Develop and manage coding education programs for providers and coding staff, conduct audits and reviews, maintain coding knowledge, and support compliance and denial mitigation. | Associates degree or higher, Certified Professional Coder certification, 5+ years professional coding experience, 2+ years education or presentation experience in coding, knowledge of coding systems and healthcare regulations. | Job Description The Professional Coding Educator is an essential member of the Professional Coding leadership structure. This role is responsible for developing and managing the education pathway for providers of all specialties, as well as the Professional Coding team. The educator will be responsible for the annual Provider Education Program, general and focused Coder education, continuous Provider and Coding team reviews and related activities as needed to meet and exceed the organization’s documentation and coding standards. Responsibilities • Provides annual coding education and ad-hoc education and reference materials to CCMC and CCSG providers and departments related to chart documentation, coding guidelines, CPT charges, ICD diagnoses, and payer policy. • Responsible for HIM Department internal monitoring reviews and Compliance Department audits. Maintains reports documenting findings, action plans and results. • Assists with developing coding procedures, job aids and guidance documents for Providers and Professional Coders. • Coordinates the review and education of CPT and ICD-10-CM code updates, coding guidelines, and any reimbursement/regulatory changes. • Responsible for reference material purchases and distribution. • Develops and maintains provider and Coder education presentations. • Responsible to schedule education sessions. • Assists on-boarding of new providers and Coders, tracking progress and improvement opportunities. • Reviews and responds to inquiries from other departments regarding documentation and/or coding, including but not limited to patient complaints, Billing, Revenue Integrity. • Assists review and mitigation of denial trends by service and/or provider. • Promotes individual professional development by identifying education opportunities, tracking staff certifications, and taking an active role as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff as needed. • Performs coding functions and a comprehensive understanding of the coding workflows to retain coding expertise. • Maintains current knowledge of coding, federal and local regulations. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience Required Minimum education (degree/type of degree). • Associates Degree or higher. Minimum Experience (minimum Years & Type Of Experience). • 5+ years Professional Coding Experience. • 2+ years with one or more of the following: delivering presentations, conducting one on one education with providers, teaching a coding class, speaking at coding seminars, or related activity. License and/or Certification Required: • Associates Degree or higher. • Certified Professional Coder Preferred: • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a healthcare related field. • In addition to CPC, one or more related Coding Certificate preferred. Develop, test, deploy, and maintain HL7 interfaces using Epic Bridges and other tools ensuring data integrity and compliance. | 3-5 years systems analysis and programming experience, HL7 messaging knowledge, ability to collaborate on healthcare interfaces, and strong communication skills. | Job Description Responsible for supporting the design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of the all real-time and non-real-time Health Level Seven (HL7) interfaces using the Epic Bridges and commercial interface engine toolsets. Responsibilities • Responsible for the development, mapping, and maintenance of all real-time and batch interfaces between all application software. • Responsible for defining and implementing interface specifications either alone or in conjunction with application analyst. • Responsible for developing HL7 code which will efficiently access and transmit data across applications. • Responsible for supporting and enhancing new and existing interfaces written in current and future standards including HL7, XML, fixed and variable length formats and ODBC. • Responsible for defining the diagnostic interface strategies. • Responsible for documenting the system procedures. • Responsible for the development of flexible departmental training plans as necessary. • Responsible for the development of trouble shooting reports which will allow for effective management of the interface engine platform. • Responsible for ensuring data integrity across applications. • Responsible for ensuring that maintenance releases are properly tested and quality assured prior to production. • Responsible for ensuring that new installations will integrate with the current application and data technical environment. • Responsible for maintaining system security and system standards. • Responsible for ensuring that departmental IT systems are in compliance with regulatory requirements. Qualifications Education and/or Experience Required: • Education Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or related field or equivalent experience. • Experience Required: Three to five years' experience in systems analysis and in programming in either a scripting, procedural or object-oriented language. Education and/or Experience Preferred: • Experience Preferred: Experience HL7 messaging standards and experience configuring and troubleshooting HL7 interfaces Epic Bridges Certified preferred. Manage security controls, user account provisioning, incident response, security monitoring, and participate in disaster preparedness and business continuity. | 3-5 years of information security experience, knowledge of regulatory standards, experience with Microsoft OS and security tools, project management skills, and preferably CISA or Security+ certification. | Job Description Reporting to the Director of Information Security, the Security Analyst manages security mechanisms to protect computer assets against hackers, external and internal breaches, viruses, spyware and malware by establishing, enforcing and monitoring appropriate security controls, responds to security incident, investigates violations, provisioning of users accounts and recommends enhancements to mitigate risk. The Security Analyst is also an active participant in disaster preparedness and business continuity. User provisioning will be a key aspect of the role, as well. Experience with Active Directory is crucial to the role. Responsibilities • Establishes system controls by developing framework for controls and levels of access; recommending improvements. • Creates and maintains user accounts and user account access levels using systems tools and by providing information, resources, and technical support to the end user environment. • Ensures authorized access through investigating of proper access levels assigned and required by manager levels and above; revoking access; reporting violations; monitoring information requests and recommending improvements. • Establishes computer and physical security by developing standards, policies, and procedures; coordinating with facilities security; recommending improvements. • Monitors and advises on Information Security issues related to the systems and workflow at Connecticut Children’s to ensure internal controls for Connecticut Children’s are appropriate and operating as intended. • Safeguards computer files by participation in and disaster preparedness and business continuity exercises; recommending improvements. • Conducts data classification assessment by collaborating with data owners to ensure appropriate security access levels for end users. • Promotes security awareness by assisting in security awareness programs, educational programs, and on-going communication. • Coordinates response to information security incidents. • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations. • Accomplishes information systems and organization mission by completing related results as needed. • Determines security violation and inefficiencies by actively auditing and monitoring of computer systems and accounts. • Actively participates in auditing of all Information Systems in the Information Systems environment and audit of Application Access in the end user environment; this includes all workforce members including volunteers, contracted workers, subcontractors, temporary workers, vendors and any personnel that would require accesses to Connecticut Children’s computer systems. • Perform other related duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities: None Qualifications Education and/or Experience: • BA degree in Computer Science or other related degree is preferred with 3-5 years of Information security; years of experience can be substituted for degree level. • Experience with Epic and background in Healthcare is highly desired. License and/or Certification Preferred: • Certified Information Security Auditor (CISA) or Security+ certification is a plus. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge: • Workstation, Application and Database security, experience. • Knowledge of principles for risk identification and analysis. • Knowledge of regulatory standards such as HIPAA Privacy and Security Rule, HITECH, SOX, and PCI/DSS. • Experience and knowledge of Information Security Policies . • Must have knowledge of and experience with the following: Microsoft Operating systems Windows Server, Windows XP and Windows 7 Desktop operation systems, some database knowledge is preferred, knowledge and use of Microsoft Office Suite, Security Incident and Event Management processes and Change Control. • Management process.
