Compensation: Total compensation ranges from $120,000 to $140,000 annually (including base salary and performance-based bonus), flexible depending on experience and fit.

Position Summary Epic is seeking a visionary Studio Head / Acquisitions Editor to lead a new imprint within our Epic Originals content team. This role is ideal for a strategic, entrepreneurial publishing leader who is excited to build a publishing program from the ground up and take ownership of both creative and business outcomes. In this role, you will drive the editorial and commercial strategy for the imprint, acquire standout children's content, and develop a slate of ebooks with strong potential to grow into long-term series or franchises. While editing experience is valuable, this position is best suited for a business-minded leader who thrives in building, scaling, and refining a content portfolio. Key Responsibilities • Serve as the creative and business owner for a new Epic Originals imprint • Define and drive the long-term vision, acquisition strategy, and publishing roadmap • Build, manage, and track budgets in partnership with the VP of Content and Finance • Deliver 10–20 ebooks annually, providing regular milestone updates to the executive team • Create and present compelling pitches to Epic's print publishing partner, Andrews McMeel • Leverage Epic platform trends and performance data to guide acquisition decisions • Develop a multi-year pipeline of acquisitions with strong growth potential • Identify content that is creatively strong and scalable into series or franchises • Proactively source top creative talent through trade shows, author events, and market research Qualifications • 7–10+ years of experience as an acquisitions editor or in a similar publishing role • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) or equivalent professional experience • Prior experience at a major publishing house strongly preferred • Strong commercial instincts and editorial judgment • Editing experience is a plus • Comfortable working with basic financial spreadsheets and budget management • Comfortable reviewing performance data to monitor ebook success • Flexible and experienced across multiple children's genres • Established relationships with authors and literary agents Salary Range $80,000 base salary + bonus
