The Maintenance Automation Technician is expected to preform maintenance for robotic, packaging, automation, and controls related device issues. Under limited supervision this position will be required to apply advanced technical knowledge and expertise to trouble shoot, repair and maintain the computer-controlled Systems, PLC Controlled Systems, and Robotic Systems used within operations. This position will require highly developed Mechanical and Electrical skills, along with a skilled knowledge in hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, controls, and PID Systems. What you will be doing? Apply advanced level technical support expertise to resolve highly complex equipment failures or related issues with power transmission components (chains, belts, sprockets, pulleys, bearings, clutches, gear boxes, conveyors), hydraulic cylinders and valves, pneumatic cylinders and valves, gearboxes, solenoids, actuators, pumps, hoists, material handling equipment, and other components of production, facility, and/or material handling equipment.. Must be able to trouble shoot the automated equipment and components as well as all other related automated, semi-auto or manual featured equipment. These will include devices like a servo motor and robotic control systems in our facility. Perform and demonstrate highly skilled knowledge of, and trouble shooting skills for, automation control systems throughout the facility. This will require a high level understanding of automation equipment which includes PLC, relays, sensors, PID Controllers, variable frequency drives, servos and motors. Must have skills and experience in creating and editing ladder and relay logic. Must also have a working knowledge of Visual Basic, and other basic programs. The individual must be able to use these skills to make connections to a PLC and proceed to line level logic as part of the identification for trouble shoot and repair all the automation problems, label printing and application on production equipment, and then document all work performed. Knowledgeable of sensor types and trouble- shooting on each type to determine good/bad. Duties include test, calibrate, adjust, repair, and maintain mechanical, electromechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment. Works closely with Engineering to assist them in developing, and continually improving our production process and production machines by adding value and technology. Assembles and provides support to install mechanical, electrical control, electronic components, and equipment with or without documentation. Provide component part information and cut sheets needed for scope of position. Responsible for backing up all parameters and program file library for production equipment in a secure environment for access. Fully engaged in the 6S, lean, and tier management for organization. Cleans personal and job site areas daily. Returns tools to proper locations as part of lean. All parts used, work performed and other paper work properly completed and documented. Participates in contributing and completion of continuous improvement suggestion, A3, Kaizen Events and projects for improvement. He/she fosters close connectivity between the regional sales team and the segment marketing teams, ensuring collaboration on segment strategies and account development plans. The Senior Field Engineer is primarily responsible for performing advanced, complex onsite and product evaluations regarding failure or performance issues that have occurred involving all Uponor products. They must apply technical expertise and knowledge of both residential and commercial buildings while working as part of a highly focused team. Also, they will use analysis techniques and tools to help determine probable mechanisms, contributing factors and primary root cause point of occurrence of complex and unique customer problems. This individual will deliver exceptional customer service in an equitable manner to our customers when performing investigations. While leading the field portion of the investigation, this individual will perform timely and accurate analysis, prepare reports, and present findings to both internal/external stakeholders for efficient and effective resolution of the issue. The Senior Field Engineer will manage and investigate several projects simultaneously while proposing customer remediation plan(s) and reduction of risk and cost to Uponor and the customer. This person will demonstrate teamwork within the Product Quality team, and collaborate regularly with other cross-functional departments including warranty, sales, training and marketing a providing detailed reporting of onsite and/or product failure assessments and learnings. This role is considered a Remote position based in the US. This position requires up to 75% travel in both the US and Cananda. What will you do? Prepare and oversee the preparation of approved onsite and joint examinations by scheduling with necessary stakeholders and providing required protocols and sampling plans to conduct physical assessments of property and/or products. Provide expert forensic analysis while performing detailed field and onsite inspections, property and installation assessments by conducting walk-through surveys and documenting the accessible and visible major Uponor related systems. Confirming as-built system design, layout, materials, equipment and their respective condition. Lead and manage the project resolution for Uponor plumbing and/or building mechanical products and systems installed in various types of single family and commercial building types. Conducts interviews as necessary with the owner (or their on-site representative), tenants, service providers, contractors, and other individuals knowledgeable about the subject property and the history of incidents. Performs field testing and other applicable field measurements necessary to help understand and solve the issue. Apply a practical working knowledge of building practices and operation to systematically obtain and review all pertinent construction documentation to properly ascertain if Uponor and other peripheral components have been designed, installed, and maintained properly while following local and state codes as well as Uponor guidelines and industry best practice. Collect written and photo documentation on structures representative interiors, common areas, exterior walls, fit and finish, etc. Assist with onsite, external and/or Uponor laboratory invasive forensic testing as needed. Prepare detailed written onsite and joint inspection reports and assessments outlining the risk profile, contributing factors, inspection briefings and management presentations as needed. Compile, store and organize inspection and failure analysis data in proper database for reporting, later analysis and report creation. Maintains project-by-project communication with various stakeholders keeping them informed of any actual or potential problems, including updates of when reports will be complete. Provide proactive solutions to resolve customer issues and address their concerns. Work with Product Quality engineers to coordinate extra sample testing to evaluate the state of the Uponor components throughout inspection site and building (i.e. various suites, floors and areas of building) Effectively communicates product performance learnings from onsite and joint inspections to aid in relevant corrective actions, technical product/system training and technical literature support development. If necessary, manage investigation and litigation support projects (e.g. depositions, trials, mediation and arbitration) and provide expert testimony as needed for assigned projects. Advises management on necessary action regarding possible litigation.
