Senior Data Engineer - Finance

VercelSan Francisco, California, New York, New YorkFull-time
View Job
Compensation$70K - 120K a year

Maintain and own data pipelines and transformation models for financial reporting and forecasting. | 4+ years data engineering experience with SQL, Python, dbt, and financial data expertise. | About Vercel: Vercel is the agentic infrastructure company. We free people and agents to ship what’s next. For more than a decade, Vercel has shaped how the web is built. As the team behind Next.js, v0, and AI SDK, we create products that help builders move from idea to production with speed, security, and exceptional developer experience. Now, software is entering a new era, and the next generation of products will not just be used by people. They will be built, extended, and operated by agents. We are building the platform for that future, trusted by companies like OpenAI, PayPal, Ramp, Supreme, and millions of developers worldwide. Whether you’re building our products, supporting our customers, growing our community, or shaping our story, you’ll help define what comes next. About the Role: We're looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our Data team and own the reliability of the data our Finance stakeholders depend on. Vercel's revenue model combines subscription tiers with usage-based billing across many metered products, plus Enterprise contracts, so this data is genuinely complex to get right. This is a full-stack role: you'll build and maintain the pipelines, transformations, and data models that turn billing and usage data into the revenue, forecasting, and reporting infrastructure Finance runs on. You'll work closely with Finance stakeholders to understand how metrics are used and make sure they're right, not just build to spec. Reporting to the Data team's engineering lead, you'll have full ownership over your area, set technical direction, and help raise the bar for how the team builds financial data infrastructure. If you want your work to directly shape how the business understands its revenue and financial performance, we'd love to hear from you. What You Will Do: Own pipelines that bring billing, usage, and contract data into the warehouse reliably, including metered usage across multiple products. Diagnose and resolve data quality and freshness issues at the source, not just downstream. Design and maintain dbt models that turn raw billing and usage data into clean, trusted datasets for revenue recognition, margin, and forecasting. Set testing and documentation standards so models hold up to the accuracy bar Finance requires when reconciling usage-based revenue against contracts. Build datasets and semantic models that power the dashboards and reports Finance leadership uses for planning, forecasting, and close. Reduce reliance on one-off requests by designing for self-service. Work with Finance leaders (FP&A, Accounting, Revenue) to understand what they need from the data and why, and push back when the ask doesn't match the underlying question. Build pipeline and transformation code to a high engineering bar, and hold others to it through code review. Mentor other engineers and help set technical standards for the team. About You: 4+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or a closely related field, with a track record of owning production data pipelines end-to-end Strong SQL and Python skills, with experience writing production-grade, testable code, not just scripts for one-off analysis Hands-on experience with dbt (or a comparable transformation framework), dimensional/data modeling, and modern ELT/ETL workflows, including orchestration tooling (e.g., Airflow, Dagster) Direct experience with Finance data, ideally including usage-based billing, revenue recognition, or financial close/forecasting metrics, with genuine fluency in how those metrics are defined and used Proven ability to partner with non-technical stakeholders, translating ambiguous business questions into technical specs and durable data models, not just taking requirements at face value Strong communication skills, including presenting technical trade-offs to both technical and business audiences A track record of technical ownership, with the judgment to make architecture decisions independently and mentor other engineers Comfort with the accuracy and auditability standards Finance data requires (e.g., reconciliation, versioning, clear lineage) Benefits: Competitive compensation package, including equity. Inclusive Healthcare Package. Learn and Grow - we provide mentorship and send you to events that help you build your network and skills. Flexible Time Off. We will provide you the gear you need to do your role, and a WFH budget for you to outfit your space as needed. The San Francisco, CA base pay range for this role is $170,000 - $260,000. Actual salary will be based on job-related skills, experience, and location. Compensation outside of San Francisco may be adjusted based on employee location. The total compensation package may include benefits, equity-based compensation, and eligibility for a company bonus or variable pay program depending on the role. Your recruiter can share more details during the hiring process. Vercel is committed to fostering and empowering an inclusive community within our organization. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, gender expression or identity, sexual orientation, national origin, citizenship, age, marital status, veteran status, disability status, or any other characteristic protected by law. We free people and agents to ship what’s next. For more than a decade, Vercel has shaped how the web is built. As the team behind Next.js, v0, and AI SDK, we create products that help builders move from idea to production with speed, security, and exceptional developer experience. Whether you’re building our products, supporting our customers, growing our community, or shaping our story, you’ll help define what comes next. About the Role: Vercel is hiring a Senior Integrated Campaigns Manager to architect and lead the global, multi-channel campaigns that drive awareness, adoption, and pipeline for Vercel's platform and developer tools. You will report to the Head of Strategic Events & Integrated Demand Generation and own Vercel's integrated campaign motion. You'll translate product and business priorities into cohesive campaign narratives that resonate with developers, technical decision-makers, and enterprise buyers then orchestrate the cross-functional machine that brings them to life. Working alongside Product Marketing, Growth, Digital, Field Marketing, Strategic Events, and Sales, you'll unify individual channel efforts into a single integrated motion. Every campaign you run will blend developer-first storytelling with enterprise-grade messaging and span the full funnel from first touch to closed revenue. What You Will Do: Own the end-to-end strategy, planning, and execution of Vercel's global integrated campaigns, from big-idea development through channel activation, measurement, and iteration. Translate product and business priorities into campaign narratives and messaging architectures tailored to distinct audiences: developers, full-stack teams, product leaders, and enterprise buyers. Orchestrate multi-channel programs across paid, owned, and earned channels in partnership with Growth, Digital, and Performance Marketing, ensuring every touchpoint ladders up to a unified story. Partner with Strategic Events and Field Marketing to extend campaigns into trade shows, regional events, and developer meetups to create experiences that reinforce the campaign narrative in person. Align with Sales and BDR leadership so campaigns fuel outbound motions with the right messaging, content, and follow-up plays that convert. Build and maintain the global campaign calendar, managing dependencies, sequencing, and regional alignment across functions and time zones. Define success metrics upfront, then measure, report, and optimize by running structured experiments across creative, messaging, channels, and audience segments. Mentor and guide campaign best practices across the marketing org, raising the bar for how Vercel plans and ships integrated programs. About You: 7+ years of B2B marketing experience, with 3+ years leading integrated or demand generation campaigns — within developer tools, cloud infrastructure or other technical SaaS products. A proven track record of owning global, full-funnel campaigns end to end, with clear pipeline and revenue impact you can point to. Deep understanding of developer audiences and the nuances of marketing technical products without dumbing them down. A strong storyteller who can shape a campaign narrative and hold it consistent across every channel and region. Exceptional program management skills: you can coordinate across regions, time zones, and a dozen stakeholders without dropping threads. Data-fluent, with hands-on experience defining KPIs, building reporting, and using performance data to make optimization calls. Comfortable operating with autonomy in a fast-paced, high-growth environment where priorities evolve quickly. Bonus If You: Have marketed directly to developer communities or run technical content programs. Have launched campaigns supporting AI, cloud, or infrastructure products. Have worked in both high-growth startups and large-scale enterprise organizations. Benefits: Competitive compensation package, including equity. Inclusive Healthcare Package. Learn and Grow - we provide mentorship and send you to events that help you build your network and skills. Flexible Time Off. We will provide you the gear you need to do your role, and a WFH budget for you to outfit your space as needed. The San Francisco, CA base pay range for this role is $150,000 - $207,000. Actual salary will be based on job-related skills, experience, and location. Compensation outside of San Francisco may be adjusted based on employee location.
