Position Summary: We are currently seeking a Senior/Lead Structural Engineer for our Tampa, Florida office. This is a vacant position for which we are actively recruiting. Essential Job Functions: • Supervising groups of professionals and non-professionals or small groups of specialized engineers in the Power sector to execute both large and small projects • Liaise with other discipline leads, project managers, vendors, contractors, and clients to facilitate smooth flow of information for use in preparing preliminary and detailed design and provide design clarifications and solutions during construction. • Committing to and maintaining project timelines • The ability to document and track project tasks and related design documents is required (strong organizational skills) • Preparation and/or verification of design drawings and calculations • Preparation and/or verification of procurement activities and deliverables • Prepare purchase requisition, review technical content of supplier bids and technical submissions • Perform any required inspections as necessary for procurement of material. • Monitor project schedule and budgets within your area of responsibility and report status on a regular basis Required Qualifications: • 10+ years experience in structural engineering, specifically in structural steel and foundation design for high voltage substations, transmission lines, industrial, power generation, industrial buildings, and other utility projects. • Must possess a Bachelors’ Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering and be licensed to practice as a professional engineer in California (USA). • Experience with transmission station structures and overhead transmission lines with operating voltages not less than 115 kV • Previous experience in the design of heavy industrial structures (steel, concrete, wood, masonry), preferably in the power industry, and Consulting Engineering experience is desirable • Must have strong computer skills (familiarity with AutoCAD, MS Office, MathCAD, Structural Analysis Software such as STAAD, SFrame, RISA, LPILE and/or transmission line design software PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole & Tower, SAGSEC and CAISSON etc...) • Experience in business development and civil design would be an asset. • Strong leadership, communication, report writing, organization, analytical and interpersonal skills are required. Candidate must effectively work as part of the multidiscipline design team and provide leadership and guidance to the team. • Must be able to work independently and with others on multiple projects. • Strong attention to detail and accuracy Physical Requirements: • Ability to sit or stand as required and remain in a stationary position for at least 50% of the workday. • Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle, manipulate, or feel objects, including continuous operation of a computer and other standard office equipment such as calculators, copiers, and printers. Work Environment / Environmental Factors: • The majority of work is performed in a professional office setting. • Periodic travel may be required and could involve limited exposure to extreme temperatures. Travel may include air travel, during which the employee may be required to remain seated for extended periods. Your Role Process engineers are involved in all phases of the project cycle, heavily loaded at the beginning phases (FEL1/2/3) where they help select technologies for the project and provide the roadmap of the project for the rest of the disciplines. Process engineers are responsible to ensure the facility design will function as intended with an emphasis to ensure the design is safe. They oversee the development of the PFDs/H&MB/P&IDs on a project, create a process simulation, size equipment and lines, participate in PHA/HAZOPs, size PSVs, provide conditions of service to various engineering disciplines and interact with the clients to ensure the needs of the project are met. Process engineers are an essential role of the design team and work with project management and all disciplines to provide a successful design for our clients. Job Responsibilities • Ability to lead a discipline engineering team on projects with some guidance; supervise design personnel and other staff specialists. • Review and check designs; assists in the development of design guides, guide specifications and design control procedures. • Serve as the lead Engineer or technical expert on small to medium projects. Planning and managing the engineering activities on a project. • Maintaining the schedule and budget of assigned projects. • Conducting engineering tasks while supervising work for a small team of engineers assigned to a project. • Performs engineering calculations and develops analysis models for projects with minimal supervision. • Mentor less experienced engineers, designers and drafters. • Interface with other disciplines, vendors, clients and contractors. • Prepares specifications detailing performance requirements, specific components, design requirements, applicable design codes, and vendor drawing requirements. • Visit vendor facilities and jobsites as necessary. • Prepare inquiry and purchase requisitions, bid tabulations on simple purchases, and reviews vendor drawings for compliance with specifications. • Demonstrate a focus on least cost, safe design. Qualifications • Required: ABET accredited Institution, BS in Chemical Engineering or higher. • Required: PE license • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in engineering: field experience, experience working in the oil and gas industry (preferred) or onshore gas processing, hydrocarbon storage and transportation, chemical manufacturing, or refining. • Experience as the lead engineer on small to medium multi-discipline projects preferred. • HYSYS/Promax/VMG Symmetry process simulation software experience preferred. • Experience providing process safety engineering advice for quantified risk assessments, assessment of safety instrumented systems, alarm management, preliminary risk assessment, and layer of protection analysis. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Ability to work collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives • Proficient in Microsoft office- especially Microsoft excel • Bluebeam experience is a plus • Ability to work in a fast-paced project environment and manage multiple tasks. Target Salary Range: $95,000 to $110,000.
