Discovery Enterprise Data & AI Solutions team. You will drive end-to-end delivery of complex, cross-functional data programs while also leading a team of Technical Program Managers. You will partner with our engineering teams in breaking down complex projects into specific goals and tasks, while ensuring the long-term vision is delivered. In addition to hands-on program ownership, you will provide leadership, prioritization, and coaching to TPMs, ensuring consistent execution and high-quality delivery across the organization. You are action oriented and prioritize delivering roadmap items, proactively identify gaps, as well as opportunities in engineering and operations excellence. This role will flex between leading programs directly and leading through others, stepping in where needed to keep critical work on track. Your Role Accountabilities: Team Leadership & TPM Function Manage and develop a team of Technical Program Managers: Provide coaching, feedback, and support day-to-day execution. Guide program execution standards: Establish lightweight, effective practices for planning, tracking, and delivery without adding unnecessary overhead. Resource prioritization: Allocate TPM support across initiatives based on business impact and complexity. Escalation leadership: Act as a point of escalation for high-risk or complex programs. Cross-Functional Alignment: Ensure alignment and execution consistency across global teams. Team Enablement: Encourage adoption of tools, automation, and AI-enabled practices that improve team productivity and execution quality. Communication & Influence Lead by Influence: Inspire and guide cross-functional teams without direct authority by establishing trust and clarity of purpose. Vision Execution: Set a clear vision and drive execution through collaboration, alignment, and accountability. Effective Communication: Deliver clear, concise written and verbal communication tailored to technical and non-technical audiences. Business Impact Articulation: Explain how technical decisions and program goals align with broader business and divisional objectives. Cross-Functional Alignment: Facilitate alignment across teams and stakeholders to ensure shared understanding and commitment. Portfolio Governance: Maintain visibility into the organizational program portfolio, ensuring program health, status transparency, and alignment to business priorities. Program Execution & Delivery Project Lifecycle Management: Create and drive direction and strategy across all phases of engineering and program delivery in accordance with central PMO standards. Documentation & Maintenance: Document, articulate, and maintain technical and business requirements throughout the program lifecycle. Requirements Gathering: Discover and articulate business and technical requirements and dependencies, including those involving external teams and third-party partners. Program Structuring: Translate stakeholder needs into clear program plans, milestones, and deliverables. Implementation Readiness: Work with development teams to uncover implementation details and proactively identify roadblocks. Engineering Partnership: Work closely with development teams to drive alignment, uncover risks, and ensure smooth execution. Hands-on Program Leadership: Step into and lead high-priority, complex, or ambiguous programs as needed, particularly those with significant cross-functional dependencies or risk. Risk & Dependency Management: Proactively identify, track, and mitigate risks and dependencies across teams. Continuous Improvement & Tooling: Identify opportunities to apply automation and AI-enabled tools to improve program efficiency, tracking, and delivery. Data Strategy & Systems Understanding Understand Data Flow: Analyze and map how data moves across enterprise systems to ensure consistency, quality, and accessibility. Drive Data Quality: Organize and lead initiatives that deliver high-quality, trustworthy data to internal and external stakeholders. Prioritization & Decision-Making Triage Initiatives: Evaluate and prioritize multiple concurrent initiatives to focus on the most impactful problems. Strategic Judgment: Make informed decisions about what to tackle and when, balancing short-term needs with long-term goals. Problem Solving & Innovation Problem Framing: Create clear problem statements and use data to develop proposals and solutions. Drive Consensus: Align cross-functional stakeholders around solutions and ensure smooth execution. Qualifications & Experiences: 8+ years leading complex technical programs across multiple teams 3+ years of experience managing or leading TPMs or similar roles. Data/analytics experience – you’re a data person who can understand and document how data created in systems makes its way across enterprise data landscape. Ability to function effectively and consistently when faced with frequently changing and sometimes ambiguous goals. Ability to drive definition of project scope, develop detailed project plans and facilitate the collection of engineering, operational and business requirements. Global Command Center (GCC): In the GCC, an Operations Engineer acts as part of a collaborative team environment. It is the central nervous system of incidents, major incidents, service requests, and activities throughout production, broadcast engineering, editing, and production operations at the WBD, News & Sports, and Entertainment properties. The Operations Engineer receives incoming calls, communications and tickets, performs first-call triage, resolution, dispatch, and escalation on incidents ranging from low priority to On-Air emergencies. They monitor services and equipment for a wide variety of systems and technologies and coordinate the communication around Major Incidents which have organization-wide impact to job abilities or air. Resolution of incidents are done through remote control software, researching using a knowledgebase repository, or in person for on-site customers. All incidents and requests are logged in an industry standard IT Service Management tool by the GCC. Broad communications are handled through enterprise level notification systems and organizational chat solutions. Excellent written and oral communication is key as the Operations Engineer I engages and navigates the position. Customers include WBD production teams, Engineering groups, On-Air Talent, Journalists, and Editors across multiple bureaus in multiple cities around the world globally and are supported 24/7. In addition, the Operations Engineer will have the opportunity to shadow with other engineering teams and participate at an implementation level in larger projects. This is often in the form of cabling and equipment install/removal as well as integration and testing throughout the various Terminal Gear Rooms, Data Centers, and Broadcast Facilities for WBD. Your Role Accountabilities... The Operations Engineer will be expected to develop and grow in four main competencies: Technology: Competencies in digital audio & video studio environments, control systems, audio and video edit tech, MAM, contribution and distribution systems, a strong understanding in IP production environments (SMPTE 2022/2110). Production: A solid understanding of the production and editorial process and how technology failures relate to or impact the ability to produce content or directly impact the output and audience for Linear platforms/markets. Where applicable work with DTC equivalent functions. Leadership & Management: Ability to provide leadership when responding to and leading the Major Incident response. The ability to set priorities, provide direction, support resolver groups to restore services as quickly as possible either through workarounds or a fix. Ability to influence groups who don't report to you. The ability to provide timely, accurate, clear and concise comms to the SLT and relevant stakeholders (using applicable tooling). Service Management: Has a solid understanding of service management processes, in particular Service Transition (onboarding of new services) and Service Operation (event management, incident management, Major Incident management, problem management, change management) and Service Reporting. DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS (What kind of experience might be helpful or make this person stand out from the crowd, though it might not be absolutely necessary?) * Computer Repair / Electronic Repair / Software and Hardware Troubleshooting experience * Comfortability with Windows 10, MAC OS X, CentOS (Linux experience is a plus) * Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including technical and business writing. * Customer Service experience. * Focus and attention to detail during repetitive tasks. * Ability to excel working on their own as well as in a team environment. * Ability to resolve complex technical problems in a timely manner. * Self-motivation with a passion for technology and learning * Flexibility to work in a shift environment with periodic shift rotation and days off including days, nights, overnights, evenings, weekends, or holidays. * Experience in Broadcast Engineering, Live Video Production, Information Technology, Customer Support, Networking, Computer Science, and Troubleshooting skills. * IT Networking and System Administration Experience * Programming or Scripting involving Java, .NET, HTML, PHP, JavaScript, and/or NodeJS a plus * Database Administration experience with MySQL, Oracle, MSSQL, and/or MongoDB a plus * Helpdesk / Service Desk Experience (highly desirable) How We Get Things Done… This last bit is probably the most important!
