How You’ll Make An Impact We are excited to offer a Summer Internship opportunity on our Core Listener – Streaming Design team, which shapes the SiriusXM listening experience across mobile, tablet, desktop, TV, and in-car platforms (including CarPlay and Android Auto), where attention and context matter. As a Product Design Intern, you’ll contribute to real design work that explores how listeners discover, engage with, and build deeper connections to the content they love. You’ll collaborate closely with experienced product designers and cross-functional partners, while building your skills in interaction design, visual design, prototyping, and storytelling. This role is especially well suited for someone excited about designing for: • Live audio experiences • Fan engagement and fandom • Cross-platform journeys (e.g., connecting in-car and mobile experiences) • Emerging patterns in streaming, media, and entertainment products What Success Looks Like By the end of the internship, you will have owned a clearly scoped design problem and delivered a portfolio-ready case study. This includes framing the problem, exploring and prototyping solutions, incorporating feedback or lightweight testing, and clearly articulating what you learned and what you would recommend next. Success in this role is about demonstrating strong product thinking, sound judgment, and the ability to work effectively within real-world constraints. What You’ll Do • Own and drive the design of a scoped feature or experience across the SiriusXM streaming app (mobile, desktop, TV, and web). • Lead early-stage exploration for concepts tied to strategic themes such as liveness, fandom, and personalized discovery. • Create user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity UI, and interactive prototypes to support decision-making and learning. • Participate in design critiques, feedback sessions, and cross-team reviews. • Conduct lightweight competitive analysis, experience audits, and synthesize findings into clear design insights. • Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and fellow designers to understand constraints and opportunities. • Design within an established design system, using components intentionally and proposing improvements when patterns fall short. • Help craft clear design narratives and presentations to communicate ideas effectively. • Learn alongside a thoughtful, supportive team that genuinely cares about both the work and the people doing it. • Share your passions (music or otherwise) with your teammates. It’s certainly not a requirement to be obsessed with music but many of us are and we love beginning meetings with “walk-up songs” and discussing our favorite new releases. Others on the team regularly share their love of video games, the outdoors, local food scenes, and more. What You’ll Learn • How product design works in a real-world, cross-platform environment • How to design within complex ecosystems (streaming, content discovery, live media) • How to take a concept from idea → flow → prototype → validation → presentation • How designers collaborate with product and engineering partners • How to balance creative exploration with practical product thinking You’ll be supported by experienced designers who will provide mentorship, regular feedback, and guidance throughout the internship. What You’ll Need • Internships are open to current students enrolled at a university (those graduating by May 2027 are preferred) and recent graduates who graduated within the 12-month period prior to the start of the internship majoring in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, UX/UI, Digital Media, or related fields • A strong portfolio showcasing design thinking, process, and craft. We look for clear problem framing, decisions, and learning. Student projects are absolutely welcome. • Experience with design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, time management, and the ability to maintain organized documentation and processes are essential. • Excellent collaboration and communication skills and the ability to communicate ideas clearly and participate in constructive feedback conversations. • Keen interest in interaction design, visual UI, and digital product experiences • Adaptability, eagerness to learn, curiosity, and comfort working through ambiguity are key to a successful internship with us. • Passion for music, media, technology, or entertainment is a plus. Experience designing for constrained environments (such as automotive, accessibility-focused, or attention-limited contexts) is also a plus. • Familiarity with AI-assisted design workflows (such as using AI for ideation, research synthesis, or exploration) is a plus. We value thoughtful judgment and transparency in how these tools are used. • Must have legal right to work in the U.S. At SiriusXM, we carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, including your background and experience. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary. We expect the base salary for this position to be $37-40/hr and will depend on your skills, qualifications, and experience. What You’ll Do • Answer a mix of incoming calls including those involving emergency situations. • Obtain critical information within active emergency situations, including location, details of the incident, injuries, and other potential medical conditions. • Work with emergency response centers such as police, fire, and EMS to assist with emergency response dispatch. • Work effectively under pressure and time constraints in a fast-paced environment. • Consistently utilize effective communication, knowledge retention and recall, speed and efficiency, creative problem solving, emotional stability, and empathy. • Approach service and retention with integrity, compassion, and perseverance. • Connect and build rapport with a variety of customer types by using common courtesy, creating empathy, actively listening, educating, and offering solutions which caters to our customers’ needs. • Diffuse high-tension situations as the need arises and go above and beyond to create resolutions to issues and customer complaints. • Utilize multiple systems and various tools available to stay abreast of changes and new information.
