Provide developmental mentoring to a new project manager to help her grow as a leader and support her team in storytelling initiatives.
Experience in project management or leadership with the ability to mentor and coach a new leader in team strategy, communication, and accountability.
This is a volunteer opportunity provided by Taproot Foundation, a nonprofit creating social change through pro bono connections. We’re looking for a seasoned project manager, creative team leader, or executive mentor to provide one-on-one support to our new Project Manager leading Creshendo’s global Storytelling Team. This team is tasked with one of our most sensitive and powerful initiatives — uplifting the stories of migrants and displaced people through online media. The Project Manager is dedicated, capable, and passionate, but this is her first time in a leadership role of this scale. We’re seeking a mentor who can: • Offer weekly or bi-weekly coaching sessions • Guide her through building a human-centered strategy • Help her align team structure, roles, and workflow • Support her in problem-solving communication or accountability challenges • Provide confidence and clarity as she steps into leadership This is not an executional role. It’s a developmental one — focused on helping her grow into a leader who can carry this work forward with integrity and impact. Creshendo is a nonprofit working to shift narrative, opportunity, and power back to migrant communities. The Storytelling Project was born from what community members asked for — to be seen and heard on their own terms. This role is key to making that vision real. By mentoring our Project Manager, you’ll help create a structure that supports the voices of people who are too often erased. You won’t just be shaping one person. You’ll be strengthening an entire team’s ability to lead, build trust, and tell stories that matter. The Project Manager already has strong alignment with Creshendo’s mission, regular touchpoints with leadership, and access to tools like Asana, Google Drive, and team systems. She’s also working closely with our executive director and storytelling advisors. You’ll have clear communication expectations and flexibility to mentor in a way that works for your schedule — ideally meeting once a week or every other week for 45–60 minutes. Creshendo Mission: Creshendo’s mission is to empower displaced populations by fostering their integration and self-reliance. Through specialized programs and support services, we equip them with the tools, knowledge, and resources to navigate new environments, advocate for their needs, and achieve their aspirations.
