Design and build scalable backend systems with AI integration and lead projects from inception to delivery in a SaaS environment. | Proven SaaS engineering experience with backend services in Node.js or Python, strong platform thinking, event-driven systems familiarity, and a customer-focused approach. | AI at Zapier At Zapier, we build and use automation every day to make work more efficient, creative, and human. So if you’re using AI tools while applying here - that’s great! We just ask that you use them responsibly and transparently. Check out our guidance on How to Collaborate with AI During Zapier’s Hiring Process, including how to use AI tools like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or others during our hiring process - and when not to. Job Posted: December 1, 2025 Latest update: February 19, 2026 Location: Americas - North, Central and South America Hi there! Zapier is leading the way in AI automation. We've helped small businesses increase productivity and serve their customers better through an extensive platform of integrations, robust workflow automations, and practical AI applications. As we continue our mission to make automation work for everyone, our current focus is to unlock that vast potential within Enterprise customers—organizations comprising dozens, hundreds, or even thousands of employees. These companies already recognize the value of automation; we are now empowering them to implement it at scale, ensuring control, visibility, and confidence in their chosen tools. To do this, Zapier is expanding its Enterprise zone and hiring across a number of roles and levels, including backend, fullstack, and frontend engineers. We're looking for engineers passionate about solving complex problems and delivering new value to customers, driving innovation in workflow management, and changing the future of automation for some of the largest companies in industry. The Enterprise zone is made up of several teams. We're currently hiring across three of them: Enterprise Response Asset Management Insights Team Focus The Enterprise Response team is crucial for maintaining the resilience and reliability of our systems, particularly during critical periods, mostly for our largest customers. This team innovates in high-demand customer areas and delivers highly requested core features that span multiple teams and organizational boundaries. This team touches every part of the stack and plays a critical role in ensuring our biggest customers get fast, dependable service. In this role, you'll: Lead responses to critical incidents and customer-impacting events Work directly with enterprise customers Collaborate across engineering, product, and support to solve urgent problems Build internal tools and improve core product features based on real-world, customer feedback Build a new extensible platform for account and organization-level settings, applying declarative controls, VPC connections to on-prem data, and instrumenting account-wide AI guardrail controls The Asset Management team is responsible for building and scaling the systems that make every Zapier asset, across products and workspaces, discoverable, governable, and portable. You will be responsible for architecting and deepening enterprise-grade Platform APIs to manage assets across multiple products, ensuring consistency, reliability, and performance at scale for all of our customers. In this role, you'll: Design and implement scalable backend architecture and APIs for asset cataloguing, ownership, and security Build intuitive, unified interfaces for organizing, transferring, and governing assets across accounts and products Embed AI technology into core product experiences to proactively monitor and suggest optimizations to account management Drive technical alignment with senior leaders and stakeholders across the organization Deliver fast-paced solutions and POCs, prioritizing impact over deep polish, while balancing short-term execution with long-term technical vision Tackle challenges in data standards, compliance automation, and cross-product integrations This team is central to Zapier's multi-product strategy, unlocking faster product onboarding, reducing manual support burden, and delivering key enterprise capabilities. The Enterprise Insights team builds and maintains the core systems that support our customers. We're not following an existing playbook, we're writing it. Here, you will help build a strong account oversight platform that connects and supports Zapier's products. You'll work on: Building scalable platforms like User Notifications, Unified Smart Inboxes, Audit Logs, Public APIs to give customers better visibility, control, and access across Zapier. Supporting key use cases such as compliance, error tracking, and transactional alerts through reliable communication systems. Creating and improving observability features like SLOs, alerts, and dashboards to help Zapier grow. Strengthening core systems as we expand to serve larger and more complex customers. Leading important projects from start to finish — using AI to speed up development and improve the customer experience, while working closely with your team. All of these roles are instrumental in ensuring Zapier can deliver on their upmarket strategy and mission. They have a direct impact in driving higher company ARR. These are high impact, high reward roles that will include far reaching features, new challenges, and close connection to customers each day. Our Commitment to Applicants Culture and Values at Zapier Zapier Guide to Remote Work Zapier Code of Conduct Diversity and Inclusivity at Zapier High Visibility, High Impact If you're someone who thrives on ambitious goals and meaningful work, this is the team for you: Work on high-impact features that directly influence premium plan sales and help close strategic enterprise deals. Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Design, Revenue, Support, and GTM teams. Work in a high-visibility area with strong leadership support and a clear growth path for engineers. Play a key role in Zapier's growth trajectory—you're not a cog in a machine, you're part of the engine. Openings We're hiring multiple openings across two levels — Engineer (L3) and Senior Engineer (L4) — across these teams. We run a shared pipeline and map candidates to the right level based on what we observe throughout the process. You don't need to decide upfront. The difference between levels comes down to scope: L3 engineers own outcomes end-to-end within their team — they break down complex problems, ship iteratively, and drive strong technical execution in their domain. L4 engineers do all of that and extend it beyond their team — they coordinate across ownership boundaries, shape technical direction for adjacent systems, and bring other engineers along with them. Our level definitions may look different from what you've seen elsewhere, so we map based on what we observe in the process, not your current title. We'll be transparent about leveling before you reach the final stages. About You These qualities apply across both levels — scope and context will vary based on where you land. We know great engineers come from a range of backgrounds and career paths. You'll be successful in these roles if: You're a proven SaaS engineering builder. You have deep experience designing, developing, and maintaining complex mission-critical systems, whether that's measured in years or in the breadth and impact of what you've shipped. You're comfortable writing backend services (Python or Node.js ideal), and you're not afraid to go deep into API design, database modeling, or CI/CD pipelines. You work through AI agents, not alongside them. Your daily development workflow is built around directing and reviewing agent-written code, not writing it by hand. You have opinions about which models to use for which tasks, you've hit real failure modes and built mitigations, and your workflow is actively evolving. Bonus: you use multi-agent patterns, enable others on your team to build faster with AI, or have scaled AI impact beyond yourself. You know event-driven systems and have strong platform thinking. You've built scalable tools that help other teams move faster and simpler. You're familiar with systems like Kafka, SQS, and Fastify, and you've worked with observability tools like Datadog, Grafana, and Graylog. You work close to the customer. You don't wait for product specs or UX research to tell you what to build. You pull customer tickets, talk to CSMs, review feedback, and use that context to drive what you ship. You think in milestone slices: what's the smallest thing I can get into production that moves us forward and teaches us something? You ship through ambiguity. When there's no spec, no designs, and no clear path forward, your first instinct is to gather customer evidence, break the problem into a narrow first slice, and get rough working software into production within days, not weeks. You use working prototypes to drive alignment with stakeholders rather than waiting for consensus before building. You're comfortable throwing work away when direction changes and you treat discarded work as a fast learning loop, not a loss. You own your work and yourself. You take initiative without waiting for permission and you ship fast and share early. But you also own your mistakes, your gaps, and your role in friction, openly. You say "I don't know" and "I was wrong" out loud, early, and without shame. You hold yourself to a high standard and can articulate where you've fallen short, not just where you've succeeded. You communicate proactively in an async-first culture. You manage up and across, flagging risks, surfacing decisions, and keeping stakeholders informed without being asked. You use written artifacts, working demos, and rough prototypes as your primary communication tools, not meetings. You believe enterprise can move fast. You've seen (or are excited to prove) that shipping to enterprise customers doesn't have to mean slow, waterfall-style cycles. You know how to balance compliance, security, and rollout considerations with tight iteration loops and rapid customer feedback. You see enterprise constraints as interesting design problems, not reasons to slow down. How to Apply At Zapier, we believe that diverse perspectives and experiences make us better, which is why we have a non-standard application process designed to promote inclusion and equity. We're looking for the best fit for each of our roles, regardless of the type of companies in your background, so we encourage you to apply even if your skills and experiences don’t exactly match the job description. All we ask is that you answer a few in-depth questions in our application that would typically be asked at the start of an interview process. This helps speed things up by letting us get to know you and your skillset a bit better right out of the gate. Please be sure to answer each question; the resume and CV fields are optional. Education is not a requirement for our roles; however, if you receive an offer, you will need to include your most recent educational experience as part of our background check process. After you apply, you are going to hear back from us—even if we don’t see an immediate fit with our team. In fact, throughout the process, we strive to never go more than seven days without letting you know the status of your application. We know we’ll make mistakes from time to time, so if you ever have questions about where you stand or about the process, just ask your recruiter! Zapier is an equal-opportunity employer and we're excited to work with talented and empathetic people of all identities. Zapier does not discriminate based on someone's identity in any aspect of hiring or employment as required by law and in line with our commitment to Diversity, Inclusion, Belonging and Equity. Our code of conduct provides a beacon for the kind of company we strive to be, and we celebrate our differences because those differences are what allow us to make a product that serves a global user base. Zapier will consider all qualified applicants, including those with criminal histories, consistent with applicable laws. Zapier prioritizes the security of our customers' information and is dedicated to adhering to all applicable data privacy laws. You can review our privacy policy here. Zapier is committed to inclusion. As part of this commitment, Zapier welcomes applications from individuals with disabilities and will work to provide reasonable accommodations. If reasonable accommodations are needed to participate in the job application or interview process, please contact jobs@zapier.com. Application Deadline: The anticipated application window is 30 days from the date job is posted, unless the number of applicants requires it to close sooner or later, or if the position is filled. Even though we’re an all-remote company, we still need to be thoughtful about where we have Zapiens working. We’ve helped businesses increase productivity and serve their customers better through an extensive platform of integrations, robust workflow automations, and practical AI applications. Zapier’s External Platform Zone is building the infrastructure that will power the next generation of automation. At the core of this effort is Model Context Protocol (MCP) — an open standard designed to let AI agents seamlessly reason, act, and orchestrate workflows across Zapier’s 8,000+ integrations. We’re hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to help design and scale the systems that enable this vision. You’ll own APIs, build platform primitives, and work closely with cross-functional partners to define how agents access the real world through Zapier. If you’re excited about working on foundational systems, love thinking in protocols and architecture, and want to help define how AI agents get work done — this is your role. As a Sr. Backend Engineer working on MCP, you’ll: Design, implement, and evolve core APIs that enable agents to take meaningful actions across Zapier’s integration ecosystem Build systems that support scalable orchestration, robust logging, and high-availability execution Influence and collaborate on the core performance for MCP focusing on memory, context windows, token usage, and reasoning steps Integrate with Zapier’s existing execution infrastructure and help build the interfaces between LLM clients and Zapier Partner closely with Product, Design, Platform, and Sales teams to ensure the protocol serves both external and internal needs Drive design decisions that prioritize scalability, performance, security, and clarity for developers and AI systems alike High Visibility, High Impact MCP is one of the most strategically important initiatives at Zapier. You have 6+ years of experience designing, developing and maintaining complex production systems. You’re comfortable writing backend services (Python or Node.js ideal), and you’re not afraid to go deep into API design, database modeling, or CI/CD pipelines. You understand and leverage AI tooling. You know how to use AI tools to accelerate your own development process (e.g. GitHub Copilot, Cursor), and you also get excited about building systems that enable others to use AI effectively. You’ve worked with or implemented components like model context protocol or agent frameworks. You thrive on platform thinking. You’ve built or contributed to platform products before, with a focus on extensibility, documentation, and robust foundations. You can make the complex simple for our customers. You lead with customer empathy and curiosity. You continuously seek context, ask great questions, and stay oriented to the bigger picture to meet the needs of customers to help them solve problems that matter to them. You bias toward action, especially when next steps aren’t obvious. You create structure, clarity, and momentum for the team surrounding your projects. You’re pragmatic and know when to ship fast and iterate - and when to sweat the details. You demonstrate an ownership mindset. You take initiative without needing top-down direction, but you’re also an effective communicator who can bring others with you. You have sound judgment, and balance user needs, technical constraints, and product goals in your decisions. You’re a self-starter who is comfortable with ambiguity. You can turn loosely defined problems into concrete action, you follow through on commitments, and you surface blockers early to recruit help defining solutions. Location: NAMER Date Opened: February 17th, 2026 Hi there! Zapier's External Platform Zone focuses on all the ways external parties—SaaS partners, developers, and AI agents—build on Zapier. The zone brings together APIs, SDKs, and embedded experiences so partners can use Zapier as connected infrastructure inside their own products and systems. Within this zone, the Partner Solutions team makes Zapier's automation and integration capabilities accessible to partners through commercial APIs, embedded experiences, and solution-focused products. We're hiring a Backend Engineer to help shape the future of partner-powered automation through the Powered by Zapier API and other products and services we own, which allow companies to create fully native automation experiences directly inside their products without reinventing the infrastructure behind workflows, triggers, and integrations. If you're passionate about designing APIs that enable developers to build remarkable automation experiences, thrive on scaling backend systems, and want to play a key role in growing Zapier's ecosystem through partnerships, we'd love to hear from you. Our Commitment to Applicants Culture and Values at Zapier Zapier Guide to Remote Work Zapier Code of Conduct Diversity and Inclusivity at Zapier Team Mission The Partner Solutions team makes Zapier's automation and integration capabilities accessible to partners through commercial APIs, embedded experiences, and solution-focused products. By externalizing core capabilities in ways that align with partner needs—APIs, embedded experiences, promotions, developer tools, and partner-oriented programs—we enable partners to deliver automation directly within their products, driving adoption, retention, and product-led growth across the ecosystem. Things You’ll Do As a Backend Engineer on the Partner Solutions team, you’ll: Design and build new partner-facing APIs that power automation and integration directly within partner platforms. Expand and improve the Powered by Zapier platform, ensuring reliability, scalability, and exceptional developer experience. Scale and Reliability Mindset: You design systems for performance, resilience, and maintainability, You think carefully about how features reach customers. Developer Experience Focus: You care deeply about usability, feedback loops, and how external developers interact with your APIs. Collaborative Spirit: You thrive in cross-functional environments, engaging openly with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers. Remote-Ready Discipline: You communicate clearly in writing, work autonomously, and thrive in an asynchronous, distributed team. Adaptability: You’re comfortable navigating ambiguity and enjoy evolving your tools and practices as the team and platform scale. Job Posted: 2/17/2026 Location: Americas Hi there! Zapier is leading the way in AI automation. As a Sr. Backend Engineer working on MCP, you’ll: • Design, implement, and evolve core APIs that enable agents to take meaningful actions across Zapier’s integration ecosystem • Build systems that support scalable orchestration, robust logging, and high-availability execution • Influence and collaborate on the core performance for MCP focusing on memory, context windows, token usage, and reasoning steps • Integrate with Zapier’s existing execution infrastructure and help build the interfaces between LLM clients and Zapier • Partner closely with Product, Design, Platform, and Sales teams to ensure the protocol serves both external and internal needs • Drive design decisions that prioritize scalability, performance, security, and clarity for developers and AI systems alike High Visibility, High Impact MCP is one of the most strategically important initiatives at Zapier. It’s foundational to our AI roadmap and plays a central role in how we show up in the broader AI ecosystem. This is an opportunity to: • Define how AI agents interact with third-party systems through Zapier • Shape a new protocol that impacts both internal platform teams and external developers • Work on high-trust, cross-functional projects with visibility at the executive level • Influence long-term architecture for Zapier’s most ambitious product experiences • Be part of a fast-moving, experimental team that values curiosity, clarity, and velocity About You We’re looking for backend engineers who bring: • You’re a seasoned backend builder. You have 6+ years of experience designing, developing and maintaining complex production systems. You’re comfortable writing backend services (Python or Node.js ideal), and you’re not afraid to go deep into API design, database modeling, or CI/CD pipelines. • You understand and leverage AI tooling. You know how to use AI tools to accelerate your own development process (e.g. GitHub Copilot, Cursor), and you also get excited about building systems that enable others to use AI effectively. You’ve worked with or implemented components like model context protocol or agent frameworks. • You thrive on platform thinking. You’ve built or contributed to platform products before, with a focus on extensibility, documentation, and robust foundations. You can make the complex simple for our customers. • You lead with customer empathy and curiosity. You continuously seek context, ask great questions, and stay oriented to the bigger picture to meet the needs of customers to help them solve problems that matter to them. • You bias toward action, especially when next steps aren’t obvious. You create structure, clarity, and momentum for the team surrounding your projects. You’re pragmatic and know when to ship fast and iterate - and when to sweat the details. • You demonstrate an ownership mindset. Application Deadline: The anticipated application window is 30 days from the date job is posted, unless the number of applicants requires it to close sooner or later, or if the position is filled. Our mission is to make automation work for everyone by delivering products that delight our customers. You’ll collaborate with brilliant people, use the latest tools, and leverage the flexibility of remote work. Your work will directly fuel our customers’ success, and as they grow, so will you. Job Posted: October 15th, 2025 Location: NAMER Hi there! Zapier is looking for a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to join our Developer Impact team, part of the Zapier Internal Platforms zone. We’re on a mission to make everyone more productive through the power of automation — and that includes our own engineers. Zapier has helped millions of people build businesses through automation. Now, we’re focused on giving our developers equally powerful tools and processes so they can build the future of automation with velocity and confidence. About the Developer Impact Team The Developer Impact team boosts the effectiveness and velocity of Zapier’s engineering organization by improving developer workflows, tooling, and processes — with a strong focus on AI-powered developer experiences and cutting-edge productivity tooling. We’re not a traditional DevEx team. We take a hypothesis-driven, experimental approach, dogfooding lightweight solutions, measuring their impact, and rapidly iterating. We aim to eliminate friction across the software development lifecycle, partnering closely with other platform and product engineering teams to create a seamless, high-velocity developer impact. If you’re passionate about high-leverage, internal platform work and love experimenting with how AI and automation can transform how developers build software, you’ll thrive here. About You • Full-Stack Expertise: You have 6+ years of professional software development experience (including 2+ years in a senior or tech lead role). You’re fluent across the stack — building resilient backend services and APIs as well as responsive, intuitive frontend interfaces using modern frameworks. • Developer Platform Mindset: You’ve built tools, frameworks, or infrastructure that other developers rely on daily. You think about developer workflows holistically — from local dev to CI/CD — and you design for scalability and maintainability. • Applied AI: You’re familiar with AI-assisted development. You’ve worked with AI pair programmers, code review bots, or ML-driven CI optimization. You’re eager to explore practical, measurable ways AI can improve engineering velocity. • Experimentation & Impact Focused: You thrive in a fast-moving environment that values experimentation. You use data and feedback to validate ideas and iterate quickly. You see “failure” as a learning opportunity. • Collaborative Builder: You work closely with engineers across platform and product engineering teams to identify pain points and co-create solutions. You treat engineers as your customers and focus on delivering tangible improvements to their experience. • Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: You write great documentation, share best practices, and raise the bar for engineering excellence. You care as much about improving team workflows as you do about shipping code. • Strong Systems Thinker: You understand how decisions in CI/CD, testing, infrastructure, or local dev environments ripple through the broader engineering ecosystem. Things You’ll Do • Build Internal Developer Tools & Platforms: Design, develop, and maintain internal products that improve developer productivity and flow. You’ll build across the stack — from command-line utilities and IDE extensions to web dashboards and APIs that streamline development workflows. • Integrate AI into Developer Workflows: Build and integrate AI-powered experiences that augment how engineers build, test, and deploy software. • Collaborate with Engineering Teams: Partner with engineers across the company to understand friction points in their workflows. Conduct interviews, shadow developers, and gather feedback to inform priorities. You’ll balance solving immediate pain with building scalable solutions. • Create and Evolve Golden Paths: Help define and promote standard, high-velocity development patterns. Maintain service templates, example apps, and internal frameworks that guide engineers toward best practices. • Enhance CI/CD and Developer Workflows: Partner with DevOps and Reliability teams to improve how code moves from laptop to production. You might optimize build caching, implement smarter test runners, or integrate automated quality checks into CI. • Dogfood, Measure, and Iterate: Use the tools you build. Gather both quantitative metrics (e.g., build time, deploy frequency) and qualitative feedback to assess impact and guide iteration. • Contribute to Developer Documentation: Maintain clear, discoverable guides for internal tools, frameworks, and best practices — ensuring engineers can quickly get up to speed and stay unblocked. • Mentor and Influence: Lead by example through thoughtful code reviews, internal talks, and knowledge sharing. Help shape the technical direction of the team and contribute to its roadmap. You’ll Love This Role If • You get energy from improving how engineers work — not just what they build. • You enjoy building high-leverage tools that multiply impact across dozens of teams. • You’re passionate about using AI to push the boundaries of developer productivity. • You thrive in a collaborative, experimentation-driven environment where learning fast matters as much as shipping fast.
