If the Desk Receptionist is found responsible for violating university policies, that person’s employment status will be subject to review by the RHD and Housing and Residence Life staff. Representing the hall or Housing and Residence Life department in a negative manner may jeopardize your position. This includes your conduct as a resident, if applicable. Termination of your employment contract does not automatically terminate your Housing and Residence Life and Dining Services contracts. Confidentiality and Access Policies To ensure a sense of safety and security to our residents and to be accurate on key inventories, Housing and Residence Life has established the following guidelines for student staff members use of keys: A student staff member can expect to receive one key to their room/mailbox and a staff ID. These keys should always remain in the possession of the student staff member. Residents, including staff, should be in possession only of the keys and student ID assigned to them. Student staff members should not give a key or staff ID to their room to anyone. A student staff member should follow protocol as indicated in the “Lockout policy” when checking out keys and temporary ID cards. Student staff members in possession of a key with the intent of performing a staff responsibility should return the key immediately following the completion of the task to the designated key tender location. These keys are never to leave the building. Should a student staff member lose their room key or staff ID, this should be reported to the Hall Director immediately for security reasons. The replacement cost for a lost key is $50 and for a staff ID is determined by IT. Unauthorized use of keys or staff IDs may result in loss of employment and referral to the Dean of Students. Please contact your Hall Director if you have additional questions or need clarification.
