Reporting to the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications, this position drives the planning, development and optimization of integrated, audience-focused digital content that supports institutional priorities resulting in engagement among donors and other key constituents of the Foundation. This role blends strategic thinking and dynamic content development and activation to strengthen the Foundation’s digital brand presence, elevate fundraising campaigns, and deepen relationships with supporters. With expertise in digital marketing and communications strategy, including active knowledge of channel platform functionality, analytics and emerging best practices, the Digital Content Strategy and Engagement Manager oversees the Foundation’s digital content calendar, manages web and email communications, and ensures consistency, quality and alignment across all marketing channels. The Manager leads the MarCom Division’s analytics reporting and is active in using data to inform decisions related to these functional areas to optimize performance. This role collaborates with a wide range of Foundation and campus colleagues and vendors. Key Responsibilities: • Use content management tools and technology to drive automation and develop and implement a comprehensive digital content strategy that advances fundraising priorities and enhances donor engagement across multiple channels. • Oversee our digital ecosystem – including websites, email marketing, social media channels and campaign microsites – and optimize information architecture, UX and storytelling flow to support donor conversion. • Track digital engagement KPIs, donor conversion metrics, and audience behavior and use data to refine messaging, test content formats and optimize user experience across platforms. • Create segmented, personalized digital communications journeys to cultivate, solicit and steward donors, and collaborate with design, data and marketing and communications colleagues to execute multi-channel engagement strategies. • Monitor digital trends in philanthropy, higher education and content marketing, and recommend innovative approaches to deepen and grow engagement. Ideal Candidate: • Ability to develop and leverage data insights to inform decision-making and optimize content performance across digital platforms, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and measurable outcomes • Ability to research and evaluate best practices for online donor acquisition and digital fundraising, and leverage them as appropriate • Strong understanding of SEO, UX principles, ADA compliance and analytics tools, as well as comprehensive skills in managing digital ecosystems and planning appropriately balanced content that engages, informs and drives growth • Bachelor’s degree in marketing and communications, digital media, computer science or a related field • 5+ years of experience in digital content strategy, digital marketing or communications – preferably in higher education, nonprofit or mission-driven sectors Accessibility and Equal Opportunity The University of Montana Foundation is committed to providing access, equal opportunity and reasonable accommodation for individuals with disabilities in employment, its services, programs and activities.
