Overview Overview: The purpose of the internship is to provide meaningful professional hands-on experience to students with leadership potential and proven academic performance. Werfen hires students majoring in Life Sciences fields into this internship program based on business need. Ideal candidates will combine technical and business knowledge with analytical strength and creative problem-solving abilities. Responsibilities Position Description To perform entry level work of a routine nature requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related tasks. The Intern will be involved in the day-to-day activities of the team included aiding other departments as they relate to department projects. We expect the intern to gain an in-depth knowledge of the product and its associated processes, particularly the process activities in-which they will be directly involved. The intern will have opportunities to assist in nearly all aspects of the workflow Performs experiments in development of new or improved werfen products in R&D laboratory under the supervision of R&D staff, using werfen automated coagulation analyzers, reagent products with human blood plasma. Data gathered from the experiments can be used to complete technical data files required for product registration in multiple countries. Performs research on technology, equipment and tooling to improve process quality, yield or cost. Generates proposals based on research. Reviews process procedures, change orders, equipment specifications, validation plans, and reports. Assists in creating, reviewing and maintaining department files. Performs experiments, analyzes and interprets numerical data from experiments. Summarizes findings by computer readouts, statistical summaries, graphs and other methods Key Attributes Requires confidence in using Microsoft Word and Excel tools. Requires Enthusiasm, motivation, initiative and ability to work within an interactive and energetic workplace. Qualifications Minimum Knowledge & Experience Required for the Position: Currently pursuing B.S. in Life Sciences with a minimum of 2 college semesters complete. Ability to multitask. The hourly wage range Werfen reasonably expects to pay for the position is $21 to $26. Compensation is reasonably based upon multiple factors including education, relevant experience, skillset, knowledge, and specific needs of the business. Provide technical assistance and troubleshooting for medical instruments, train new personnel, and manage customer issues primarily via phone. | Bachelor's degree in a related field, minimum 3 years clinical experience, proficiency in MS Windows and office applications, and customer support experience. | Overview: Position Summary: Under direction of the department manager, provides technical assistance to customers and Werfen field personnel within a product line responsibility. Troubleshoots, over the phone, answers a broad range of technical questions regarding instrument performance, instrument capabilities, QC concerns and other product concerns as required. Assists in the training and direction of new personnel within the department. Responsibilities: Key Accountabilities: • Provides first line contact on phone calls for instrument assistance (hardware/software/methodology) when possible, resolves issue with customer during first contact. • Obtains and records necessary information from customer to provide adequate and useful record of contact and problem encountered. • Troubleshoots instrument problems with customer or Werfen field personnel, ascertaining customer's willingness and ability to perform necessary tasks. • When required, obtains necessary information and dispatch service request to appropriate Field Service Representative. • Assumes responsibility for call until it is transferred to the field. • Assists in training and guidance of new department personnel. • Enhances personal knowledge of Werfen products and other disciplines to increase ability to provide rapid, effective support. • Acute Care Diagnostics product line specialists participate in on-call rotation after hours/weekends and holidays. • Hemostasis product line specialists assist as needed/required with covering off-shift hours/weekends/holidays and/or on-call responsibility. • Represents the department within Werfen as required to provide proper information for problem resolution. Budget Managed (if applicable): • N/A Internal Networking/Key Relationships: • To be determined based on department needs Skills & Capabilities: • Must have good organizational skills, the ability to multi-task, work under pressure and exercise good judgment. • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, peers and management through oral and written presentations I reports. • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Windows operating systems versions. • Proficient skills in typing, Lotus Notes, Excel, Word and other job critical applications Qualifications: Minimum Knowledge & Experience Required for the Position: • Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Biomedical Engineering or a related field or equivalent experience • Minimum 3 years' experience in a clinical setting • Previous customer support experience is desirable International Mobility Required: • No Travel Requirements: • <5% of the time
