Design, deploy, and administer enterprise server and cloud infrastructure while leading migration to AWS GovCloud and managing VMware environments. | Minimum 8 years server/cloud engineering experience, bachelor's degree, expert Windows Server/Linux/AWS migration skills, and ability to obtain Public Trust clearance. | VIATEQ is looking for a Senior Server/Cloud Engineer to support our Prime contractor and government customer in Washington, DC. The position is remoteserv and requires the candidate to be able to obtain a Public Trust. We are seeking a Senior Server / Cloud Engineer with a minimum of 8 years of experience to design, deploy, and support enterprise server and cloud infrastructure for a federal civilian customer undergoing active data center consolidation and cloud modernization. The ideal candidate has hands-on expertise in administering Windows Server and Linux environments at enterprise scale and leading migration of on-premises workloads to AWS, including GovCloud. Experience with VMware-based virtualization and infrastructure-as-code is strongly preferred.   The Senior Server / Cloud Engineer will be responsible for designing, deploying, and administering enterprise server and cloud infrastructure, leading migration of legacy on-premises workloads to AWS GovCloud, and supporting the customer's active data center consolidation initiative. RESPONSIBILITIES: * DESIGN, DEPLOY, AND ADMINISTER WINDOWS SERVER AND LINUX (RHEL/CENTOS) SYSTEMS SUPPORTING ENTERPRISE APPLICATIONS AND SERVICES. * LEAD MIGRATION OF LEGACY, ON-PREMISES DATA CENTER WORKLOADS TO AWS GOVCLOUD AS PART OF THE CUSTOMER'S DATA CENTER EXIT INITIATIVE, INCLUDING FOUR PLANNED DATA CENTER CONSOLIDATIONS. * ADMINISTER VMWARE VSPHERE/VCENTER ENVIRONMENTS, INCLUDING CAPACITY PLANNING, PATCHING, AND LIFECYCLE MANAGEMENT OF VIRTUAL INFRASTRUCTURE. * BUILD AND MAINTAIN INFRASTRUCTURE-AS-CODE (E.G., TERRAFORM, CLOUDFORMATION) AND CONFIGURATION MANAGEMENT (E.G., ANSIBLE) FOR REPEATABLE, AUDITABLE DEPLOYMENTS. * SUPPORT ACTIVE DIRECTORY, DNS, DHCP, GROUP POLICY, AND IDENTITY/ACCESS MANAGEMENT ACROSS HYBRID ENVIRONMENTS. * PARTNER WITH SECURITY ENGINEERING TO REMEDIATE VULNERABILITIES, APPLY STIG/HARDENING BASELINES, AND SUPPORT CONTINUOUS MONITORING (CONMON) ACTIVITIES. * PARTICIPATE IN THE DESIGN AND TESTING OF BUSINESS DISASTER CONTINUITY AND RECOVERY (BDCR) SOLUTIONS FOR CRITICAL FINANCIAL AND MISSION SYSTEMS. * PRODUCE AND MAINTAIN TECHNICAL DOCUMENTATION, ARCHITECTURE DIAGRAMS, AND RUNBOOKS FOR SUPPORTED SYSTEMS. * PROVIDE TIER 3 ESCALATION SUPPORT AND PARTICIPATE IN AN ON-CALL ROTATION FOR PRODUCTION INCIDENTS. REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent professional experience * Minimum of 8 years of experience in server and/or cloud engineering roles * Expert-level administration of Windows Server and Linux operating systems in an enterprise environment * Demonstrated, hands-on experience migrating workloads to AWS (GovCloud experience strongly preferred) * Experience with VMware virtualization (vSphere/vCenter) at enterprise scale * Experience with Containers/Kubernetes, FinOps/cost-optimization and Zero Trust principals. Provide technical leadership and platform engineering support for AWS capabilities including Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines. | 8+ years technical leadership and platform engineering experience, bachelor's degree, and ability to obtain Public Trust clearance. | VIATEQ is looking for a Senior AWS Tech Lead to support our prime contractor and our government customer in Washington, DC. The position is hybrid and requires 1 day on-site. This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain a Public Trust.  The Senior AWS Tech Lead will support the CRM, Integration, and Platform Services workforce. This role will support AWS cloud platform engineering, Kubernetes operations, HashiCorp platform automation, CI/CD, observability, reliability, and AI-enabled delivery practices while helping the customer deliver secure, reliable, accessible, and maintainable digital services. The successful candidate will lead engineering execution, coordinate technical design, guide implementation quality, and remove delivery blockers and will work closely with government stakeholders, architects, engineers, product owners, cybersecurity, operations, and business users to convert requirements into mission-aligned platform capabilities. The Senior AWS Tech Lead will provide technical leadership and platform engineering support for AWS capabilities within the CRM, Integration, and Platform Services environment.  RESPONSIBILITIES: * Design, configure, develop, integrate, test, document, and sustain AWS capabilities using AWS, EKS, ECS, Terraform, Packer, Vault, Consul, GitHub Actions, CI/CD pipelines, CloudWatch, OpenTelemetry, container platforms, and security automation. * Implement and improve CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, container platform operations, monitoring, alerting, and secure deployment automation. * Translate business, mission, security, accessibility, and operational requirements into practical technical solutions. * Support platform architecture, backlog refinement, implementation planning, release readiness, and production transition activities. * Develop reusable patterns, configuration standards, automation, documentation, and support procedures that reduce delivery and sustainment risk. * Troubleshoot complex issues across platform configuration, code, data, APIs, identity, security, performance, and user experience. * Collaborate with cybersecurity, privacy, data, infrastructure, QA, and change management teams to align delivery with federal operating expectations. * Maintain clear technical documentation, design decisions, implementation notes, test evidence, and operational runbooks. REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Data Analytics, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience. * 8+ years of experience in technical leadership and platform engineering, preferably in complex enterprise or government environments. * Hands-on experience with AWS implementation, configuration, development, integration, testing, or operations. * Experience working with Agile delivery teams and translating stakeholder needs into maintainable technical outcomes. PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: * AWS Solutions Architect, AWS DevOps Engineer Professional, AWS Security Specialty, Kubernetes certification, Terraform certification, or comparable cloud credential. * Experience supporting federal government IT environments, Public Trust programs, or regulated enterprise delivery. * Experience with Section 508, cybersecurity, auditability, data protection, and operational documentation expectations. REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES: * Strong hands-on knowledge of AWS capabilities, implementation patterns, administration, development, integration, and lifecycle management. * Ability to design and implement secure, supportable, upgrade-aware solutions that avoid unnecessary customization and reduce technical debt. * Experience with APIs, identity and access controls, data management, testing, monitoring, troubleshooting, and release coordination. * Ability to document technical designs, configuration decisions, operational procedures, test results, and risks in clear business and technical language. * Strong communication skills with the ability to work across government stakeholders, product owners, engineers, QA, cybersecurity, and operations teams. * Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance. PREFERRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES: * Experience with DevSecOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, infrastructure as code, or platform release automation. * Knowledge of federal security and compliance concepts including NIST controls, FISMA, FedRAMP-authorized services, audit evidence, and least privilege. * Experience improving platform governance, reuse, documentation, observability, and operational readiness. * Familiarity with Microsoft 365, ServiceNow, Atlassian, Snowflake, data catalog, CRM, or enterprise integration ecosystems. COMPENSATION RANGE: $155,000 – 220,000.
