Manage and develop product strategy, roadmap, and execution for substation design products, collaborating with engineering and business teams. | Requires 6+ years of experience in substation design, electrical schematic and grounding systems, with strong communication skills and technical education in electrical engineering. | Senior Product Expert Location: Portland, OR; Philadelphia PA Position Summary: Bentley is creating a new purpose built intelligent substation design application to empower designers and engineers with a truly intuitive, connected, and collaborative experience. Our work will help utilities worldwide more efficiently and effectively build and maintain their substations. We’re looking for a Senior Product Expert to join our team, contribute to and drive product development, and support product launch. This role will have a significant focus on electrical schematic & wiring features and grounding systems, but will support the full scope of design needs. Responsibilities: • Manage and collaborate on product strategy, roadmap, and execution for substation products and partnerships • Be at the intersection of technology, people, and business - coordinating product strategy, integrations, dependencies, development, and business relationships • Work with engineering/development to design, develop, and launch • Organize and derive market trends from internal and external research, customer feedback, and broad market input to improve and build new features and products • Facilitate alignment for a diverging set of inputs and people to converge on strong, bought-in decisions • Be involved in all stages of product lifecycle • Engage the industry as a Bentley representative and technical expert • Build and manage the product backlog with the cross-functional team • Define, monitor, and analyze metrics for product functionalities and feed learnings back into product development process • Support the Product Marketing team to deliver product positioning and content Qualifications: • 6+ years of experience with substation design technical process and details in a consulting or utility environment, or equivalent • Strong experience with substation electrical schematic / wiring / protection & control design & construction • Strong experience with substation grounding system design and analysis. XGSLab experience is preferred. • Experience with substation physical design & construction • Experience with utility EMF studies a plus • You obsess over priorities, creating impact, and constantly test them against strategy and goals. • Fantastic communication skills and interpersonal savvy. You can communicate with executive leadership as well as you can with engineers. • You are likely to have a technical education, such as an undergrad or masters degree in electrical engineering, or you have equivalent proven work experience. • A professional engineering (PE) license is a plus • This role will require occasional travel and time zone management as part of a global team. • Requires sitting or standing at will while performing work on a computer (or any other physical requirements). • Product Management and/or Software Development experience. • Excellent written and oral communication as well as strong presentation skills. Responsibilities • Support existing federal customers and users to ensure their use of Cesium is successful and expand it where it makes sense • Be the main point of contact for several large new opportunities that we have in the pipeline, supporting the client and working closely with the project manager to ensure the projects are successful • Identify, shape, and win new business opportunities, leading out the process from having early conversations, to writing proposals, to talking through technical requirements, to closing the deal • Build relationships. The federal space is about the long play. We want you to know everyone, know what they're working on, bring back to our engineering team how Cesium can best meet current federal needs and strategies, and pitch Cesium and 3D geospatial and what we can bring to federal programs • Develop a strategy to acquire more federal sales. We'll look to you to develop a well-rounded strategy to grow our federal presence and make Cesium the leading 3D geospatial solution • Work with our marketing team to showcase how federal agencies are and can be using Cesium. Help build demos to show the art of the possible • Attend and speak at conferences like GEOINT, I/ITSEC, SOFIC, and others to advocate for Cesium, and identify what conferences and communities we should focus on Skills • 10+ years of business development and sales experience in the federal government with a demonstrated record of revenue generation success • Bonus points for experience in geospatial, simulation and/or defense and intelligence • A tech-savvy businessperson with a deep understanding of the geospatial ecosystem and how different tools and standards can work together • A preference for someone with experience working as a software developer or other technical job (though not required) • Ability to quickly learn new technical capabilities and apply them to customer use cases in the federal market • Great communication skills • You'll need to be persuasive, good at explaining a technical product to both a technical and non-technical audience, and able to identify how Cesium can fill both identified and unidentified user needs - both in person and in writing Company Overview • Bentley Systems is an infrastructure engineering software company that provides innovative software sustaining.
