Lead strategic PR and thought leadership initiatives to enhance company reputation, manage media relations, and support executive visibility. | 12+ years in PR with demonstrated success in media relations, content creation, social media, and strong communication skills. | The Associate Director, PR and Thought Leadership is responsible for developing and executing strategic initiatives that elevate the company's reputation through impactful media relations and thought leadership efforts. This role focuses on building and maintaining strong relationships with key media outlets, securing meaningful coverage, and positioning company leaders as industry experts. The position will lead the creation of compelling narratives in PR, thought leadership content, and support executive visibility. Education and Experience: • Bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, marketing, or a related field. • Master's degree or relevant certifications are a plus. • 12+ years' experience in public relations, between Brand and agency. • Demonstrated success in developing and executing PR strategies and managing media relations. • Experience in creating and curating content for various social media platforms. • Strong understanding of social media trends, tools, and best practices. • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Key Responsibilities: Media Relations • Develop and execute strategic public relations plans to enhance Baylor Genetics' reputation and visibility through earned media. • Serve as the primary liaison with our PR agency partner, media outlets, journalists, and industry influencers. • Manage all aspects of media relations, including drafting press releases, responding to media inquiries, securing interviews, and coordinating spokesperson preparation. • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including product marketing and commercial teams, to develop clear and consistent messaging. • Monitor media coverage and provide analysis on reach, sentiment, and effectiveness of PR efforts. • Lead thought leadership initiatives that position Baylor Genetics and its executives as trusted voices in the genetics and diagnostics space. • Identify and pursue opportunities for executive visibility, including contributed articles, speaking engagements, and panel participation. • Partner with internal teams to create compelling narratives that align with corporate priorities and resonate with target audiences. • Drive and manage corporate award submissions to support industry recognition and credibility. Skills and Competencies: • Strategic Thinking: Ability to craft and implement impactful media relations and thought leadership strategies that support business objectives and elevate brand reputation. • Communication Excellence: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on crafting compelling narratives, press materials, and thought leadership content. • Media & Influencer Relations: Proven ability to build and nurture strong relationships with journalists, editors, and industry influencers to secure high-value coverage and speaking opportunities. • Executive Presence: Experience working with senior leaders to develop and amplify their voice across earned channels, including interviews, op-eds, and public appearances. • Analytical Mindset: Strong ability to monitor, measure, and interpret media coverage and thought leadership performance, providing insights that guide future strategy. Physical Demands and Work Environment: • Frequently required to sit, talk, and hear. • Regular use of computer, keyboard, and standard office equipment. • May be required to manage priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Formulate strategies for current and future products, create Market Requirements Documents (MRDs) and Product Requirements Documents (PRDs), and oversee the product lifecycle from development to post-launch support. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Medical Affairs, Sales, Marketing, R&D, Clinical Operations, and Quality Management) to ensure operational and commercial readiness. Commercialize new technologies such as RNA Sequencing, Optical Genome Mapping (OGM) technologies, leading efforts to develop, launch, and scale innovative solutions that address emerging market needs. Conduct market research and feasibility analyses to identify and capture opportunities for new products, working closely with finance and laboratory teams on costing and value assessments. Gather customer insights through VOC processes, network with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), and monitor market trends to inform product design and anticipate future market needs. Publish and maintain the product roadmap, educating stakeholders on its process and execution. Support product marketing teams in creating strategies, messaging, and materials while driving execution roadmaps to scale up genetic testing and laboratory solutions. Monitor competitors and key players in the industry. Lead and manage multiple concurrent projects with varying complexity, overcoming obstacles to ensure success. Minimum Education Requirement Master’s degree in Biotechnology. Minimum Experience Requirement 5 years of experience in product management and/or product development in molecular diagnostics, experiencing in launching clinical-grade diagnostic genetic testing products including experience evaluating and launching new technology products, such as transcriptomics and other up and coming genome sequencing and mapping technologies, direct involvement in the launch of research testing for the Undiagnosed Disease Network (UDN) backed by NIH, experience demonstrating proficiency in creating and executing comprehensive product roadmaps, ensuring alignment with business objectives and market needs, experience utilizing Smartsheet, Tableau, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, JIRA to create, manage, and launch products, experience communicating and presenting complex information to C-suite level executives, with presentations.
