3-5 years systems analysis and programming experience, HL7 messaging knowledge, ability to collaborate on healthcare interfaces, and strong communication skills.
Job Description Responsible for supporting the design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of the all real-time and non-real-time Health Level Seven (HL7) interfaces using the Epic Bridges and commercial interface engine toolsets. Responsibilities • Responsible for the development, mapping, and maintenance of all real-time and batch interfaces between all application software. • Responsible for defining and implementing interface specifications either alone or in conjunction with application analyst. • Responsible for developing HL7 code which will efficiently access and transmit data across applications. • Responsible for supporting and enhancing new and existing interfaces written in current and future standards including HL7, XML, fixed and variable length formats and ODBC. • Responsible for defining the diagnostic interface strategies. • Responsible for documenting the system procedures. • Responsible for the development of flexible departmental training plans as necessary. • Responsible for the development of trouble shooting reports which will allow for effective management of the interface engine platform. • Responsible for ensuring data integrity across applications. • Responsible for ensuring that maintenance releases are properly tested and quality assured prior to production. • Responsible for ensuring that new installations will integrate with the current application and data technical environment. • Responsible for maintaining system security and system standards. • Responsible for ensuring that departmental IT systems are in compliance with regulatory requirements. Qualifications Education and/or Experience Required: • Education Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or related field or equivalent experience. • Experience Required: Three to five years' experience in systems analysis and in programming in either a scripting, procedural or object-oriented language. Education and/or Experience Preferred: • Experience Preferred: Experience HL7 messaging standards and experience configuring and troubleshooting HL7 interfaces Epic Bridges Certified preferred. License and/or Certification Required: N/A Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Demonstrated ability to use commercial interface development tools. • Demonstrated ability collaborate with various other resources for ADT, Order, Schedule, Result, RFID, Billing, Medication interfaces/web services. • Demonstrated ability to write complex joins statements to efficiently access data. • Demonstrated ability to use appropriate development tools to author and implement stored procedures for use by report authors and application programmers. • Demonstrated competency and high level understanding of TCP/IP based networks. • Ability to work with personnel of varying technical backgrounds and proficiencies. • Strong written and verbal communication skills and documentation abilities. • Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment as well as independently. • Strong, analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills • Flexible in responding to rapid change and able to multi-task About Us Connecticut Children’s is the only health system in Connecticut that is 100% dedicated to children.
