The Program Assistant Director will work closely with the Founding Director to shape and implement the Lab’s research strategy, lead externally funded projects, mentor interdisciplinary teams, and expand collaborations across ASU and global partners. The ideal candidate combines deep expertise in educational research and learning sciences with a creative, practice-based approach to games and interactive media. Position Salary Range: $78,000 - $110,000; depending on experience within posted range Essential Duties: Strategic Research Leadership: Direct and contribute to multi-institutional research initiatives on game-based learning, AI-enhanced assessment, and micro credential systems. Program Development: Co-design and oversee Make-to-Learn and Play-to-Learn programs, integrating learning theory, game design, and empirical research. Grant & Publication Leadership: Author and co-author high-impact proposals, journal articles, and conference papers that position ASU as a global leader in games-based learning. Responsibilities Manage and optimize content publishing across ASU Online and other EdPlus web ecosystems, ensuring consistency in voice, tone, messaging and strategic alignment. Serve as the primary connection between content strategy and CMS systems, documenting content types, workflows, permissions, dependencies and governance structures. Conduct a comprehensive assessment of existing content structures across both CMS platforms and internal knowledge bases, identifying gaps, inconsistencies and areas for improvement. Maintain and optimize content within internal knowledge base platforms (e.g., Guru), ensuring clarity, accuracy and consistency across a growing portfolio of nearly 400 academic programs and related resources. Collaborate with stakeholders across portfolio, UX, marketing, product and operations teams to gather source information, standardize content formats and ensure knowledge base accuracy and alignment with public-facing content. Establish scalable, sustainable systems for content governance, including documentation standards, tagging systems, content lifecycle planning and routine audits across web and knowledge base platforms. Build and maintain regular QA and content health check processes for both internal and external content, monitoring for outdated information, broken links, misaligned messaging and accessibility compliance. Collaborate across content, web, portfolio, UX and product teams to ensure updates and new information are accurately integrated into site architecture, content systems and publishing workflows. Partner with developers to understand backend systems and advocate for content system improvements, automation opportunities and long-term scalability. Maintain and prioritize a backlog of CMS, knowledge base and workflow improvements based on user feedback, system limitations and evolving team needs. Support AI-readiness by ensuring internal and external content systems are structured in ways that improve discoverability, clarity and reusability by machine learning models and search technologies. Coordinate or assume other duties or projects as assigned or directed.
