Assist in planning and executing live sporting event broadcasts, manage video boards and technical equipment, produce and edit digital video and graphic content, and supervise student staff. | Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years of full-time video production or graphic design experience with proficiency in specific broadcast and editing software and live event production. | Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume): Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Two (2) years of full time video production and/or graphic design experience. Experience with video editing software (Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere). Experience with live event production for video boards and/or streaming/television. Experience with Ross Carbonite, NewTek TriCaster, Blue Frame Production Truck, Ross XPression, 3Play, DVSport. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite. Experience with social media content creation and execution. Knowledge of general graphic design principles, typography and color theory as well as production process for print and digital media. Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Game-day management experience for athletic contests. Broadcast experience within college athletics. Experience in a college athletic department setting. Previous experience with a Division I Athletic Program. Brief Description of Duties: The Assistant Director of Broadcast Operations and Creative Video Storytelling is responsible for assisting the Director of Broadcast operations for all of the productions of live sporting events for Stony Brook Athletics. Those responsibilities include creating and producing live events for all conferences, linear tv and in house broadcasts along with managing in-venue scoreboards and technical assistant. The Assistant Director will help provide supervision for all gameday and student staff while maintaining all technical equipment. In addition, the Assistant Director will help create, produce and edit digital, video and graphic content in support of the department’s mission. Broadcast Operations: Assist in the planning, strategizing and execution of in venue video boards and live sporting events for Stony Brook Athletics, including all linear tv games and streamed broadcasts. Set up and maintain audio/video equipment for all events that take place in the department’s venues. Help run the production room before, during and after live productions which may include directing, technical directing and operation of replay and graphic machines. Will work closely with the Director to ensure all conference quality standards are met and broadcast packages updated and maintained. Assist in the maintenance of all equipment needed for productions. Troubleshoot any technical issues that may arise. Collaborate with other members of external staff on gameday scripts to ensure a first-rate fan experience. Creative Video Storytelling: Serve as the key member of the staff who will help execute all gameday graphic, video and digital strategy in support of our mission. Will assist the Director in production of the “Wolfie’s.” Manage the training and mentoring of the Athletic student assistants/interns and volunteers. Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission. Special Notes: This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption. In addition to the employee's base salary, this position is eligible for $4000 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly. Evening and weekend work may be required at times. Brief Description of Duties: The Assistant Director for Communications supports the Stony Brook University Athletics Department’s mission by managing the overall communication, branding, and multimedia efforts of the athletic department. The Assistant will be responsible for promoting athletic achievements, managing game day operations, and developing multimedia content to enhance the visibility of Stony Brook University's athletic programs. They will work with local, regional, and national media, as well as internal departments, to support Athletics’s goals. Digital and Multi-Media Content Brand Identity: Create and maintain the graphic brand identity for Athletics, ensuring alignment with University brand guidelines. Graphic Templates: Develop and design department graphic templates for use by communications staff to support revenue, recruiting, and recognition efforts. Collaboration: Work closely with the Office of Strategic Communications on graphic design, video creation, and documentation throughout the year. Digital Asset Management: Convert video and graphic creatives onto the University’s Digital Asset Management software system. Video Initiatives: Execute the department’s video initiatives, including production and management. Student Interns: Manage the hiring, training, and education of student interns for game day and daily workflow within the Athletic Communication department. Game Management Gameday Strategy: Execute all gameday graphic, video, and digital strategies in support of 18 intercollegiate sports. Personnel Management: Train and mentor Athletic student assistants, interns, and volunteers. Media Relations: Manage courtside and press box personnel, ensure accurate official statistics, coordinate media access and interviews, prepare game programs and notes, and create post-game releases. Publications Development Media Guides and Brochures: Create, prepare, produce, and distribute media guides, recruiting brochures, and schedule cards for assigned sports programs. Postseason Guides: Write, design, and produce postseason guides for teams participating in playoffs. Fundraising Publications: Collaborate with External Services staff to produce fundraising reports and newsletters. Media Contact Primary Contact: Serve as the primary media contact for assigned intercollegiate programs. Media Relations: Cultivate relationships with local, regional, and national media outlets, manage media requests, and ensure timely and accurate reporting of athletic events and news. Feature Stories: Research and write feature stories about student-athletes and department news for internal and external publication. Graphic Design Creative Design: Provide creative design support for department functions and initiatives, including posters, flyers, brochures, and invitations. Writing: Write articles for various department and university publications distributed to the university community, alumni, and external media outlets.
