Overview Clean Transportation Solutions at TRC, formerly known as GNA, is at the forefront of the commercial fleet sector making a transition to lower carbon fuel and cleaner vehicle technologies, with a significant amount of work currently focused on medium- and heavy-duty battery electric trucks, and some hydrogen fuel cell electric trucks. With the growing array of regulations forcing fleets in this direction, unprecedented levels of grant and incentive dollars available to assist in such a transition, and increased efforts to reduce / eliminate carbon as part of corporate sustainability commitments, our work in this space will continue to grow. Commercial fleets will increasingly request support from TRC to assist in the development and execution of their clean / zero emission fleet strategy. TRC, CTS therefore seeks a Senior Director with experience in these areas to assist in the growing demands for fleet operators looking to develop such a strategy. Elements of the strategy will likely include, but not be limited to developing: Responsibilities • A regulatory compliance plan, including reporting, for multiple state regulations; • A corporate fleet sustainability strategy, which includes responding to customer, investor and other third-party requirements for carbon accounting and reporting metrics; • A comprehensive incentive strategy that considers local, state, and federal grant programs, LCFS credits, utility program incentives, and other sources of third-party resources, as well as a plan for post-award grant reporting; • A fleet transition plan that considers the current state of zero emission vehicle technologies and the operational needs of the fleet business; • An infrastructure development plan that meets the needs of the business and planned vehicle deployments, as well as the timelines required to engage with the local utility; • An overall sourcing strategy which considers lead times influenced by supplier delivery capabilities, utility infrastructure development, grant funding programs and other such factors; and, • A workforce development plan to ensure that all levels of the fleet organization are aware and sufficiently trained to maintain and operate the new clean vehicles and infrastructure. Role In addition to working with commercial fleets, it is envisioned that this role will work with the supplier community to analyze and understand the current and forward market, and work on strategies to strategically engage the market. The supplier community may include, but not be limited to: • Truck leasing and rental companies; • Dedicated logistics providers; • Vehicle manufacturers (OEMs) and top tier component suppliers; • Fuel and fuel infrastructure suppliers; and, • Electric utilities. Qualifications Successful candidates will possess exceptional writing, research, communication, organizational, analytical, customer service, project management, and follow-up skills. Candidates must have a “can-do” attitude, willingness to work hard in order to get the job done in a deadline-driven environment, and a passion for delivering excellence. Must be a self-starter, with the ability to anticipate, respond to, and fulfill supervisor, teammate, and client needs. In this role, a range of duties could be expected, depending on the client and project. Such duties may include: • Acting in a temporary fleet management role • Developing RFPs and procurement strategies on behalf of commercial fleets, and assisting in the review, evaluation and award processes • Providing strategic consulting services, research, and marketing intelligence to a commercial fleet, suppliers, and/or other TRC clients, especially with regard to the drayage, warehousing, and regional haul markets • Working to design and execute fleet surveys • Providing strategy guidance and review on grant applications • Working with members of the CTS and TRC teams to develop and execute business development strategies targeting specific organizations, types of organizations, and sectors. • Helping to further grow the business’s fleet advisory services, including leading and mentoring members of the team, and the identification and recruitment of additional experts in the field • highly visible position externally with clients and industry stakeholders. The Project Engineer I will be responsible for reviewing project scopes of work and associated documentation submitted by the program’s Energy Advisors to ensure compliance with program requirements, quality standards, and technical accuracy. This position requires strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and a solid understanding of energy efficiency program guidelines and building science principles. The Project Engineer I will focus on internal review, oversight, and process improvement to help maintain consistency, accuracy, and compliance across all program projects and associated deliverables. The position is ideal for a candidate with 1-3 years of professional experience in the energy sector, quality assurance, or program compliance. Eligible candidates will be a hands-on, highly skilled resource and possess strong technical capabilities including knowledge of building systems and energy efficiency. Background and/or degrees in mechanical or energy engineering, sustainability and/or energy efficiency is preferred.
