Build, mentor, and grow a team of senior functional and design leaders; scale and evolve the org in alignment with company growth. Develop career paths and programs tailored to individual team member professional development. Build, evolve, and scale UX processes, standards, and tools, owning the AI agenda for the org by identifying and driving high-impact opportunities to embed AI into research, design systems, content/localization, and the software development lifecycle. Work closely with executive leadership, product, engineering, and go-to-market teams to define strategy and ensure design and AI-forward thinking are embedded in critical business decisions. Establish and own key metrics tying design and AI initiatives to user satisfaction, adoption, retention, revenue outcomes, and delivery velocity; regularly review and communicate progress. Translate business goals into innovative, creative, and engaging product experiences. Own content strategy and localization approaches across all product lines. You Have: 15+ years of experience in a highly cross-functional role running strategic projects from idea through implementation. 15+ years leading and building UX, design, research, or content organizations, including experience as a manager of managers with P&L responsibility. A track record of building and scaling high-performing, multi-disciplinary teams (research, design, design systems, content, localization, engineering-adjacent functions). Deep expertise in research methodologies, design strategy, content strategy, and localization best practices for global B2B SaaS platforms. Principal Security Engineer - GRC Team Lead (Remote Eligible)

SmartsheetAnywhereFull-time
View Job
Compensation$205K - 275K a year

Lead and architect technical GRC strategy, automation, audit readiness, and team management. | Requires 10+ years in GRC or related roles with deep compliance framework expertise, technical cloud and automation skills, and leadership experience. | Smartsheet's GRC function is at an inflection point. As we scale our compliance programs across multiple frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001, FedRAMP, HIPAA, and emerging regulations), the manual work is becoming unsustainable. We need a technical GRC leader-someone who understands both compliance deeply and how to engineer solutions. As GRC Team Lead, you'll architect the technical foundation for how Smartsheet manages risk and compliance at scale. You'll design policy-as-code systems, build custom control frameworks aligned with our unique architecture, manage full audit cycles, and lead process improvements that make our GRC function a scalable engine. This is a principal-level role combining compliance expertise with technical execution. You'll be responsible for the strategy and delivery of GRC automation, evidence collection systems, audit readiness, risk management workflows, and technical control implementation. You'll work across security, engineering, and product teams to embed compliance into operations and reporting. This is an excellent opportunity to define how a world-class SaaS company approaches GRC in 2026 and beyond. What You Will Do • Own the end-to-end GRC strategy and roadmap: Lead the planning and prioritization of GRC initiatives that drive compliance maturity, reduce audit risk, and improve operational efficiency. • Design and implement policy-as-code systems: Translate compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001, FedRAMP, HIPAA) into enforceable code, leveraging Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation) and automated compliance validation. • Build custom control frameworks: Design Smartsheet-specific Unified Control Frameworks (UCF) and Secure Control Frameworks (SCF) that map to our cloud architecture, multi-framework requirements, and organizational risk appetite. • Lead full audit cycles: Manage preparation, execution, and resolution for SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, FedRAMP, and other certification audits. Own evidence gathering, audit readiness tracking, and post-audit remediation. • Architect GRC platform strategy: Evaluate, select, configure, and integrate GRC tooling (Vanta, Drata, or similar) with our cloud infrastructure, identity systems, ticketing systems, and CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous compliance monitoring. • Design automated evidence collection and validation: Build data pipelines and integrations that automatically collect compliance evidence from AWS, application logs, identity systems, and operational tools; validate accuracy and reduce manual verification. • Translate compliance requirements into technical implementations: Work with engineering and security teams to express policies and regulatory requirements in a way they can execute and monitor-breaking down silos between compliance and technical teams. • Establish risk management and governance processes: Design and operate risk registers, control effectiveness assessments, continuous monitoring workflows, and escalation processes that provide leadership with real-time visibility into compliance posture. • Build and lead the GRC team: Mentor and develop your team, establish technical and operational practices, define the playbooks for compliance execution, and create a culture of continuous improvement. What You Have • 10+ years of experience in GRC, compliance, security engineering, or related roles, with 5+ years in a technical or leadership capacity managing compliance programs at scale. • A degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity or a related field or equivalent practical experience. • Deep hands-on expertise in running full audit cycles across multiple frameworks, particularly SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, and FedRAMP. You've managed evidence preparation, control testing, audit remediation, and continuous monitoring. • Strong technical foundation in cloud architecture and compliance: Working knowledge of AWS/GCP/Azure, infrastructure-as-code (Terraform), CI/CD pipelines, identity and access management, encryption, and logging-sufficient to design control implementations and validate technical posture. • Hands-on experience with GRC platform administration and customization (Vanta, Drata, ServiceNow GRC, or equivalent), including integration design and workflow automation. • Proficiency in policy-as-code and compliance-as-code principles: Experience implementing automated controls, policy enforcement, and continuous compliance validation through code and configuration. • Fluency in multiple compliance frameworks: Deep knowledge of SOC 2 Trust Service Criteria, ISO 27001 control objectives, NIST 800-53 (or 800-171 for government), and experience with HIPAA, GDPR, and industry-specific frameworks. • Scripting and automation skills: Comfortable with Python, Bash, or similar for building integrations, data pipelines, and automated control validation. • Excellent communication and program management: Ability to distill complex compliance concepts for both technical and business audiences, manage multi-workstream programs, and drive alignment across teams. • Some federal/government sector experience is valuable but not required: Understanding of FedRAMP processes, government compliance nuances, and federal contractor requirements is a plus. • US Person Status: Must be a U.S. Citizen, U.S. National to meet federal compliance requirements. Nice to Have • Professional certifications: CISSP, CISM, CISA, CRISC, GRCP, or AWS Certified Security - Specialty. • Experience with AI governance frameworks (NIST AI RMF, ISO 42001) as emerging compliance requirements. • Background in DevSecOps or security operations with hands-on CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code experience. • Experience with SaaS-scale operations and rapid compliance scaling in high-growth environments. Current US Perks & Benefits: • Employer subsidized medical/vision and dental coverage for full-time employees • 401k Match to help you save for your future (50% of your contribution up to the first 6% of your eligible pay) • Monthly stipend to support your work and productivity • Flexible Time Away Program, plus Sick Time Off • US employees are automatically covered under Smartsheet-sponsored life insurance, short-term, and long-term disability plans • US employees receive 12 paid holidays per year • Up to 24 weeks of Parental Leave • Personal paid Volunteer Day to support our community • Opportunities for professional growth and development including access to Udemy online courses • Company Funded Perks, including a counseling membership, local retail discounts, and your own personal Smartsheet account • Teleworking options from any registered location in the U.S. (role specific) Smartsheet provides a competitive base salary range for roles that may be hired in different geographic areas we are licensed to operate our business from. Principal Security Engineer – GRC Team Lead (Remote Eligible)

SmartsheetAnywhereFull-time
View Job
Compensation$85K - 130K a year

Lead GRC strategy by architecting technical foundations and automating compliance across cloud infrastructures. | 10+ years in GRC or security engineering with expertise in SOC 2, ISO 27001, FedRAMP, cloud architecture, scripting, and GRC platform administration. | For over 20 years, Smartsheet has empowered teams to manage work seamlessly and scale solutions smarter. Now, in our most ambitious chapter yet, we are uniting human teams with AI agents. By orchestrating the work agents do best, automating manual tasks and uncovering insights at scale, we create the space for people to focus on what truly matters: judgment, creativity, and big thinking. That is magic at work, and it’s what we show up for every day. Smartsheet's GRC function is at an inflection point. As we scale our compliance programs across multiple frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001, FedRAMP, HIPAA, and emerging regulations), the manual work is becoming unsustainable. We need a technical GRC leader—someone who understands both compliance deeply and how to engineer solutions. What You Will Do Own the end-to-end GRC strategy and roadmap: Lead the planning and prioritization of GRC initiatives that drive compliance maturity, reduce audit risk, and improve operational efficiency. Design and implement policy-as-code systems: Translate compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001, FedRAMP, HIPAA) into enforceable code, leveraging Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation) and automated compliance validation. Build custom control frameworks: Design Smartsheet-specific Unified Control Frameworks (UCF) and Secure Control Frameworks (SCF) that map to our cloud architecture, multi-framework requirements, and organizational risk appetite. Lead full audit cycles: Manage preparation, execution, and resolution for SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, FedRAMP, and other certification audits. Own evidence gathering, audit readiness tracking, and post-audit remediation. Architect GRC platform strategy: Evaluate, select, configure, and integrate GRC tooling (Vanta, Drata, or similar) with our cloud infrastructure, identity systems, ticketing systems, and CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous compliance monitoring. Design automated evidence collection and validation: Build data pipelines and integrations that automatically collect compliance evidence from AWS, application logs, identity systems, and operational tools; validate accuracy and reduce manual verification. Translate compliance requirements into technical implementations: Work with engineering and security teams to express policies and regulatory requirements in a way they can execute and monitor—breaking down silos between compliance and technical teams. Establish risk management and governance processes: Design and operate risk registers, control effectiveness assessments, continuous monitoring workflows, and escalation processes that provide leadership with real-time visibility into compliance posture. Build and lead the GRC team: Mentor and develop your team, establish technical and operational practices, define the playbooks for compliance execution, and create a culture of continuous improvement. What You Have 10+ years of experience in GRC, compliance, security engineering, or related roles, with 5+ years in a technical or leadership capacity managing compliance programs at scale. A degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity or a related field or equivalent practical experience. Deep hands-on expertise in running full audit cycles across multiple frameworks, particularly SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, and FedRAMP. You've managed evidence preparation, control testing, audit remediation, and continuous monitoring. Strong technical foundation in cloud architecture and compliance: Working knowledge of AWS/GCP/Azure, infrastructure-as-code (Terraform), CI/CD pipelines, identity and access management, encryption, and logging—sufficient to design control implementations and validate technical posture. Hands-on experience with GRC platform administration and customization (Vanta, Drata, ServiceNow GRC, or equivalent), including integration design and workflow automation. Proficiency in policy-as-code and compliance-as-code principles: Experience implementing automated controls, policy enforcement, and continuous compliance validation through code and configuration. Fluency in multiple compliance frameworks: Deep knowledge of SOC 2 Trust Service Criteria, ISO 27001 control objectives, NIST 800-53 (or 800-171 for government), and experience with HIPAA, GDPR, and industry-specific frameworks. Scripting and automation skills: Comfortable with Python, Bash, or similar for building integrations, data pipelines, and automated control validation. Excellent communication and program management: Ability to distill complex compliance concepts for both technical and business audiences, manage multi-workstream programs, and drive alignment across teams. Some federal/government sector experience is valuable but not required: Understanding of FedRAMP processes, government compliance nuances, and federal contractor requirements is a plus. Eligible to work in the United States Nice to Have Professional certifications: CISSP, CISM, CISA, CRISC, GRCP, or AWS Certified Security – Specialty. Experience with AI governance frameworks (NIST AI RMF, ISO 42001) as emerging compliance requirements. Background in DevSecOps or security operations with hands-on CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code experience. Experience with SaaS-scale operations and rapid compliance scaling in high-growth environments. Senior Security Engineer II, Application Security (Remote Eligible)

SmartsheetAnywhereFull-time

Compensation$90K - 130K a year

Secure AI-integrated systems and deploy AI automation to scale risk visibility and reduction across a SaaS platform, leading security assessments and managing CI/CD pipeline security controls and bug bounty operations. | 8+ years in application security with strong software engineering skills and hands-on experience securing LLM systems and manual web application testing. AI is changing what application security can accomplish. We're not just securing AI; we're using it as a force multiplier to see more risk, act faster, and scale security across a platform used by millions of customers globally. We're looking for a Senior Security Engineer II to join our Application Security team who can do both: bring deep expertise in securing AI-integrated systems, and deploy AI and automation to drive risk visibility and reduction at a scale no traditional security program can match on its own. This is a high-ownership, technically demanding role for an experienced application security engineer. You will work at the intersection of threat-informed design, engineering automation, and applied AI, doing consequential security work that directly shapes the posture of a modern SaaS platform. If you're a security engineer who writes code to solve security problems, can read a production codebase to find what a scanner misses, and wants your work to matter beyond a ticket queue, we want to talk. You will report to the Manager, Application Security , based in our Bellevue, WA office, or you may work remotely from anywhere in the US where Smartsheet is a registered employer. You Will: Secure AI Systems and Use AI to Scale Security: Conduct security reviews and threat modeling of AI-integrated product features (LLM workflows, agentic pipelines, model APIs) with working knowledge of AI-specific risk classes including prompt injection, model manipulation, and runtime control gaps; and in parallel, deploy AI and automation as a force multiplier by building tooling, pipelines, and integrations that extend the team's reach, accelerate triage, and drive risk visibility at a scale manual effort alone cannot achieve. Deliver Application Security Reviews: Own end-to-end security assessments for high-risk features and services (threat modeling, architecture review, targeted code review, and security testing) embedded in the product development lifecycle. Work directly with engineering teams to surface and close risk before it ships, with enough technical credibility to influence design decisions, not just document findings. Advance CI/CD Pipeline Security: Operate and evolve the security scanning controls embedded in Smartsheet's GitLab pipelines (SAST, SCA, secrets, IaC scanning). Tune tools, engage teams on findings, and build automation that reduces false positive burden and improves how developers experience security feedback. Run Bug Bounty Operations: Serve as the expert validation layer for Smartsheet's bug bounty program, reproducing and assessing complex, multi-step researcher submissions requiring authenticated context and deep platform knowledge, making defensible severity and payout decisions, and owning program operations including researcher engagement, metrics, and continuous improvement. You Have: Experience: 8+ years in application security, with a track record of owning complex, multi-capability work in a product security or AppSec engineering role. Software engineering foundation: Fluent in one or more modern languages (Java, Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, Go, Ruby, or equivalent); you identify security-relevant patterns without relying on tooling and write automation that others adopt. AI security: Hands-on experience securing AI-integrated applications (LLM systems, agentic workflows, model APIs) and demonstrated experience deploying AI and automation to scale security functions or extend team reach. You bring both skill sets. Security review depth: Threat modeling, architecture review, and code review for complex SaaS features; you produce findings engineering teams can act on and carry enough technical credibility to influence design decisions, not just document them. Manual web application testing: Independent, hands-on validation of complex, multi-step authenticated vulnerabilities; you confirm what scanners flag and find what they miss. Bug bounty experience: Operator, active researcher, or both; direct experience with triage, severity calibration, and researcher communication. CI/CD pipeline security: Working knowledge of SAST, SCA, secrets, and IaC scanning in modern pipelines, with experience engaging teams on findings and improving signal quality. Cloud security fundamentals: Working knowledge of AWS, GCP, or Azure sufficient to tie application-layer risk to the infrastructure it runs on; you understand where the application ends and the cloud begins. Legally eligible to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis BS or MS in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent industry experience NICE TO HAVE: Experience with agentic security, MCP security, or adversarial evaluation of autonomous AI systems. GitLab CI/CD experience, including security policy pipeline configuration and scanning job integration. Active bug bounty researcher with published findings, CVE credits, or hall of fame recognition. Penetration testing program management experience: scope definition, vendor coordination, and finding validation with third-party testers. Current US Perks & Benefits: Employer subsidized medical/vision and dental coverage for full-time employees 401k Match to help you save for your future (50% of your contribution up to the first 6% of your eligible pay) Monthly stipend to support your work and productivity Flexible Time Away Program, plus Sick Time Off US employees are automatically covered under Smartsheet-sponsored life insurance, short-term, and long-term disability plans US employees receive 12 paid holidays per year Up to 24 weeks of Parental Leave Personal paid Volunteer Day to support our community Opportunities for professional growth and development including access to Udemy online courses Company Funded Perks, including a counseling membership, local retail discounts, and your own personal Smartsheet account Teleworking options from any registered location in the U.S. (role specific) Smartsheet provides a competitive base salary range for roles that may be hired in different geographic areas we are licensed to operate our business from. View Job
Compensation$55K - 120K a year

Build and maintain core infrastructure ensuring system reliability and collaborate daily through mob programming. | Proficiency in a modern backend language, desire to learn Infrastructure as Code and database internals, and a relevant bachelor's degree. The App Core team is looking for a curious, growth-minded Software Engineer II to work on the core infrastructure of Smartsheet, focusing on the reliability, stability, and scale of our foundational systems. This role is a perfect fit for a developer who has the software engineering basics down and wants to fast-track their skills at the intersection of generalist backend engineering and Infrastructure as Code (IaC). This team practices mob programming for the majority of the workday. We operate through collective code ownership, meaning you'll be collaborating in real-time with teammates most of the time—not working solo on isolated tasks. We focus on building high-quality software while adhering to rigorous operational best practices. If you are passionate about continuous learning and ready to dive into the core foundation of our platform, we want to hear from you. You Will: Contribute to Core Infrastructure: Help build and maintain the core infrastructure that serves as the backbone for Smartsheet. Contribute to a robust environment that ensures the foundational reliability, stability, and performance expected by all of our users. Collaborate via Mob Programming: Work closely with the team every day in a real-time development environment. Actively participate as both a driver and a navigator, asking questions, sharing ideas, and contributing directly to the team's collective code ownership. Contribute to Database & Infrastructure Reliability: Dive deep into system internals. With team support, you will contribute to managing and upgrading large-scale database infrastructure, maintaining complex replication topologies, and automating core operations using AWS, Golang, MySQL, Terraform, Temporal, and GitLab-CI. Practice High-Quality Engineering: Use Test-Driven Development (TDD) to ensure our foundational systems are resilient before they ever touch production. Beyond the code, you will be an active participant in our team book clubs and psychologically safe retrospectives to help continuously elevate how we work. Participate in On-Call Rotations: Share responsibility for operational health of our systems as part of a supportive on-call rotation. You'll be ramped in gradually with experienced teammates available to help. You Have: Foundational Coding Skills: Proficiency in at least one modern programming language with backend development experience. Go experience is a plus but not required—we'll teach you. Java or Python backgrounds translate well. Database & Infrastructure Curiosity: A strong desire to learn Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and an eagerness to understand database internals and reliability (MySQL). Collaborative Mindset: A genuine interest in team-centric engineering practices. You should be comfortable (or eager to become comfortable) working in a mob programming environment the majority of the day, writing test-driven code, and sharing system ownership. Problem Solving: A critical thinker who enjoys troubleshooting complex technical problems and wants to understand how large-scale systems maintain stability and scale Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the confidence to ask questions, participate in group discussions, and think out loud with your team. Education: A BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent capability). Eligibility: Legally authorized to work in the United States on an ongoing basis Current US Perks & Benefits: Employer subsidized medical/vision and dental coverage for full-time employees 401k Match to help you save for your future (50% of your contribution up to the first 6% of your eligible pay) Monthly stipend to support your work and productivity Flexible Time Away Program, plus Sick Time Off US employees are automatically covered under Smartsheet-sponsored life insurance, short-term, and long-term disability plans US employees receive 12 paid holidays per year Up to 24 weeks of Parental Leave Personal paid Volunteer Day to support our community Opportunities for professional growth and development including access to Udemy online courses Company Funded Perks, including a counseling membership, local retail discounts, and your own personal Smartsheet account Teleworking options from any registered location in the U.S. (role specific) Smartsheet provides a competitive base salary range for roles that may be hired in different geographic areas we are licensed to operate our business from.
