You may just be the right candidate for this or other roles.  A Brief Overview The Principal Software Engineer will architect, innovate and create multi-disciplinary technical and functional solutions to complex business problems. This position provides technical leadership to development and design teams and oversees all technical aspects of projects. This candidate must design and implement reusaable services that are highly scalable, secure, performant, and low cost to maintain and operate. What you will do * Solves complex and ambitious problems by crafting elegant and impactful solutions and generates concise and effective analysis, reports, and presentation for both internal and external customers. * Contribute to technical innovations along with defining coding standards * Mentors and supports other members of the software development team and contributes to the software development best practices * Serves as an expert advisor to executives on the use of current and future technologies for optimal impact on current and future business strategies and results * Working closely with Product owners and other stakeholders to understand the requirements and design software solutions to meet the product requirements * Leads innovation across the organization by exploring new technologies, demonstrating how to leverage those discoveries through proof of concept and incorporating them into the platform * CIAM Architecture: Design and implement customer identity and access management (CIAM) systems using Okta APIs and SDKs.  * Protocol Implementation: Build and integrate secure authentication flows using OIDC / OAuth 2.0 (Authorization Code flow with PKCE, Client Credentials) and SAML 2.0.  * API & Microservice Security: Develop token validation mechanisms (JWT validation, scoping, claims handling) to secure backend microservices.  * Custom Customization: Write custom Okta hooks (Inline/Event hooks) and utilize Okta Workflows to extend platform capabilities and sync data with external databases. * Developer Advocacy: Create reusable internal libraries, SDK wrappers, and documentation to help product squads implement identity features safely. * Complies with all policies and standards Education Qualifications * Bachelor's Degree Computer Science, Engineering or related field or equivalent experience preferred  Experience Qualifications * Typically 12+ years Hands-on object-oriented programming in Java or Python and/or Javascript (UI) frameworks  * Experience in Architecting and Designing software solutions for enterprise-wide web application  Skills and Abilities * Experience working with cloud native CI/CD tools and technologies.  * Experience with micro service architecture, end-to-end UI/API integration, and knowledge of API protocols like REST, gRPC, and graphQL * Strong problem solving skills and solutioning complex problems  * Experience in drafting best coding practices and designing highly scalable, secure, and easy to maintain software solutions  * Solid analytical skills with the ability to refine strategic, technical roadmaps and synthesizing to make improvements and recommendations  * Ability to continously drive results, display a high level of confidence, inspire and motive team performance  * Able to architect, design, review and document high level and detail solutions  * Provide hands-on support in implementing critical components across the entire stack, from front-end, middle-tier, back-end, infrastructure and data stores to automate and scale  * Experience in building large scale platforms that deal real-time complex transactions, and ability to troubleshoot distributed systems * Knowledge of core cloud services and serverless approaches, and infrastructure as a code  * Strong understanding of Application Security best practices and Security by design.  * Deep Protocol Knowledge: Hands-on experience configuring SAML 2.0 (identity/service provider initiated flows) and OIDC (Authorization Code, Implicit, and Client Credentials grants). This individual serves as the technical lead and must have expert proficiency in associated workstation infrastructure and systems. This role also supports Software Asset Management (SAM) activities by helping manage lifecycle controls, inventory accuracy, licensing compliance, license reclamation, reporting, and cost optimization for workstation and end-user software assets. The position partners with End-User Services leadership, IT Operations, Procurement, Finance, Security, App Admin, and enterprise architecture teams to establish technical direction and governance for workstation infrastructure and software solutions supporting the mission of TriNet. Essential Duties/Responsibilities / % TIME •    Provide insight and recommendations to inform long-term IT infrastructure planning, engineering, and architecture across multiple systems by assessing the implications of IT strategies on infrastructure capabilities; partnering with IT business leaders, App Admin, and enterprise architects to review business drivers, and to define, understand, and communicate target strategies and roadmaps to IT leadership.    15% •    Provide on-site support of colleague technical needs. Provide 2nd and 3rd level technical support by creating and/or resolving standard and escalated IT support cases.
