They will partner with project leadership to coordinate and execute logistics planning activities that enable safe, efficient, and cost-effective transportation load optimization and distribution across the supply chain.  This person leads and supports key components of the transportation order conversion process, including freight tendering, mode selection, load optimization, and dispatch planning, with a focus on delivering successful project outcomes.    They identify and drive process improvements and SAP TM enhancements that increase the effectiveness, accuracy, and efficiency of transportation planning and campaign execution in addition to supporting the documentation and rollout of best practices tied to project initiatives.  This person may provide guidance, mentorship, and oversight to District Transportation Planners in support of project execution and regional objectives. There is potential for direct people management responsibilities based on organizational needs.       WHAT YOU'LL DO:   Freight Order Conversion Process and Primary Responsibilities     Responsible for planning transportation movements in the district branches, including but not limited to shuttles, IBTs, outbound orders, bulk/mini-bulk, inbound fleet movements, etc.  Effectively communicates with internal stakeholders (Commercial teams, Planners, CSR’s, etc.) in a timely manner with a professional demeanor to support a common goal of servicing customers.  Addresses and recommends alternatives for all inbound and 3rd party logistic expediting requirements for Purchasing and Sales.  Directs movement of inbound, outbound, third-party, and STO products to meet customer requirements.  Assists with scheduling inbound and outbound package, bulk, and specialized equipment carriers, including communication and arranging pickup dates.   Orders and approves SPOT (Short Order Leadtime) transportation capacity.   Works with local branches daily for capacity planning and special requirements.       Project Support and Execution     Manages schedule and execution for project teams, including coordination with IT, Commercial, Operations, Core Teams, and Carriers.   Works with Procurement to solicit rates from common carriers for special projects and campaigns.   Tracks movement of PF and CC when utilized for special projects/campaigns.   Meets regularly with project core teams and transportation leadership.   Provides light and weekend coverage when required to support projects/campaigns.   Provides project reporting to multi-departmental leadership.       Freight Lane Audit and Compliance     Files and resolves freight claim issues.   Assists with freight settlements: o Approves freight exceptions on freight bills and purchase orders. o Audits freight bills and approves for payment.       Quality and Improvement     Makes recommendations for transportation equipment and assists in the selection process.   Responds to District Transportation quality and customer service requirements and determines appropriate actions, including in-transit visibility.   Interprets company policy and ensures consistent application.   Provides input to management regarding transportation operations and improvement opportunities.        WHAT YOU'LL NEED:    College degree or equivalent business experience   3-5 years of Transportation, Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, Project Management, or Operations experience within Univar Solutions or equivalent business experience   Will need to complete and become proficient in TMS training and system  Knowledge of Purchasing or Logistics processes and functions   Outstanding organizational skills   Strong technical skills   In depth SAPTM system knowledge   Strong communication skills   Demonstrated team performer   High level of decision-making ability      WHERE YOU’LL WORK:  This is a hybrid position and can be based out of our locations in The Woodlands, TX or Houston, TX.        PAY AND BENEFITS:    The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location  Available employee benefits include health, vision, dental coverage, along with industry-leading retirement and time off programs        WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT:   Strong work/life flexibility  To be surrounded by an inclusive team who is collaborative and committed to the achievement of the company  To be rewarded for your contributions with a targeted company bonus and annual salary reviews  Competitive pay and benefits           Univar Solutions is a leading, global distributor of chemicals and ingredients essential to the safety, health, and wellbeing of our daily lives from life-saving medicines and vitamins to hand sanitizers and industrial materials used for cleaning, construction, and more.  Our global team of more than 9,500 employees support our vision to redefine distribution and be the most valued chemical and ingredient distributor on the planet!   We offer a Total Rewards package that includes market aligned pay and incentives as well as a diverse benefits offering to support our employees’ physical, emotional, and financial wellbeing.   Univar Solutions supports sustainable solutions for the world around us so that we can do our part to help keep our communities healthy, fed, clean, and safe!    We are committed to a diverse workforce and a culture of inclusion.  Together, we are building a culture that acknowledges the unique experiences, perspectives and expertise of individuals and provides the development and growth opportunities to empower us to redefine our industry.    Univar Solutions is an equal opportunity employer. District Operations Manager Under the general direction of the General Manager the District Operations Manager ensures the daily safe, efficient, legal, and economical operation of all branches in assigned District, including transportation, warehouse and tank farm. Overnight travel required.
