Develop and execute earned media strategies including pitching, media list management, and executive media preparation. | 7+ years PR/earned media experience with proven ability to secure coverage and strong editorial and outreach skills. | STFRD is seeking an experienced, independent PR consultant to support earned media and executive thought leadership across a range of clients. This is a part-time, hourly consulting engagement with the option to earn success fees tied to high-value outcomes (e.g., mainstream coverage and executive interviews). What you’ll do Build and refine newsworthy narratives (positioning, messaging, proof points). Develop earned media plans spanning: • Mainstream business press • Relevant industry/trade outlets • Podcasts, newsletters, broadcast opportunities (as appropriate) Pitch and secure executive interviews Create and maintain media target lists, pitching calendar, and outreach tracking. Draft PR essentials as needed: • Pitch angles, press releases (when warranted), media advisories • Talking points, FAQs, executive bios, one-pagers, mini media kits Support media readiness: prep calls, messaging drills, mock Q&A. Coordinate with STFRD on approvals, timing, and supporting assets. What success looks like • Executive interviews secured with credible outlets (mainstream + high-value vertical). • A repeatable story engine that drives consistent coverage. • Clear reporting on activity and outcomes: pitches, responses, interviews booked, coverage landed. Ideal background • 7+ years in PR / earned media (agency, in-house, or independent). • Demonstrated ability to land coverage, not only write press materials. • Strong editorial instincts and relationship-driven outreach. • Proactive, organized, reliable follow-through as a solo operator. • Bonus: crisis/issues PR, awards/speaking strategy, executive media coaching. Compensation • Hourly rate: Competitive, based on experience. • Success fees: Available for defined, mutually agreed outcomes.
