As a Lead DevOps Engineer on our CoCounsel for Government team, you’ll play a pivotal role in defining and maintaining robust system architectures, mentoring engineers, and ensuring our solutions for government clients are secure, scalable, and compliant. About the Role In this opportunity as Lead DevOps Engineer, you will: Define and maintain scalable system architectures leveraging AWS (preferred) or any major cloud provider (GCP/Azure) (with an emphasis on CloudFormation or equivalent Infrastructure as a Code technology), container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes (EKS/GKE/AKS), serverless (Lambda, ECS, App service, cloud run), compute (EC2, virtual machines) etc.) Collaborate with the Engineering Manager to align DevOps priorities and practices with business and product goals. Oversee CI/CD pipelines, ensuring security, compliance, and reliable deployments in AWS GovCloud or other AWS environments. Guide and mentor engineers at all levels, providing code reviews and technical coaching to foster growth and excellence across the team. Champion DevOps methodologies within the team, driving a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and proactive problem-solving. Lead and participate in incident response and root cause analysis, ensuring lessons learned are incorporated into process and tooling improvements. About You You’re a fit for the role of Lead DevOps Engineer if your background includes: 6+ years in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or a related discipline, with a proven track record leading complex cloud and container-based projects in enterprise or regulated environments. Demonstrated technical leadership and experience mentoring engineers, influencing technical direction, and establishing best practices. Extensive experience architecting and supporting enterprise-scale continuous delivery environments, leveraging advanced CI/CD automation, blue/green and canary deployments, and automated rollback mechanisms. Hands-on experience with APM and observability tools such as Datadog, CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, and Kibana for real-time monitoring and diagnostics. Comfortable with a high level of autonomy and proactive leadership, thriving in a distributed, remote-first team environment.
