Your role at a glance - There will be a high degree of autonomy within the role but ultimately working as part of the wider legal team and under the supervision and guidance of - and reporting to - the Senior Director, Legal, Global Construction & Power. - The Senior Legal Counsel is an experienced professional with excellent experience, knowledge and understanding of power, construction and related regulatory law (i.e. permitting, zoning + design), with a particular focus on the US market. - Whilst the role will focus on providing legal advice and guidance for NTT GDC in the US, there will be plentiful opportunities to participate in projects on a global basis. - The business is in a period of pursuing +1GW megadeals (mainly in the US) and there will be a focus as part of this role to act as lead power/construction attorney for such persuits. - The Senior Legal Counsel advises on global power and construction issues such as contracting methods and risks, evaluating potential means for improving global contracts and model forms, critical negotiations and terms of major transactions including regulatory and permitting issues, all power/construction procurement, PPAs and training for employees. - Familiarity in acting on prior GW megadeals (preferably in the US) or substantial megaprojects in a demonstrably comparable EPC industry, is mandatory. What we are looking for Key Roles and Responsibilities: • Provides legal support to business and/or operations on all forms of power and construction agreements, including (but not limited to) connection agreements, PPAs, heat & waste management, general contractor agreements, substation design & construction, equipment supply orders, OFCI procurement, LOIs & NDAs. • Reviews, negotiates and makes amendments to legal terms and conditions in power and construction agreements, including leading tender review processes for key business projects in the US and globally. • Act as lead project attorney for +1GW opportunities. • Prepares legal reports on the status of legal matters. • Liaising/collaborating closely with cross-functional teams (including Procurement, Regulatory, Finance & Treasury) on relevant project issues. • Responsible for identifying/mitigating, risk presented by power and construction contracts across NTT GDC to meet business CAPEX commitments. • Responsible for handling project disputes (including managing external counsel). • Advises company management on complex matters, using persuasion in delivering messages, with the ability to adapt style to differing audiences and often advises others on difficult matters, including potential risks in contractual, regulatory, compliance, financial, and legal areas. Your role at a glance Manager, Critical Facilities Operations What we are looking for Key Roles and Responsibilities: Provides applied electrical, mechanical, integrated control and water chemistry technical expertise for the entire data centre. Coordinates the activities of contractors and consultants for daily operations and critical maintenance (UPS systems, generators, switchgear and chiller maintenance). Ensures the CFOps team works effectively to achieve the CFOps goals. Manages budget, staff planning, NPS feedback, operational efficiency, etc. Directly interfaces with Construction management team, contractors and consultants for all phased data centre construction commissioning, including integration and testing of new systems while maintaining critical systems online Works with the Regional Director and Finance to develop and track annual budgets. Works with the Regional Director to track and complete an aggressive preventive and predicative maintenance schedule for critical maintenance and system commissioning. Ensures data centre operates at maximum operational efficiency, including analyzing existing operating conditions, recommending new technologies, improving overall efficiency and driving cost reduction. Conducts training with the Mechanical/Electrical Data Centre Technician and Facility Technicians on equipment, PM’s, QA and CFOps procedures/processes. Manages and maintains all training documentation. Manages systems to avoid unplanned, customer-impacting outages. Directly manages data floor and back of house electrical loading and capacity, including client installations and database systems. Participates in rotational on-call schedule to respond to emergency situations at the data centre. Provides site leadership, implements training, and acts as both a coach and mentor to site personnel. May require late night work approximately once every other week to meet critical maintenance windows and scheduling. Performs other duties as assigned. Regular, predictable attendance is essential for satisfactory performance. Knowledge, Skills and Attributes: Ability to be highly confidential Ability to work in a team environment Ability to manage stress and/or fast pace effectively Knowledge of current NFPA Electrical, Fire and Life Safety and building codes Knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, NFPA 72, NFPA 25 and compliance issues Expert knowledge in industrial safety best practices (i.e. lockout/tag out, arc flash protection, OSHA and state regulations) Familiarity with data trending / tracking and analysis and ability to rapidly learn and use PC based, integrated critical monitoring systems Excellent customer service skills Excellent verbal and written communications skills Must be detail oriented, organized, flexible and ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously Strong proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) Extensive hands-on experience installing, maintaining and troubleshooting large commercial and industrial mechanical & electrical systems including: o 12kV switchgear o 480/277 and 208/120 volt electrical generation and distribution systems o Diesel powered AC generator plants up to 3MW o Static UPS systems o Multi-string flooded cell and VRLA batteries and monitoring systems o Static switches o PLC and relay logic controls o Power monitoring systems o Data centre power distribution and management systems Demonstrated technical ability and innovative thinking cross functionally, including integrated systems and IT Strong background in mechanical, electrical systems design review, layout, installation, operations, including ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical one lines Ability to conduct power system capacity, safety and code compliance assessments Ability to train the Critical Facilities Staff on systems and procedures Ability to operate in and promote a rigorous process-driven, team environment Ability to logically analyze and solve problems Detailed oriented Analytical thinking, problem solving, customer oriented, and commitment to quality Excellent problem-solving skills Academic Qualifications and Certifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering or similar field required Required Experience: Advanced experience in data centre and/or critical facilities Proven experience managing and motivating critical facilities operations and maintenance teams/function Compensation Pay Range This position requires work to be done onsite at a data center facility and may require use of a personal mobile device. A monthly stipend will be provided to cover expenses incurred for using a personal device, if applicable. NTT Global Data Centers Americas, Inc. offers competitive compensation based on experience, education, and location. Base salary for this position is $124,600 - $171,300. All regular full-time employees are eligible for an annual bonus; payout is dependent upon individual and company performance.
