We are seeking a Content Systems Strategist to join our Strategic Communications & Content Strategy team. Every day you’ll make a difference in the lives of others by driving the structure, governance and ongoing optimization of our content systems, both external (CMS in Drupal) and internal (knowledge bases such as Guru). You’ll help ensure that our content ecosystem is not only human-readable and consistent with our brand, but also machine-readable for search experiences and AI tools, supporting a strong foundation for intelligent content delivery. Responsibilities Manage and optimize content publishing across ASU Online and other EdPlus web ecosystems, ensuring consistency in voice, tone, messaging and strategic alignment. Serve as the primary connection between content strategy and CMS systems, documenting content types, workflows, permissions, dependencies and governance structures. Conduct a comprehensive assessment of existing content structures across both CMS platforms and internal knowledge bases, identifying gaps, inconsistencies and areas for improvement. Maintain and optimize content within internal knowledge base platforms (e.g., Guru), ensuring clarity, accuracy and consistency across a growing portfolio of nearly 400 academic programs and related resources. Collaborate with stakeholders across portfolio, UX, marketing, product and operations teams to gather source information, standardize content formats and ensure knowledge base accuracy and alignment with public-facing content. Establish scalable, sustainable systems for content governance, including documentation standards, tagging systems, content lifecycle planning and routine audits across web and knowledge base platforms. Build and maintain regular QA and content health check processes for both internal and external content, monitoring for outdated information, broken links, misaligned messaging and accessibility compliance. Collaborate across content, web, portfolio, UX and product teams to ensure updates and new information are accurately integrated into site architecture, content systems and publishing workflows. Partner with developers to understand backend systems and advocate for content system improvements, automation opportunities and long-term scalability. Maintain and prioritize a backlog of CMS, knowledge base and workflow improvements based on user feedback, system limitations and evolving team needs. Support AI-readiness by ensuring internal and external content systems are structured in ways that improve discoverability, clarity and reusability by machine learning models and search technologies. Coordinate or assume other duties or projects as assigned or directed. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. Desired Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field. Experience managing content in a web CMS (Drupal preferred), including content types, workflows and publishing constraints. Experience maintaining content within an internal knowledge base (e.g., Guru, Confluence), applying content governance practices to ensure clarity, consistency and usability at scale. Evidence of strong organizational skills and extreme attention to detail, especially in documenting complex systems and processes. Experience designing repeatable content QA or audit tools that help maintain brand and strategy alignment. Evidence of familiarity with SEO fundamentals, metadata and structured content principles. Demonstrated knowledge of accessibility standards and commitment to inclusive content practices. Demonstrated ability to collaborate across functions, including developers, content creators, portfolio managers, marketers and strategists. Demonstrated knowledge or experience with AI content enablement, including preparing systems for machine-readability and structured data usage. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships and navigate technical conversations with curiosity and confidence. Evidence of passion for working in a collaborative, cross-functional environment that values shared problem-solving and continuous learning.
