Working with clients in the areas of substance use disorders, maternal/child health, rare disease, heart disease, kidney disease and more. RESPONSIBILITIES • Provide day-to-day support for grassroots advocacy, public affairs initiatives, and communications campaigns across multiple clients, working closely with account managers and senior team members to execute client activities • Monitor news, hearings, and other developments related to legislative and regulatory activity, particularly on health care and public policy issues relevant to clients • Build and maintain mailing lists of key stakeholders, including congressional staff, third-party organizations, patient advocates, and other influencers, using digital grassroots advocacy platforms (e.g., Quorum, Phone2Action) and standard Microsoft/Google spreadsheet tools • Assist with drafting and editing written materials such as statements, issue or policy briefs, talking points, fact sheets, legislative support letters, and internal summaries • Support in-person and virtual meetings by assisting with scheduling and logistics, preparing agendas, taking notes, and drafting follow-up correspondence • Conduct research to support the development of strategic communications and public affairs plans, including identifying key stakeholders, summarizing policy issues, and contributing creative ideas • Assist with outreach and correspondence to external audiences, including third-party organizations, media, health care professionals, and policymakers • Support communications activities as needed, including drafting social media content, assisting with bylines and press materials, and helping with media lists and reporter research • Provide general administrative and team support, including assisting with internal initiatives and activities that contribute to CURA’s culture and collaborative environment QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor’s degree required (or expected within a defined timeframe) • Interest in public affairs, government relations, health care policy, or strategic communications • Basic understanding of the legislative and regulatory process, or a strong desire to learn • Strong writing, editing, and organizational skills, with attention to detail • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced, client-service environment • Proactive, positive attitude and willingness to learn from and support senior team members • Familiarity with digital advocacy tools (e.g., Quorum, Phone2Action), social media platforms, or relevant internships/coursework is a plus but not required Why Join CURA? • Work in a dynamic and collaborative environment dedicated to transforming health care. • Enjoy a flexible work-life balance with opportunities for career growth. • Be part of a team that values courage, positivity and hard work. Working with nonprofit and corporate clients in the areas of mental health, health disparities, cardiology, kidney disease and more, we pride ourselves in creating lasting results for clients – and we are looking for someone who shares our passion and believes in our mission. Responsibilities: • Support our VP of Media Relations in building and executing effective health care media strategies for our clients • Identify and develop content for media outreach, including newsworthy angles, timely topics, by-lines and op-eds • Proactively monitor news on a regular basis and identify reactive pitching opportunities for clients • Build effective targeted media lists and manage large-scale pitching efforts with support of junior staff • Prepare health care executives, practitioners and others for media interviews and presentations • Maintain and grow relationships with reporters across top-tier, business, consumer and health care industry outlets • Contribute to earned media component of integrated communications strategies for our clients and potential clients • Demonstrate a keen awareness of changes in the healthcare landscape and best media practices within a complex communications environment • Support the development statements for clients in response to breaking news related to their business or organizational objectives • Provide day-to-day project management and communications support to health care clients beyond media relations, as needed • Contribute to new business proposals • Assist with organizing activities that support the overall CURA culture Qualifications: • The ideal candidate will be eager to learn and have at least 4 years of public relations/communications experience, preferably in a PR agency. • Must have strong interest and experience in health care media relations and working knowledge of traditional and non-traditional media. • Ideally have worked and have strong interest in the health care space and have basic knowledge of health care stakeholders and hot health care topics. Specific exposure to issues related to rare disease, mental health/substance use disorders, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, diagnostic policy issues (e.g., market access, drug pricing, etc.) is a plus. • Great attitude and a steadfast work ethic; must be detail-oriented with a proactive, innovative and positive attitude toward client service. • Strong writing and organizational skills and ability to multi-task is fundamental. • Self-motivated and diligent with a high degree of proactivity and accountability for team-based work.
