Provide developmental mentoring to a new project manager to help her grow as a leader and support her team in storytelling initiatives. | Experience in project management or leadership with the ability to mentor and coach a new leader in team strategy, communication, and accountability. | This is a volunteer opportunity provided by Taproot Foundation, a nonprofit creating social change through pro bono connections. We’re looking for a seasoned project manager, creative team leader, or executive mentor to provide one-on-one support to our new Project Manager leading Creshendo’s global Storytelling Team. This team is tasked with one of our most sensitive and powerful initiatives — uplifting the stories of migrants and displaced people through online media. The Project Manager is dedicated, capable, and passionate, but this is her first time in a leadership role of this scale. We’re seeking a mentor who can: • Offer weekly or bi-weekly coaching sessions • Guide her through building a human-centered strategy • Help her align team structure, roles, and workflow • Support her in problem-solving communication or accountability challenges • Provide confidence and clarity as she steps into leadership This is not an executional role. It’s a developmental one — focused on helping her grow into a leader who can carry this work forward with integrity and impact. Creshendo is a nonprofit working to shift narrative, opportunity, and power back to migrant communities. The Storytelling Project was born from what community members asked for — to be seen and heard on their own terms. This role is key to making that vision real. By mentoring our Project Manager, you’ll help create a structure that supports the voices of people who are too often erased. You won’t just be shaping one person. You’ll be strengthening an entire team’s ability to lead, build trust, and tell stories that matter. The Project Manager already has strong alignment with Creshendo’s mission, regular touchpoints with leadership, and access to tools like Asana, Google Drive, and team systems. She’s also working closely with our executive director and storytelling advisors. You’ll have clear communication expectations and flexibility to mentor in a way that works for your schedule — ideally meeting once a week or every other week for 45–60 minutes. Creshendo Mission: Creshendo’s mission is to empower displaced populations by fostering their integration and self-reliance. Through specialized programs and support services, we equip them with the tools, knowledge, and resources to navigate new environments, advocate for their needs, and achieve their aspirations.
Design and plan a pilot storytelling podcast program, define resources, and develop evaluation mechanisms to measure impact. | Experience in program design, ability to create step-by-step plans, define human and financial resources, and develop monitoring and evaluation strategies. | This is a volunteer opportunity provided by Taproot Foundation, a nonprofit creating social change through pro bono connections. We have an idea for a new program our organization would like to start piloting, the “Migrant Voices: Story-Telling” podcast. We would like to tap the assistance of someone with a background in program design to help create a step-by-step plan for building, executing, and evaluating the impact of this pilot. Additionally, you will help define the human and financial resources required to implement the program and develop monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to assess its effectiveness. Join us in piloting the “Migrant Voices: Story-Telling” podcast, an innovative initiative by Creshendo that leverages the transformative power of storytelling to raise global awareness about the challenges faced by displaced individuals. What sets this project apart is its origin within the communities it serves. The idea was born from a group of refugees who expressed their feeling of being voiceless in the world. This community-driven approach ensures authenticity and deep connection, making the project uniquely valuable. Together, we can inspire advocacy and policy changes, promoting a more just and compassionate society. We understand that designing a new program is an iterative process and commit to continuous learning, flexibility, and honest feedback. We prioritize this program design process and will provide full staff support and information about our current programs and beneficiaries. We have a team of people working on the outline to get the project started, 2 graphic designers, a team of animators, and have conducted outreach to refugees to gather authentic stories and contacted a digital animator, though we currently lack the funds for this service. Once the program design is complete, implementation will proceed in phases. Pre-production includes finalizing content and creating a content calendar. During production, we will record and edit episodes, incorporating animations to engage audiences while protecting anonymity. Post-production will involve a comprehensive marketing and social media strategy, distributing episodes on multiple platforms, and hosting community engagement events to gather feedback and drive advocacy. Creshendo Mission: Creshendo’s mission is to empower displaced populations by fostering their integration and self-reliance. Through specialized programs and support services, we equip them with the tools, knowledge, and resources to navigate new environments, advocate for their needs, and achieve their aspirations.
Develop a strategic public relations plan to increase visibility and awareness of Creshendo’s mission, advise on media opportunities, messaging, and build internal PR capacity. | Experience in strategic PR planning, media relations, messaging, and ability to collaborate with a mission-driven nonprofit team. | This is a volunteer opportunity provided by Taproot Foundation, a nonprofit creating social change through pro bono connections. Our goal is to create a clear, strategic public relations plan that helps Creshendo become more visible to the public, partners, and press. We work closely with migrant and displaced communities to develop mobile-based education, economic support, and storytelling programs. But too few people know about what we’re doing, and that limits how many people we can help. We are looking for a PR strategist who can help us: • Create a plan to increase awareness of Creshendo’s mission and impact • Identify media opportunities and outlets aligned with our values • Teach our team how to get mentioned in op-eds or pitch our ideas clearly • Offer advice on positioning, messaging, and how to approach press • Build our team’s confidence and internal systems for long-term PR growth We are not looking for someone to take over our communications. We have a communications team. We are looking for someone who can help us think strategically and build the right foundation, so our team can carry it forward. Migrants and displaced people are being targeted, restricted, and forgotten in many places. Creshendo works to change that by co-creating education and economic programs with the people most affected. We do not speak for people. We work with them to build systems that restore dignity and independence. This project will help us reach more of the people who need us. It will also help us reach funders, media, and partners who can help us grow. By working with us on this, you will be helping to protect and uplift migrants at a time when many doors are closing on them. Visibility is not about image for us. It is about access. It is about getting resources into the hands of people who are under attack. Our team already includes writers, a digital ads specialist, and social media support. We are working on high-impact projects, and we are ready to share our work with the world. We’ve built strong programs that deliver real results, and we are now in the right position to increase our public presence. You will be working with a founder-led team that is organized, driven, and ready to implement what we learn. We just need help with the strategy, planning, and positioning. Creshendo Mission: Creshendo’s mission is to empower displaced populations by fostering their integration and self-reliance. Through specialized programs and support services, we equip them with the tools, knowledge, and resources to navigate new environments, advocate for their needs, and achieve their aspirations.
