Position Overview: ANSER is seeking an experienced Strategic Communications Analyst to support the Department of Defense (DoD) Chief Information Officer (CIO) in the effective messaging of CIO priorities and updates to external and internal stakeholders. In this role, you will be managing all strategic messaging for SES and congressionally appointed DoD officials. This position requires onsite support at the Pentagon. Day to Day Responsibilities: Develop strategic messaging, strategies, and plans and ensure that all written communications are appropriately aligned. Coordinate with Deputy CIO offices on strategic messaging, engagements, and media inquiries across DoD CIO functional areas. Manage and execute all aspects of CIO and principal deputy CIO speaking engagements. Support the vetting, planning, and tracking of speaking engagements across the CIO organization. Draft talking points, briefings, communication reports, and press releases. Develop and internally coordinate the response to media inquiries tasked to DoD CIO, in coordination with other DoD offices with equities when applicable. Manage and create content for social media accounts. Build and maintain relationships with Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) Public Affairs, Office of General Counsel, and OSD Legislative Affairs liaisons. Ensure all official correspondence (e.g., transmittal letters, memos, and presentations) conform to DoD requirements and standards. Create, track, edit and / or support Correspondence and Task Management System (CATMS) packages. Analyze the effectiveness of strategic communications efforts and activities and identify areas for improvements in processes and outcomes. Accompany CIO and PD CIO on local speaking engagements. Required Qualifications: Active Top Secret security clearance with SCI adjudication. Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g. communications, political science, information technology, etc.) 14 years of experience related to strategic communications. Will accept 12 years of related experience with a Master’s degree. Prior technical editing experience, preferably within the DoD. Experience supporting and briefing clients at the GO/FO/SES-level or similar senior leaders. Knowledge of DoD correspondence requirements. Background in strategic communications and / or speaking engagement development / support. Experience managing social media accounts and interacting with social media users. High proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Planner. Preferred Qualifications: Experience supporting clients at the OSD level. Experience developing Congressional testimony. Prior experience in Power Automate and event photography. Experience with CATMS or other task management tool.
