Lead and develop historic preservation programs, grow impact, and support program delivery within a nonprofit context. | Extensive experience in organizational management, partnership development, and historic preservation projects, with strong leadership and community engagement skills. | POSITION DESCRIPTION Title: Historic Preservation Senior Manager Reports to: National Program Manager, State AmeriCorps Status: Full-Time Permanent Salary: $66k - $80k Annually Location: Remote (some travel required) Position Summary The Student Conservation Association (SCA) has a mission to create the next generation of conservation leaders. The SCA’s commitment to guiding new and increasingly diverse generations towards conservation and historic preservation has never been more important or relevant to the communities in which we serve. To help advance this work, SCA seeks a dynamic and passionate Historic Preservation (HP) Senior Manager. This position will work cross-departmentally to lead the development, continuity, and synergy of all SCA HP programming. The SCA provides an array of historic preservation programming across the country. The HP Senior Manager will have three primary responsibilities: 1) Design and develop SCA’s historic preservation program, 2) Grow SCA’s historic preservation portfolio and impact, and 3) Support SCA staff responsible for program delivery. This position regularly collaborates with SCA’s Program Leadership Team, VP of Philanthropy, VP of Partnership, and others to ensure program effectiveness and to advance partner relationships across the country. The HP Senior Manager will report directly to a member of SCA’s Program Leadership Team. Starting date is flexible, with potential to begin as early as late February 2026. Roles and Responsibilities Design and develop SCA’s historic preservation program * Serve as SCA’s HP subject matter expert and support effectiveness of HP program. * Develop and update internal policies, procedures, and best practices related to HP. * Liaise with SCA’s Risk Management department to monitor incident trends across HP to inform program design and training. * Develop specialized HP curriculum, member training schedules, and skills assessments in consultation with program partners and SCA program staff. * Where applicable, collaborate with SCA’s Education & Training department to develop HP courses. * Work closely with Office of Communication in developing and updating HP outreach materials. * Help identify which programs would make a good fit for SCA’s AmeriCorps program. * Use lessons learned from existing crews and interns to support new HP program development. * Inform SCA’s larger workforce development strategy and approach with the trades. * Support SCA’s goals around justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion. Grow SCA’s historic preservation portfolio and impact * Participate regularly in Partnership Team meetings. * Lead development of national and local, place-based proposals that build relationships with partners and funders. * Serve as SCA’s primary liaison with the National Park Service’s Historic Preservation Training Center (HPTC) to advance the Traditional Trades Advancement Program (TTAP), Maintenance Action Teams (MAT), and other programs. * Develop HP program budgets, with significant Salesforce and quote building support from Partnership. * Support SVP of Program to help integrate into HP programs into SCA’s larger suite of program offerings. * Cultivate existing and new collaborations with other organizations whose expertise contributes to SCA’s HP programs. * Support philanthropic proposals to advance HP, often serving as match to reduce the cost to local partners. * Assist the SCA AmeriCorps Director with any HP-related grant applications and the annual continuation process. * Represent SCA in national collaborations and diverse public settings, including at events and conferences, on webinars and videos, and in meetings with partners. * Conduct program site visits in coordination with partnership and project partners and SCA’s risk management department. Support SCA staff responsible for program delivery * Participate regularly in Program team meetings. * Support program staff in developing best practices and procedures related to implementing HP programs. * Participate in the SCA's emergency response system for Historic Preservation through on-call support during program operations, including on weekends and holidays. * Supervise one program staff person charged with implementing national HP programming. * Ensure direct report is complying with internal policies and procedures, including weekly time-keeping logs, evaluations, narrative reporting for funders, AmeriCorps requirements, and other SCA requirements. * Develop program schedules in consultation with program partners and SCA staff. * Support program staff to ensure all teams are readily equipped with or have access to necessary supplies and other logistical requirements in accordance with internal practices, including housing, vehicles, uniform, first aid kits, and tools and equipment cache. * Schedule and manage contracts with all external trainers, with support from program staff. * Meet regularly with each implementing program branch to review progress, identify program support needs, and help trouble-shoot any program implementation challenges. * This position manages other employees and is responsible for the performance management and adequate hiring of those employees. Qualifications * Proven experience in organizational management with the ability to set and achieve strategic objectives, develop and manage budgets, and oversee systems change * At least 6 years of progressively responsible experience including skills related to partnership development, project management, grant and budget management, and collaboration with foundations, businesses, and governmental agencies * Deep experience leading, managing, or supporting historic preservation projects that prioritize workforce development * Demonstrated leadership experience with excellent coaching and relationship-building skills * Experience with identifying, developing, and retaining funding partners * Direct experience in the preservation trade * Strong writing skills to lead proposal and report development * Strong community engagement skills with a proven ability to launch, gain buy-in, and build long-term relationships, both internally and externally * Demonstrated proactive approaches to problem-solving with strong decision-making capability * Experience working with youth and young adults from racially and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds and the ability to assess projects to make sure they are appropriate * Highly resourceful team-player, with the ability to be extremely effective independently * Experience nurturing a collaborative, high-performance culture when staff are geographically dispersed * Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, Google products, and Salesforce is preferred * Experience managing or applying for federal awards is preferred * Bachelor’s degree with specific major in field of endeavor is preferred Travel Requirements * Must possess a valid driver’s license and have a Motor Vehicle Record that meets SCA standards. * Excellent driving record and ability to drive in a variety of conditions. * Travel nationally approximately 10-15% of time. Reporting to the Philanthropy Systems and Operations Manager, the coordinator uses Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT, alongside Salesforce and other fundraising software, to perform data/information management tasks for Philanthropy, and aids the Manager in data analysis, system auditing and compliance, data policies, procedures, user documentation, and data load management. The successful candidate demonstrates a willingness to cross-train on team tasks, to serve as a thought partner for leadership, and to expand their skill set. The SCA is the largest provider of hands-on environmental programs for youth and young adults. Position Summary Reporting to the Philanthropy Systems and Operations Manager, the Philanthropy Systems Coordinator is responsible for supporting critical data/information management tasks for Philanthropy. Roles and Responsibilities • Work directly with internal teammates and external consultants to coordinate direct response fundraising data, including preparing queries, exports, and data files for direct response mailings, suppression lists, and fundraising reports. Act as an alternate for gift processing. • Manage direct mail segmentation and list building utilizing Blackbaud Raiser's Edge database view and RENXT, creating corresponding coding in RENXT and applying coding to constituent records. • Work closely with the major gifts team for portfolio management, list reviews for targeted mailings, development of prospect lists for events and invitations, solicitations of major donors, stewardship efforts, reporting to stakeholders, and other data work. • Manage incoming data from multiple sources, including FundraiseUp, GetThru, and Salesforce Marketing Cloud. • Work closely with the email marketing manager to manage data for email communications. • Partner with the Philanthropy Systems and Operation Manager to troubleshoot database issues, maintain data health, and refine procedures to continually improve processes. • Assist with the implementation of new applications and programs related to Raisers Edge, as well as the training and onboarding of Philanthropy staff for these systems. • Along with other members of the team, respond to Philanthropy helpdesk tickets in a helpful and timely manner. Qualifications • Bachelor's degree with 3 years of experience in fundraising technology, customer relationship management (CRM), or database systems. • Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT, Salesforce, FundraiseUp, and Omatic experience preferred. • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word). • Expert knowledge of Excel. • Proven and excellent attention to detail, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills. • Ability to be flexible and cooperative in a collaborative, fast paced, dynamic with multiple deadlines. • Willingness/ability to quickly learn new programs and systems and continue training and professional development. • Ability to write and edit complex data queries to target precise donor segmentation lists and reporting data sets. • Ability to translate complicated data and trends into clear spoken and written communications for non-data experts. • Ability to proactively approach problems with recommended solutions. • Ability to work in a team environment and be able to work independently. • Ability to work autonomously and manage a remote workload effectively.
