A Bachelor's degree and 3 years of experience as a Software Developer are required, with the possibility of substituting additional relevant work experience for the degree. Bilingual skills in Spanish and English are preferred.
Pan-American Life Insurance Group (PALIG) is seeking a Senior Software Developer to join the Information Technology team. The Senior Software Developer will need to: Expertly code, debug and document software that meets business requirements and technical specifications Adhere to standards and best practices for SDLC-related tasks associated with both the design and development of new application systems and the implementation of major projects Define and enforce controls for financially significant systems and analyze and design system security, performance enhancements, and conversion procedures Provide after-hours support as needed Troubleshoot and resolve application issues Possess expert knowledge in software development environments Understand and consider infrastructure impacts in the design of software solutions Identify and champion the adoption of departmental standards and best practices ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Design and Develop New Systems, as well as Existing Systems, with an Emphasis on Minimized Maintenance Requirements Confer with systems analysts, developers, and others to design systems and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces Analyze problem areas, design and implement system improvements and conversion procedures as needed Define and enforce checks and balances for operational controls for Financial Systems Design and recommend improved operational procedures to maximize system efficiencies and provide guidance to solving complex operation malfunctions Provide after-hour support for assigned applications as needed Responsible for the Design and Implementation of Approved Data Architecture, Integrity, and Security Mechanisms for IT Applications Responsible for system integrity and installation of technology upgrades Responsible for overall program/application performance and provide support in the resolution of program and application issues Provide technical input to other areas and gather data from outside the organization Suggest improvements and efficiencies modifications for supported applications Proactively and Independently Learn and Utilize New Technology, Concepts, and Procedures, as Appropriate to Project Requirements Maintain current knowledge of industry technology trends Mentor and support members of the application development staff In Collaboration with Systems and Business Analysts, Develop Testing Plans and Perform Unit Testing for Assigned Applications and Systems Plan and execute testing and implementation of major projects Develop implementation and training plans to support new programs/applications KEY REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of experience as a Software Developer, including basic skills in Information Technology, required (an additional 4 years of relevant work experience may be substituted in lieu of degree) KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Bilingual preferred (Spanish/English) Must have good oral and written communication skills Ability to operate a keyboard if required to perform the essential functions of the job Ability to read and interpret a document if required to perform the essential functions of the job Ability to travel if required to perform the essential functions of the job Ability to work under stressful conditions and competing deadlines Pan-American Life Insurance Group Offers: Comprehensive Compensation Packages (base & bonus) A Comprehensive Benefits Package: Medical, Dental, 401K, Paid Time Off, and Tuition Reimbursement (etc.) are some examples.
