In this role, you will contribute to feature development, support critical production environments, improve observability, and promote operational excellence. Responsibilities: • Contribute to the design, development, and delivery of features that enhance system reliability and scalability. • Define, measure, and improve SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets in collaboration with engineering teams. • Participate in building a culture of reliability through knowledge sharing, documentation, and process improvements. • Implement and improve observability tooling and practices to monitor the health and performance of production systems. • Participate in incident management, including on-call rotations, root cause analysis, and postmortem reviews. • Lead smaller initiatives or components of larger projects, ensuring technical quality and operational readiness. • Collaborate with software engineering, security, and product teams to ensure resilient and secure system design. • Mentor junior engineers, sharing expertise in SRE principles and AWS best practices. • Contribute to automation efforts to reduce toil and improve efficiency of operational processes. Qualifications: • 5+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or Software Engineering with a focus on production operations. • Strong knowledge of AWS cloud services and cloud-native architectures. • Proficiency in scripting or programming languages (e.g., Python, Bash). • Experience with observability tools (e.g., CloudWatch, Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana). • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation) and CI/CD pipelines. • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work cross-functionally. • Some experience mentoring or coaching junior engineers. Preferred Qualifications: • AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Associate). • Experience leading on-call rotations, capacity planning, and chaos engineering initiatives. • Experience with containerization (Docker, ECS, Kubernetes/EKS). • Familiarity with incident response best practices and operational readiness processes. • Knowledge of PHP or Java is a plus. Oversee discovery, design, development, and implementation of digital assessment platform solutions while collaborating with UX designers, engineers, and stakeholders to enhance educational outcomes. | 2-5 years digital product management in ed tech, 5+ years managing K-12 digital assessment platforms, understanding of teacher/student needs, Agile experience, and Bachelor's degree. | Position Purpose: As Senior Product Manager in the Platform Product Management Department, you will help oversee the development of digital solutions for an assessment platform, from inception to launch, for the delivery of a variety of assessment types including but not limited to screener, diagnostic, formative, and more. You will collaborate with UX designers, engineers and other stakeholders to create innovative, customer-focused assessment solutions meant to enhance teacher instruction and enrich the student learning experience. Duties and Responsibilities: • Oversee the discovery, design, development, and implementation for new and existing digital assessment platform solutions • Conceptualize user experience from a student, educator, and administrator’s perspective by working on wireframes, prototypes, and designs with UX/UI designers • Utilize user research, competitive analysis, and stakeholder input to form a creative vision that provides solutions and clear customer benefit • Act as the main contact for stakeholder management with assessments curriculum/content directors, managers, and supervisors • Act as a mediator between the user and developers, communicating and translating user needs into new product features for the team to design and develop • Identify problems, suggest solutions, and clearly communicate the details required to build the assessment platform as conceptualized, including writing high-level requirements • Prioritize user stories for development and maintain a groomed backlog of work and bugs • Track and document digital assessment platform through all stages of development • Oversee user acceptance testing on all development work • Train and communicate other departments including Tech Support, Professional Development, etc. on use of assessment solutions • Troubleshoot problems identified by other departments and customers and communicate escalations • Present work to senior management and key stakeholders and executives for review and feedback • Maintain a roadmap of future requests Job Requirements/Skills and Experience • A minimum of 2-5 years of digital product management experience in the educational technology industry • A minimum of 5 years managing K-12 digital assessment platform solutions • An understanding of the needs of teachers, administrators, and Pre-K-8 students • Knowledge of current ed tech trends and capabilities • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously • Ability to independently drive projects to completion • Working knowledge of user experience, user interaction, and responsive design across mobile platforms, devices, and products • Bachelor's Degree • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and JIRA Preferred Qualifications: • Ability to develop concepts into elegant, customer-centric solutions • Contributor of solutions to interactive and user experience challenges • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills • Ability to collaborate with developers and stakeholders • Experience with Agile development practices • Experience with Artificial Intelligence ABOUT BENCHMARK EDUCATION COMPANY Benchmark Education Company (BEC) is a leading publisher of core, supplemental, and intervention literacy and language resources in English and Spanish, with valid and reliable digital assessments that inform instruction.
