Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain detailed project plans for equipment engineering initiatives, ensuring timely execution from planning through implementation. Coordinate and track equipment installation, qualification, and maintenance projects, leveraging reports, dashboards, and checklists for progress monitoring. Align internal resources and cross-functional teams to achieve on-time, within-budget performance objectives for equipment-related projects. Monitor and report project cost performance, identifying variances and implementing corrective actions. Collaborate with process, manufacturing, and facilities teams on equipment design, upgrades, and optimization projects. Investigate and resolve equipment-related obstacles, applying root cause analysis and implementing sustainable solutions. Maintain strong technical knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing equipment, including vacuum systems, robotics, and process chambers. Provide hands-on support for technical troubleshooting of equipment failures, including hardware, electrical, and control systems. Functional Knowledge • Demonstrates practical expertise in equipment engineering and project management. • Basic understanding of related disciplines such as process integration, facilities, and automation. Business Expertise • Knowledge of industry best practices for equipment reliability, uptime, and cost optimization. • Awareness of competitive technologies and differentiation factors in semiconductor equipment. Leadership • Acts as a resource for less experienced engineers and technicians. • May lead small-scale equipment projects with manageable risks and resource requirements. Problem Solving • Solves complex equipment-related issues using structured methodologies. • Applies innovative approaches to improve equipment performance and reduce downtime. Impact • Directly impacts equipment availability, process stability, and operational efficiency. • Works within broad guidelines and policies to achieve project goals. Interpersonal Skills • Communicates technical and project information clearly. • Builds consensus across engineering, operations, and vendor teams. Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering (or related field) Experience: 4–7 years in semiconductor equipment engineering or project management Additional Information Time Type: Full time Employee Type: Assignee / Regular Travel: Yes, 10% of the Time Relocation Eligible: No The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable. For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement. Applied Materials' Integrated Materials Solution Group is searching for an intern to join our team in summer 2026 for a minimum of 6 months. Our group explores and builds novel devices in the ICAPS (Internet of Things, Communications, Automotive, Power and Sensors) and Advanced wafer level heterogeneous integration technology sectors. Our opportunity will give you hands-on experience in semiconductor and advanced packaging process environments, and help you establish an understanding of the relationships between device design, material physics, process development, technology integration and functional characterization. The position will entail the following: Assist with fabrication of proof-of-concept devices, which may include one or more of the following: device layout, wafer processing, metrology and characterization, physical and electrical data analysis, and documentation. Lead small development projects involving wafer metrology, material characterization and data analysis Support process integration engineering through procurement, shipping, and inventory functions Starting summer 2026 for 6+ months. Requirements • Demonstrates conceptual and practical expertise in Project Management and basic knowledge of Capital Equipment for Semiconductor Industry. • Requires knowledge and experience in own discipline; still acquiring higher-level knowledge and skills. • Builds knowledge of the company, processes and customers. • Solves a range of straightforward problems. • Analyzes possible solutions using standard procedures. Nice-to-haves • Deeper knowledge of FEP, ALD, and EPI tools is a plus.
