About the Role We are looking for a Staff Platform Engineer to take ownership of our infrastructure and developer experience. This is a unique role for someone who wants to remain deeply hands-on while also leading a small team of 2–4 engineers. You’ll consolidate responsibilities currently distributed across the org, and transition Platform Engineering into a focused, high-performing function inside Inspiren. You’ll partner closely with product engineering, data, and hardware teams while driving our efforts in CI/CD, observability, security, and compliance. What you'll do Infrastructure Management: Own the scalability, reliability, and cost-efficiency of our cloud-based infrastructure. Proactively monitor capacity to match growth, troubleshoot and resolve issues, and implement backups and disaster recovery processes. Observability & Incident Response: Build and operate monitoring, logging, and alerting systems (CloudWatch, Sentry, etc.) to detect issues before they impact customers. Participate in on-call, lead incident response, and drive blameless postmortems to continuously improve MTTR. CI/CD & Releases: Design, implement, and optimize pipelines that automate builds, tests, and deployments. Establish rollback procedures and runbooks for failed deployments, and continuously improve automation for both speed and reliability. Automated Quality: Implement a comprehensive automated testing strategy within CI/CD. Configure quality gates, integrate static analysis and security scans, expand unit and integration test coverage, and build dashboards to provide visibility into pipeline health. Security & Compliance: Apply and enforce security best practices in infrastructure, IAM, and deployments. Support SOC2 and HIPAA compliance through robust access controls, data protection strategies, and secure coding practices. Engineering Excellence: Partner with product and application engineers to ensure architectural decisions are reliable and scalable. Build a seamless onboarding experience so new engineers can set up environments quickly and confidently deploy their first changes. About You Experience: 8+ years in DevOps, SRE, or Platform/Infrastructure roles, with some leadership experience mentoring or guiding a small team. Cloud Infrastructure: Hands-on with AWS (Lambda, SQS, SNS, CloudFront, S3, RDS, etc.), scaling infrastructure, troubleshooting production workloads, and optimizing cost and performance. Strong experience with serverless architectures. CI/CD & Releases: Proven track record building and refining pipelines (GitHub Actions, CircleCI, Jenkins) with automated deployments, feature flags, rollbacks, backups, and disaster recovery. Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Skilled with Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar tools to manage infrastructure at scale. Observability & Monitoring: Strong experience with monitoring/telemetry tools (Datadog, CloudWatch, New Relic, Sentry), setting up dashboards, configuring alerts, and running incident response. Automated Quality: Familiarity with integrating tests, static analysis, and quality gates into CI/CD pipelines. IoT & Edge Systems: Familiarity with IoT platforms (e.g., AWS IoT Core), embedded Linux environments, and media/streaming pipelines (e.g., gStreamer). Experience with OTA update frameworks (e.g., Mender, Yocto) is a plus.
