About the role: Bixal is seeking a Director, Product Management – AI Solutions to support a high-impact digital initiative focused on end-to-end product lifecycle for AI-enabled solutions supporting the VA. This role is critical to ensuring the successful discovery, development, piloting, and deployment of trustworthy AI products that improve Veteran health outcomes and healthcare system efficiency. This role will work cross-functionally with technical teams, stakeholders, and end users to define product vision, strategy, and execution plans aligned with VA’s mission. This isn’t just about building features, it’s about shaping how AI can responsibly support one of the nation’s largest healthcare systems. This is a full-time position contingent on contract award by our client, with a defined performance period of one year with two one-year option periods. Compensation: The salary range for this role is $170,000 – $180,000. In the spirit of transparency, most offers tend to land near the midpoint of the range. Responsibilities: • Define and articulate a clear product vision, product requirements, priorities, and roadmaps for AI-enabled healthcare solutions that align with the VA’s Trustworthy AI Framework and strategic objectives. • Lead the end-to-end product lifecycle: use case discovery, MVP solutioning, piloting, and value assessment. • Evaluate qualitative and quantitative research to identify high-impact AI use cases. • Collaborate with stakeholders to mature problem statements and assess feasibility and value. • Help guide solution architecture planning and analysis of alternatives. • Oversee MVP development using low-code/no-code platforms. • Ensure UI/UX optimization and technical performance in test environments. • Oversee pilots in the field—support deployments, gather feedback, iterate, and measure real-world impact to inform scaling decisions. • Help design pilot structures and support real-world product deployment. • Facilitate end-user training, feedback collection, and iterative product updates. • Work closely with cross-functional Agile teams in two-week sprints. • Partner with UX designers, engineers, and analysts to deliver accessible, high-impact features. • Apply iterative design, data, research, and feedback loops to continuously improve the user experience. • Other relevant duties as assigned, qualified, and trained to perform Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, plus at least eight (8) years of relevant experience. • Proven experience in product management, leading digital products in a government, healthcare, or highly regulated environment. • Demonstrated expertise in Agile methodologies, product roadmaps, and stakeholder management. • Proven experience in leading cross-functional teams and managing full product lifecycle from concept to launch. • Demonstrated progressive background in developing product requirements documents, roadmaps, and technical artifacts. • Proven ability to translate insights into actionable product requirements. • Successful experience launching AI products, including generative AI and large language models. • Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex ideas to technical and non-technical audiences. • Ability to anticipate challenges, identify opportunities, and drive innovative solutions. • Proven ability to lead teams without direct authority, aligning diverse stakeholders toward a common goal. • Deep commitment to human-centered design and ensuring solutions meet the real-world needs of Veterans. • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance. Nice to Have Skills and Experience: • Experience with VA, federal health systems, or government digital transformation. • Familiarity with health IT data privacy and security practices. • Experience developing Veteran-facing or employee-facing products for the VA. • Understanding of VA’s Trustworthy AI Framework and Agile development methodologies.
