What You Will Contribute: Reporting to the Manager – Turnkey Operations, this position is responsible for successfully managing multi-million-dollar AMI & AMR projects where Badger Meter has accepted turnkey responsibility for the implementation of a complete water metering solution. The Project Manager – Turnkey Operations will be the face of Badger Meter for this opportunity and be solely responsible for the successful delivery of customer-sponsored projects ranging from full turnkey projects to internal projects through the successful delivery of excellently customized service solutions while ensuring quality and safety objectives of the project are achieved. The ability to manager and build strong relationships with internal teams, customers and subcontractors as well as a strong understanding of deadline significance (sense of urgency) is crucial to success in this position. Job Duties: • Understands project contractual obligations and ensures compliance. • Develops and directs overall project schedule; Monitor overall project progress and generate regular status reports – both internally and externally to all project stakeholders. • Maintains project schedule, meets schedule deadlines and milestones. • Generates and manages scope of work/project plans to be in accordance with contractual requirements/obligations; Manages subcontractor(s) and subcontract(s) throughout the project. • Supports the forecasting of accurate project revenues on a monthly, quarterly and yearly basis for all assigned projects; Meets, and when possible, improves on project cost targets. • Supports the reporting of projects’ financial performance to stakeholders throughout the project as well as a full financial analysis at project closure. • Documents all work in a timely and accurate manner – this includes but is not limited to email, meeting agendas and minutes, trip reports, monthly hourly reporting, expense reports and any other reports as assigned and/or as they relate to a project. • Obtain customer acceptance for all deliverables as well as substantial completion and final acceptance. • Protects project retainage collected on all projects to ensure no liquidated damages are incurred by Badger Meter on any situation that could be controlled and managed properly by the Project Manager – Turnkey Operations. • Gathers, documents and Reports on direct customer feedback to the appropriate internal channels as necessary. • Works with Sales (West/East), Marketing, Proposals and Operations (Procurement) in the development of bids/quotes for turnkey opportunities. • Reads, comprehends and responds to customer Request for Proposals (RPFs) by providing thorough, accurate and detailed responses as required to aid in the successful onboarding of new business opportunities. • Manages pilots/trial implementations as required and assigned by the Manager – Turnkey Operations. • Participate in customer presentations and meetings as required and assigned by the Manager – Turnkey Operations. • Support trade show and customer conferences as required and assigned by the Manager – Turnkey Operations. • Conduct monthly, quarterly and year-end Inventory Counts and Reconciliations for all Turnkey Projects as assigned by Manager – Turnkey Operations. • Supports ongoing product development by recommending changes to product hardware and software. Assist in engineering tests or evaluations of new system components when part of a Turnkey Operations implementation. • Coordinates collaboration and assistance with/from Sales (West/East), Marketing, Proposals, Engineering, Quality and Operations Procurement in resolving product performance issues. • Provides support to the Marketing relative to beta sites and product support concerns for pre-released products when part of a Turnkey Operations implementation. • Communicates all suggested and/or required literature, procedure, and policy updates to the Manager – Turnkey Operations to assure the highest level of project management success. • Interfaces regularly with Sales (West/East), Marketing, Operations, Quality, Accounting, and Customer Care to develop optimum and approved resolutions to open issues. What You Will Contribute: You will support customers and internal stakeholders by providing any or a combination of the following services: researching and responding to customer inquiries either in person, by telephone, e-mail, fax, or other correspondence. Job Duties: Provide pricing on products over the phone, negotiate pricing with customers within account manager’s threshold. Discuss and educate customers on BEACON SAAS & Invoicing practices (Cellular, fixed, mobile solutions, etc.) with prospective and new customers. Achieve and maintain a deep technical understanding of the product line understand functionality and selling points of ALL products offered, the product line, its capabilities, its applicability into different customer applications, and distribution operations. Work with branch manager to help maintain accurate minimum balance levels for inventory in distribution warehouses and communicate with branch managers when customer’s specifications change or projects end so we do not have excess inventory in warehouses for these changes. Work with other distribution branches to sell returned product within their territory when specifications allow and provide customer service with account specification within the territory to help expedite quotes/orders for customers accurately. Navigate on hand inventory report to sell inventory that can often get “lost” in the system if not managed and monitored properly. Understand warehouse process and help pack and ship orders for end of month/quarter if needed. Be the main point of contact for customers, account managers, & field support specialists for issues within the accounts and provide quick solutions. Make decisions quickly to resolve issues with a cradle to grave approach in taking ownership of all inquiries. Review bids, quotes, and orders to ensure accurate processing to minimize errors and assist in updating bids to ensure correct account maintenance is listed in Salesforce. Achieve and maintain a deep technical understanding of the product line, its capabilities, and its applicability into different customer applications. What You Will Contribute: The Sales Engineer will support customers and internal stakeholders on Smart Cover Instrumentation products by providing application specific product recommendations, technical support, assistance on sales quotations, and enhancing the knowledge base for Smart Cover products within the company. Like all members of the Sales department, the Sales Engineer is team oriented, self-directed, and highly responsive to customer needs, with the purpose of making it as easy as possible for our customers to choose, buy and use our products. This position requires up to 50% travel to support the needs of our customers and the business. While this position is listed as remote in Texas, the successful candidate must be in a major metropolitan area with a major airport. In addition to these tasks, the Sales Engineer will also be responsible for the following main accountabilities: The assignments will be to perform site surveys at customer locations to assess customers’ needs and requirements for planning, integrating, and implementing an updated SCADA automation/control system into the existing control equipment. Estimate all requirements of a proposed customer control system. Provide any additional documentation required to ensure a complete and successful control system implementation, following company documentation, procedures, and quotation templates. Provide customers’ process details to the level of algorithm creation. Maintain all survey records to ensure consistency and follow-up ability in the quotation process. Support the company installation department, contractor, and electrical contractors during the project implementation. The position requires a background or general knowledge in I&C (Instrumentation & Controls), including machine electrical control, HMI, SCADA, and general electrical construction requirements. The Successful will have in depth experience with: AutoCAD (the ability to read and interpret drawings) PLC’s control systems and ladder logic programming (generic) Electrical control panel drawings, including MCC, across-the-line, VFD, etc. Water and Wastewater industry instrumentation understanding Ability to understand electrical integration practices and techniques Electrical controls troubleshooting Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other technical field or equivalent 3+ years of technical and/or sales experience Intermediate Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook Project management experience a plus A solid ability to communicate in written and verbal forms regarding scope and specifications to multiple audiences, including contractors, engineers, programmers, customers’ management, operators, and elected government officials.
