical point of contact for all employees • Demonstrate a friendly and helpful customer service attitude • Resolve problems by clearly listening, researching, identifying root cause and recommending a solution.
