Lead a team to analyze and decommission legacy DB2 data warehouse systems by reviewing COBOL and JCL code, managing project milestones, and engaging stakeholders. | 10+ years mainframe (COBOL, JCL), 5+ years DB2 and SQL analysis, strong leadership and communication skills, experience with legacy system modernization. | Job Title: Technical Lead (DB2 Data Warehousing / Mainframe Background) Location: Remote Job Overview: We are looking for a Technical Lead with strong experience in DB2 Data Warehousing and mainframe technologies (COBOL, JCL). This role will support a major project to decommission a legacy DB2 Data Warehouse by 2027. The selected candidate will lead a small team and work closely with business and technical stakeholders to analyze existing COBOL programs and mainframe jobs, identify obsolete components, and support the cleanup and modernization process. Top 3 Required Skills: Ø DB2 Data Warehouse experience Ø COBOL & Mainframe (JCL) expertise Ø Strong communication and leadership skills, including providing status updates and managing project milestones Key Responsibilities: Project Management: · Manage project status reports, RAID logs, and milestones · Escalate issues and keep stakeholders informed Codebase Review: · Analyze COBOL and JCL programs to categorize them as Active, Less Active, or Inactive · Create and maintain an inventory of prioritized code components Static Code Analysis: · Examine programs for embedded SQL and DB2 interactions · Build call trees to understand subprogram dependencie DB2 Table Mapping: · Map COBOL programs to DB2 tables using SQL clause analysis · Align mappings with data warehouse schemas · Automate outputs for reporting DB2 Catalog Validation: · Query DB2 catalog to confirm actual usage of tables · Identify packages, bound programs, and dynamic SQL usage · Stakeholder Engagement & Strategic Planning: · Work with business and technical teams to define modernization scope · Provide effort estimates and contribute to planning · Present findings and recommendations to leadership Qualifications: · 10+ years of experience with mainframe systems (COBOL, JCL) · 5+ years of experience with DB2, SQL analysis, and catalog queries · Background in data warehousing and legacy system modernization · Strong understanding of mainframe batch processing and DB2 utilities · Excellent leadership, communication, and documentation skills · Experience leading offshore teams is a plus Job Types: Full-time, Contract Pay: $45.34 - $54.61 per hour Work Location: Remote
